  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 06:57 PM) STOP BUNTING! Morel's failed twice bunting already this season. who hasn't. good god...Ozzie thinks he's got Cy Young on the hill.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 06:13 PM) Had no idea we play 30 out of 43 games on the road starting Monday. WTF?!?!? Nice scheduling. I guess it could play to our advantage later in the year...but that's brutal.
  3. Ozzie...you are one stubborn son of a b****.
  4. QUOTE (Tex @ Apr 14, 2011 -> 04:43 AM) What happens to our legal system when we stop prosecuting people who lie under oath? A high profile case is the best bang for the buck to show that lying under oath is not something you should try. Convicting some random dude doesn't garner the attention that Bonds gets. So from spending taxpayer money, it seems like a bargain. You mean like 3/4 of our elected politicians do?...
  5. Glad our government has nothing else better to do or spend taxpayer money on...good Lord.

    It can...

QUOTE (Real @ Apr 13, 2011 -> 11:43 PM) we'll be 8-7 after the angels series (we're not beating Haren and Weaver, put that on the board), and could easily be swept if the Sox pull another gem like today in the Humber game dear god this team is a mess right now A mess?!? Playing bad baseball at the most inopportune times...yes. Bullpen sucking eggs...yes. But nothing to push the panic button on IMO. Haren and Weaver do not scare me really. Ozzie just needs to get a handle on the pen...and it's obvious Santos needs to be given the chance. This closer by committee crap I'm not real comfortable with. Didn't work out too well with the DH last year...so what made him think it would work out with the pen?
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 13, 2011 -> 03:33 PM) That's it. That's really all the Sox can do. By the way, in the old days today would have been a complete game easy win, as would Mark's the other day. It's simply absurd this pitch count crap. Eight innings of greatness, then you have to take the guy out lest you ruin his arm. Utter crap. COMPLETELY agree. But hey...our starters will be well rested come August...but we'll be 10 games back. No biggie.
  8. Glad i'm at work...I'd be remote shopping tonight if I wasn't. Question...is it a coincidence that Castro has been catching the last 2 bullpen implosions? What about the other blown saves?
  9. wow...f*** this. I'm gonna go watch the Bulls.
  10. Just went back and watched the 9th again (like an asshole)...but Thornton was F'd as soon as he rolled that 0-2 slider over the middle of the plate. You could see it in his face. And if Ozzie really defends either Thornton or Pierre...he's an idiot.
  11. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 10:20 PM) Note that the Cubs took who was pretty much the best 8th inning guy I've ever seen (Hawkins), moved him to closer where he failed...kept him there in hopes he'd pitch through it...and effectively ruined his career. He never recovered. I'd like to not see that happen to Thornon, and right now, that's exactly what I see, despite it bring early to call this that way, I am anyway...because it's my opinion that the same thing is occurring right before our eyes. Thornton doesnt even look close to comfortable. Great point....
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 10:12 PM) I just can't believe the 9th inning is that big a difference from the 8th inning. It really is believe it or not...
  13. So why are the Pro-Thornton for closer supporters so against letting Santos fill that roll and put Matt back where he's comfortable. I understand the arguments as far as numbers go/bad luck/ etc....but it AIN'T WORKIN'!
  14. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 09:59 PM) Once again, there is no way it wasn't Mark's decision. Ozzie would have sent him out there if he felt up to it. Don't s*** yourself....
  15. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 09:56 PM) I would have too. But Ozzie probably wanted Thornton to feel like he still has faith in him. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case tonight. I almost thought it was a Cardinal Rule that if you're tossing a shutout...and pitch count under 100...you NEVER take a guy out throwing a shutout.
  16. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 09:55 PM) Chw2, Thornton had the first guy 0-2. At that point you can throw exclusively fastballs, for some reason they went offspeed and over the heart of the plate. I assure you, that is not part of mixing up pitches. Had Thornton got the first batter, its an entirely different inning. Its just the little things. I actually am willing to give Thornton more of a chance because he atleast tried to do something different. This game was entirely execution, it wasnt predictability. Execution can be fixed (you hope). It was a dumb call. Feel free to shake off your catcher anytime Matt. Same with Crain after everybody wiffs at his curveball...Castro for some reason calls for a heater. Pathetic....
  17. Maybe it's just me...but I still send Mark out there in the 9th pitching a shutout. Not like he had a ridiculous pitch count...
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 08:43 PM) This team should be 9-1 after tonight. This is so frustrating. pretty much...playing down to the competition...again.
  19. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 08:38 PM) This one is on Ozzie. Bad managing. Buehrle should have stayed in, and Thornton isn't a closer. I better not hear Rongey's postgame bulls*** that it's too early to pull Thornton from the closer job. He really isn't a closer....and yet Oz keeps putting him out there being the stubborn ass he is.
  20. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 08:35 PM) No one is hitting his curve, and then Castro wants the heat. This. I told my son about 30 seconds before he hit it that ding dong was gonna call for a fastball. Goddamn....
  21. Cruising around Extra Innings waiting for the game to start...and got stuck on the bosox for a bit. Holy crap is their field reporter smokin' hot!!!
  22. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 07:55 PM) This place has been over the top with overreaction through the offseason and a week or so into the season as well. Get's that way sometimes...wouldn't get too worked up about it. I take it you've never been to the Scout Illinois basketball board? You want over the top...WACK jobs over there. Plus the mods are facists with god complexes. I appreciate passion...and this board certainly has it. Game threads seem like a Sybil remakes sometimes....it's GREAT!
  23. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 06:37 PM) Great first sox game of the year. Tailgating, ice cold beer, corn off the cob and a white sox winner. I was in J4L's shoes...one (or 8) too many libations (starts at 11am here). Hawks, Bulls and Sox all in one morning...my head almost exploded...in a good way!
