  1. Lots of games left to change our minds about who will stick around next year. We could easily hate Josh Phegley and love Blake Tekotte a month from now
  2. Kenny Williams ‏@NotKenWilliams 15m Cubs fans certainly enjoy our diamond suites, jumbotron, running water, delicious food, ample parking, and modern plumbing...don't they?
  3. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 8, 2013 -> 09:33 PM) Looks like Hawkins blocked the sports writer for the Winston-Salem paper because he pointed out he had a golden sombrero. Nice to see Courtney runs to twitter right after the game to see what everyone is saying about him. How can you tell if somebody has blocked someone else on twitter?
  4. As fathom alluded to, mechanical faults can make it seem like your pitch recognition is bad when it isn't. There are all kinds of things that can leave a hitter unable to hit more than one speed of pitch
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2013 -> 09:29 PM) I'll make the prediction that the 4th outfielder next year isn't in the organization right now. I also will make a prediction that the Sox will give Mitchell some ABs at the MLB level at the end of this year. Why go outside the org. for a backup OF'er in a rebuilding/transition year?
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2013 -> 09:27 PM) He's just a bad player who had a 2 week hot stretch in AAA and the Sox brought him up. He's just one part of a 3 man race for fourth outfielder of the future. I'm okay with that
  7. Soriano has been under fire for his OF defense for a long time, but UZR has consistently rated him good to excellent out there http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playe...;position=2B/OF
  8. Tekotte struggled against righties in AAA
  9. 3-0 green light, swings at a ball. Oh well, I'm surprised Robin let him do it
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 8, 2013 -> 09:17 PM) Nice job to get out of the jam, thanks in part to the fan. Would be nice to score some runs. You'd think the Sox one night would luck into 8-9 runs by law of averages. We did. The other team lucked into 19 that night
  11. "Hector not afraid to pitch out of a jam" True. Also, not afraid to get into one
  12. lol that dumbass fan knew he shouldn't touch it
  13. QUOTE (staxx @ Jul 8, 2013 -> 09:09 PM) I agree. I think he'll be one of those borderline 100-115 if he continues to play well. Gasp. We might have close to 3 top-100s Lots of season left for that to go away (or improve? maybe? not sure who would be a candidate to work back in with an especially strong second half)
  14. Anderson should get a look for top 100. We'll see how he finishes the year
  15. There was a screwball. To Barney. Stone speechless because he doesn't know what it is.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2013 -> 08:37 PM) I'm just happy they didn't get no hit lol that is the exact thing I thought about when he hit it
  17. Let the record show that Hector has not thrown any screwballs today. Those are changeups, Steve Stone and Hawk
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2013 -> 08:24 PM) Yeah, he's been really bad for over a month now. I have no idea why they aren't trying to spin him for a starting pitcher. As much as I'm pretty sure Theo hates Starlin, they'd really be selling low on him
  19. I love seeing Starlin up in a big situation. You know he's going to fail. He's my favorite Cub lately
  20. Walks are one of the less fun parts of the Hector experience
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 8, 2013 -> 08:17 PM) I think I've been pretty good about not saying "I told you so" regarding Ozzie and how the next manager could be worse. I shut up about Ozzie except last year in the Marlins thread which I figured was fair game. I was mistaken. I'm just teasing Greg. You've definitely left the Ozzie subject alone
