  1. I'll be listening on XM satellite tonight. My fingers are crossed that Mark B can pitch like the Mark we know and love. If he wins I will feel so much better about this teams chances of giving the Tigers a run for 1st place or at least getting that Wild Card spot. We can always get into the World Series that way.
  2. I hope so. I will feel much better if Mark Buerhle does good tonight vrs KC
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 09:05 PM) I haven't seen anyone that's solely blamed Jenks for the loss. However, he did blow the save today. He does deserve a lot of the blame. It's his job to get the final 3 outs of the game, and he didn't. He's struggled recently, and we need him to get confidence in his curveball again. He's been great this year though, and we'd be in a lot of trouble if he didn't contribute the way he has so far. Lopez could only make it 5 innings again. Cotts blew it again and Jenks blew the ninth inning save. Ok there is plenty of blame to go around, but look at Jenks stats since the 19 inning game. He is doing poorly more often than he does good and Cotts is righ there with him.
  4. QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 11:48 PM) well I guess I was right about the bullpen having problems today Cotts allows all inherited runners to score and Jenks gets the loss so it might have been good to get the win saturday (which is what you want to do), but we suffer a tough loss possibly as a result I think the point that we are missing here is how poorly the bullpen did both Saturday and Sunday. They almost blew the game Saturday and did on Sunday. It doesn't matter about how many relief pitchers you use it is if their effective or not and our guys haven't been. Cotts sucked and Jenks blew it. The starters weren't any better. That's really what this is all boiling down to... the offense comes through most of time and our pitching sucks most of the time. Jenks has has more bad outings than good since the 19 inning game where he gave up 2 runs on the 11th and the offense came back to save him. We are 90 some games into the season and the pitchers just ain't cutting it. We can't keep saying how they will eventually turn it around no matter how hard we want to believe it. We need to see some improvement and consistency in pitching good games now.

    Zito?

I think we should do that deal if it was possible and we didn't drain our minor league talent. I think it is doubtful though.
  6. I just want to know from Kenny W that he is making every effort to keep Joe Crede with the Sox. If we are fair and Booooras is fair we can keep Joe for 4 or 5 more years. He is worth it and we need him. Josh Fields can play LF.
  7. If your sick your sick. Being sick and pitching in 97 degree heat (what was the humidity and heat indez by the way?) and it wasn't going to be pretty. However, I think Garland really gave it his all and when he needed to make the big pitches he did. He got out of a lot of trouble and did it bu making big pitchers and letting the defense help.
  8. QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 04:31 AM) great now once Javy loses it after 5 innings of dominance all we have is a tired bullpen to back him up he should have let Bmac tough it out a bit longer or something I mean the win was great today, but now were in a rough spot for tomorrow You have to play to win the game number one and no matter what you have to do. The key to Saturday's game in my opinion was the failure of Brandon McCarthy to shut down the Orioles. However, the whole pitching staff did their part in almost blowing the game. I think for Sunday we still have Thornton for a couple innings and probably McDougall and Jenks to close as they only went one each.
  9. QUOTE(Reddy @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 03:23 PM) you mean it's not micdoogle? damn now i feel a little awkward.... After a few drinks it doesn't really matter anymore...
  10. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 04:29 PM) I think we are in a slump. Nothing more, nothing less. There is too much talent on this team for it to continue very long. I agree. Adversity builds character. We can still at least get that Wild card spot and roll back into the World Series
  11. When you reach the top there is only one way left to go... downnnnnn Oh well, it may build strength going through all this adversity. At this point all I think we can concetrate on or care about is winning that wild card spot. If this team can turn it around and start winning, which we sure have the talent to do, we will be in the playoffs. I still believe in the Sox.
  12. Our relief pitchers got out of their respective innings without giving up a run, but they continue to play with fire too. 2 hits every inning ain't good for stoppers. They will eventually give up that big third hit.
  13. QUOTE(Balance @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 08:07 PM) Maybe some of our clubhouse leaders will call a players' only meeting and see what they, themselves, can do to break out of this death spiral. Paulie? Jermaine? AJ? That's where it needs to come from
  14. But, too defer to Felix I wil say that at bat where he took it to White was something I haven't seen much off from Garcia, Vazquez or Buerhle lately.
  15. QUOTE(Felix @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 08:02 PM) He isn't that good? I've seen him do pretty well and improve as the year has gone on, I don't know what you're looking at. I don't want to tell you that you are wrong and I am right I guess we just aren't looking at the same pitcher. Brandon's ERA is at 4 and he hasn't shined like last year. Syaing that though I think being a starter and not a reliever is where he should be at on this team. He hasn't been a relief pitcher before and I think has even said it has been a work in progress for him.
  16. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 07:58 PM) None of his stats make any difference. He's the savior. We don't have anyone in the farm system that has contributed like other teams have. McCarthy isn't that good from what we have seen lately, but with a chance at starting he might still blossom this year.
  17. We may suck right now, but hopefully come the end of Sept we will have come back to at least get the wild card. The Sox collpase could be the big baseball news though. Detroit is doing what we did last year. I really thought we had a better team for 2006 than the one that won it all last year.
  18. Mac gets the final out one batter too late
  19. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 07:48 PM) i cant watch this fishing team right now. Something has gotta change cause we fishing suck. This is more dpressing than catching your girlfriend having sex with a another dude. Depends on whether you like to watch or not
  20. BMAC gives up th 2 out hit and Twinkies lead 7-3. I give up for today, I think the Twins will now be the Wild card leader too.
  21. Buerhle removed which I think is a miracle. Maybe Ozzie is going to finally try and give the mesage to the pitchers?
  22. I was able to get to a TV set to see the twinkies get the lead 5-3 becasue Buerhle gave up another homer. Than Cintron and Thome are out on well hit balls to the OF. We hit it hard right at someone or to the wall. The Twinkies get the breaks. I turned off the TV
  23. Just logged on. How is Buerhle looking? I see from sportsline that he has given up 6 or so hits in 4 innings. But the offense is clicking today for us.
  24. This season has been worse because we are watching our vaunted pitching fail big time and our offense head South too. Hitters that fail to execute on bunts and can't get the fly ball with a runner on third, or big hit when we have two outs. Pitchers that give up way too many homers and can't get the out with 2 strikes on the hitter. It seems everytime we have a rally and need just a flyball to bring in the runner from third all we get is a strike out and then pop up. We can't get the bunt down to save our lives. Now when Gload bunted twice vrs Detroit and Garland pitched a great game we won. We know we have the talent.
