I should retract my "Abrams = drunk" comment, that title clearly belongs to Joe Bertrand.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 15, 2013 -> 11:32 AM) ILL has poor court spacing constantly. Why have a guy run through 3 screens on one side of the court? Because we don't run an offense. My pickup basketball games have an offense that is more schemed than Illinois's.

Way too much offensive talent on Illinois to continue having this much trouble scoring. Coach them!
-
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 15, 2013 -> 11:28 AM) lol This game is going to get out of hand if the refs let Indiana bump Illinois down the court Purdue style. Well Illinois should have known they weren't going to call fouls on IU, that's a given in this situation.

Abrams is the only one with enough ballhandling skills to even get a shot. Run a f***ing offense, morons
-
lol how do you come out of the timeout not knowing how much time is on the shot clock?

Dan Dakich...

Points from Joe Bertrand? Surely you jest!

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 15, 2013 -> 11:20 AM) Their PG play so far has been bad, real bad. I'm pretty sure Tracey Abrams is drunk half of the time that he plays.

Dear Illini, When they jump you out on the wing, you back cut. It's elementary basketball. Don't just stand there/move further away from the basket. Sincerely, Fan who thought this s*** would end when we fired Bruce Weber

Illinois hasn't taken the time to get a quality look on offense yet. I've seen this movie before.
-
Illinois playing good D so far, despite the calls I'm complaining about they're letting quite a bit go on both ends.

And another one, falling under the "Cody Zeller protection" rule.

First bulls*** call achieved on Sam McLaurin

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 15, 2013 -> 10:47 AM) Have you tried using google tracks/mytracks? It works decently for hiking. From the way it screws up, I can tell it is the GPS at fault...just doesn't collect enough data points. The map gets too many straight lines based on lack of data points. So I am planning on just getting a Garmin GPS watch which are pretty well regarded and I'll get other fun features like heart rate, cadence, etc. I would be interested if Samsung could demonstrate a better GPS than standard. When can I buy the S4 anyway?

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 15, 2013 -> 10:21 AM) I also use MapMyRun/MapMyRide - it works fine for me - but I love the idea of being able to stick the phone in my pocket and have that wristband synced up. It's just inaccurate enough to really piss me off. The pace is always off so I can't use pace information from my run and it f***s up enough that if I go on a ten mile run, the error is usually .5-1 mile which is significant. Luckily, I still use their mapping feature online before my runs so I can usually tell when it is deciding to screw up intra-run if it tells me I just ran a mile when I know I'm only about .5 into the run, etc.

The health business could be really great if they implented well enough with hardware and software. For instance, I had been using MapMyRun on my iPhone but am now shopping for an actual GPS watch because the phone GPS can't cut it. Would be interested in how feature-rich this health part is and how well it really works. EDIT: Also. since I got an Android tablet I've been obsessed with widgets. Why doesn't everyone see how cool those are and what a big advantage that is for Android over iOS?

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 14, 2013 -> 05:01 PM) Quin, Awesome, always glad to have more people writing. I just want to make sure people are enjoying themselves, its supposed to be fun. I need to get moving again -- I just have to make sure it is fun, like you said. In other news, where's Greg?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 13, 2013 -> 04:10 PM) I think the Celtics superteam fooled us a bit. Evidently it takes a bit for these kind of teams to figure each other out. The Lakers are playing loads better than when they started as well. I still remember waking up one day with SportsCenter on before the season started and they were discussing what kind of season to expect from the Lake Show. They were all saying it would be very bad at first and they'd come on strong later. I remember one guy (I'm thinking Ric Bucher) in particular stressing that they must not panic if things are disfunctional early, since there were so many new and significant parts. Then the Lakers get lit up in their first game and these same assholes are shouting about how OH MY GOD THIS IS SO MUCH WORSE THAN WE EXPECTED. The worst part is that LA believed this frenzy...fired their coach, played along with the daily drama...silliness.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 13, 2013 -> 03:03 PM) The S4 is being announced tomorrow. Unfortunately, from the leaks so far, the device looks awfully similar to the S3... I guess Samsung is going with the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" strategy now. My hope is that Samsung doesn't start becoming the Apple of the Android world, where they get extremely complacent and release incremental hardware updates. With how fast the Android market evolves, they'll eventually get overtaken with that kind of strategy. I thought I'd seen some cool stuff, but I haven't been keeping up faithfully. The question is, what kind of big flashy features could they come up with?

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 13, 2013 -> 05:29 PM) Yeah depends on the slant. Some are saying he was doing things behind the scenes, others seem to think he was complicit. "Don't do as I say, do as I do"

QUOTE (southside_hitman @ Mar 13, 2013 -> 12:09 PM) "Phallate" Ramirez? I am seeing a pattern among a few posters, a juvenile argumentative style like kids quarreling among themselves in the back seat of a car or a couple of pimply teenage Cub fans who just learned how to swear and are coupling that with their North side dude-speak. The White Sox do not have many players who are rated in the top ten at their respective positions. If my memory serves me well, the "Shredder" at MLBTV only had Konerko, AJ and Alexei rated among the top 10 players at their respective positions based on their performance up to this season. In any case, this was their respective ratings at short stop: The Shredder 1. T. Tulowitzki (COL) 2. J. Reyes (MIA) 3. Y. Escobar (TOR) 4. A. Cabrera (CLE) 5. A. Ramirez (CHW) 6. S. Drew (ARI) 7. J. Peralta (DET) 8. J. Hardy (BAL) 9. E. Aybar (LAA) 10. Jeter (NYY) Shean's List 1. Tulowitzki 2. Reyes 3. Andrus 4. Escobar 5. Cabrera 6. Castro 7. Ramirez 8. Hardy 9. Aybar 10. Rollins Larry Bowa's List 1. Tulowitzki 2. AYBAR 3. Reyes 4. Ramirez 5. Cabrera 6. Rollins 7. Hardy 8. Jeter 9. Gonzalez 10. Andrus It is bad enough that the Sox will not have AJ, a top ten rated catcher, this season. Why would we want to trade another top player from a team that we hope can at least compete against the Tigers after they have overwhelmed everyone else in the Division with the level of talent they have? The word "pimply" made me love this post

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Mar 13, 2013 -> 10:46 AM) Eh, my money's on Jeffery seizing that title this year. He showed a lot for a rookie. In other news our OL stands at: LT: Bushrod LG: Louis C: Garza RG: Carimi RT: Webb Honorable Mention: Martellus Bennett is pretty good at blocking. Not nearly good enough. We are still relying on Webb and Carimi to be starters when we should be in a position where those guys compete for starting jobs against mid-late round draft picks and low-level free agents. Also Lance Louis has to come back from a pretty major injury and insurance there would be nice. So far so good though, Emery is pretty awesome... everyone was wondering wtf the Bears were doing and he pounced on the guys he wanted out of nowhere. Remember, Louis is an UFA and expects to draw interest from multiple teams. Not a cinch to return with our cap issues.
