  1. I haven't seen him getting the ball out of the infield the last few games. Possibly thr wrist, or maybe just a slump, who really knows but Thome?
  2. QUOTE(Harry&JimmyRocked @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 03:35 AM) wasn't he the mvp last year. the starter. the igniter. the wheels. Yes. That's why we traded for him. SB's, etc, etc, Ozzie now admits he can't field or at least throw the ball Ozuna had a lofty batting average, which is steadily falling. Neither has shown much ability to bunt when needed But, if Pods starts hitting and stealing bases it might ignite some offense.
  3. We haven't won anything yet and our starting pitching sucks. However, we can hit.
  4. I saw the great 9th inning on last night on WGN. It was like old times winning like we did. Konerko showed why he is such a great hitter and so did Dye. Jermaine didn't try and do to much with that pitch he singled into center on to win the game. I am really starting to believe Dye is our MVP. I'll be watching the ESPN game tonight
  5. QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 10:59 PM) What's this "MDT" you speak of? Sounds like another dimension. It's that area where the deer and the antelope play and the buffalo roam. You know God's Country
  6. Velocity would help though when you aren't hitting your spots or getting the corners.
  7. Well the National TV exposure was not good on Monday. I was very dissapointed in the result. The ESPN announcesr kept up the commentary that Buerhle just didn't look like the Buerhle from earlier in the season and last year. Velocity down and missing his spots. I also thought the home plate ump was squeezing that strike zone a bit. Tuesday night is on WGN. Hopefully Garcia can give a good performance
  8. If Crede is in the lineup after all the first clue should have been the fact it was on the SCORE!
  9. I will be watching on ESPN Monday Night Baseball in HD. You guys going to the game wave so I'll know it's Soxtalk folks. (Wave with all fingers please after all it's a family thing)
  10. QUOTE(rafacosta @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 10:53 PM) Well, it is so damn hot that I am getting sick of it. I am kinda of used to the heat anyway...I was expecting some snow here where I am in the last winter, but just some rain and coldness. I have been here for almost one year...a lot of hot girls . Rafacosta, It's good to hear from you. What made you leave the bathing beauties of Brazil for the heat of Texas?
  11. QUOTE(DABearSoX @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 07:14 PM) Which sucks for anyone west of the Mississippi because for some reason they don't like to show the early fox game... and extra innings doesnt show the games on fox..... That's my gripe with FOX too. I wish MLB would offer more free-tv packages for the networks to bid on. Sunday day games, etc, etc.
  12. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 03:51 PM) So they can sing O' Canada, eh? I think it's because being farther North and closer to the Sun it makes their clocks run faster so at :07 in Canuck land it is really :05 at MLB Hqs where the official baseball clock is kept.
  13. I'll settle for him winning the gold glove this year
  14. Just thought that Sox fans eveywhere would like to know that the White Sox will be on national TV (ESPN) 3 times this week and on WGN once. Monday versus the Angels on ESPN Monday Night Baseball (5 PM MDT) Tuesday versus the Yankees on WGN (6:30 PM MDT) Wednesday versus the Yankees on ESPN Wednesday Night Game (6:05 PM MDT) Thursday versus the Yankees on ESPN Thursday Game of the Week (6:05 PM MDT) See you on the television!
  15. I watched the game on WGN yesterday and I can attest that Javier Vazquez was absolutely devastating, overpowering, dominating and spectacular. I loved it! And I am as happy for Javier as I am for the Sox as a whole.
  16. Interesting assessment being put out there on the WBC issue. I do seem to remember pitching coaches, mangers and GM's, including our own, mentioning that the WBC thing was not going to be good for pitchers getting into a training groove during spring training. We may be seeing dead arms already, but you also have to wonder if they can recover in mid Augst on as most pitchers do go into dead arm periods during the season? These guys may have hit their's earlier than usual.
  17. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 06:18 AM) Jose Conteras on Sunday pitches against AJ Burnett, who has a whopping 2-5 record and a 4.84 ERA. Tomorrow, Javier Vazquez, a man who earned himself a >$10 million contract a few years ago, faces a man with an ERA of 10.80. If we don't take 2 of 3, with the Jays falling apart...then we don't deserve to make a run at the wild card. It's difficult to set up a broom day better than this. If we can see a good game from Vazquez today I am betting we can do the 3 game sweep. I'll be watching on WGN today and I'll be holding the whisk brrom my wife makes me clean the house with. I think its good for a 2 game win streak and if she gives me the mop for Sunday I'll be ready to mop up those Jays.
  18. Don't know if this was posted yet or not, but I see the transaction wire shows the Orioles signed Widger as their back up catcher after they sent Lopez to Boston. Cathcers can last a long time in the bigs even if it's just a back up role. There dosn't seem to be a lot of star talent coming up as catchers.
  19. I will be watching on WGN today. He's an enigma that's for certain. He can go 5 with the best in the game and then comes the 6th and he falls apart everytime. I want to see him get over that hump and get into the 7th anyway, if he has the makeup. He needs some sensitivity training with Ozzie maybe.
  20. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 04:32 PM) He looked nasty last night. He was getting his curve and slider over and was throwing 98 and he struck out 3. The ball Glaus hit, you tip your hat to that. The pitch was 98, up and away. Now the other night against Berroa. He was just throwing his fastball. For Jenks to be effective he needs to get that breaking pitch over. But I do see a pattern with him. Pretty much they call fastball for the first 2 strikes, then go to the breaking pitches for the out pitch. Maybe an early curve might open things up more for him. Closers go through funks at some point in the season. I think Bobby is just coming out of his. His stuff last night was as good as it has been. I didn't get a chance to either listen to the 9th on XM or watch the game last night. But, I see he allowed a 9th inning home run again, but at the same time K'd the side. I have some concerns, but I am not certain it's workload, just going through a funk or poor pitch selection and location? I have seen him be absolutely overpowering, but maybe it's the lack of expereince being a big league closer that catches up to him on occassion and he gets knocked around a bit.
  21. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 09:30 PM) always appreciate Juan for the two final plays in Houston last season. But ... he does cruise control it at SS too often. Hope Ozzie sends a similar message to a few others, starting with Pods. It's time to kick it in gear and put a big winning streak together. He was motivated in the playoffs and the World Series last year. Maybe that is what made the difference. 162 games is a long haul and possibly occassionally he goes into a funk. As you said maybe some others too and they need to get a boot in the rear to get focused
  22. I believe this was a knock against Uribe last year and also the year we got him from Colorado. He gets lazy or lacks the inytensity day to day needed to be a star. (plus he swings goofy at bad pitches) B)
  23. QUOTE(vandy125 @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 02:16 PM) Wow, that is pretty harsh right there. Count me in as one who does not hate him and still hopes that he can straighten things out. All I want to see is his anger or disgust with himself finally translate into more than 5 innings of super pitching followed by the inevitable meltdown. Maybe now that he and Cooper have had some intense sessions we will see something like 7 innings of really good baseball from him.
  24. QUOTE(Adam G @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 11:58 PM) We should start doing one of these for Brian Anderson. Batting average by month March/April: .161 May: .167 June: .196 July: .313 Anderson-o-meter? Brian-o-meter? Funny stuff. Briqan is doing better that's for sure. is it my imagination or does this guy seem to have more hard hit-right on the head bullets snarred by the fielders than anyone else on the team?
