From the twittersphere in the past 24 hours: Thibs extended 4 years KC Johnson is optimistic that the Bulls will work out an extension with Taj Gibson before the upcoming deadline Boozer and Rip are reportedly in noticeably better shape, according to Thibs (Rose listed as day to day) Thibs claims the Celtics tried to trade for Hinrich while he was an assistant there

The "hiccups" BS should be alleviated soon since we're hoping to finally have continuity at the OC position and perhaps more importantly a "normal" offensive system that folks can actually learn and run effectively.

Marty would feel better about Detroit if Verlander, Scherzer, Fielder, Cabrera, Martinez, and Jackson were 5 years younger.

Hope for the best. I'm cautiously optimistic that he'll at least put up something like a .700 OPS next year, which is fine with me. I don't expect him to have two separate months batting under .200, especially not a month like his first one this season. Manto has flat out said it -- he needed a lot of mechanical work to get consistent. He's had this season to work on things (not that easy) and he'll get an entire offseason with Manto this time around. Luckily, he's a huge plus defensively and he seemed to be on the rise offensively in the midst of our pennant chase. There are no replacements out there. You leave it be. If Chase Utley becomes available, you can forget Gordon. Until then, I'm okay with where we are.

My lineup for next year, subject to adjustment in case of acquisitions or poor play out of the gate: ADA - CF Gordon Beckham - 2B Alex Rios - RF Adam Dunn - 1B Paul Konerko - DH Kevin Youkilis - 3B AJ Pierzynski - C Dayan Viciedo - LF Alexei Ramirez - SS Big assumptions on a couple of those guys returning, so if it is "generic players" It would be more like: ADA Gordon Rios Dunn PK Dayan Generic Catcher/T Flow Generic 3B/??? Alexei Ramirez

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 09:11 AM) Ran out of gas or got a couple of flat tires sounds about right. They wouldn't have been in position to win if they hadn't pushed their pitchers like Sale, Quintana and Peavy earlier. De Aza gets hurt, Youkilis is breaking down, Dunn pulls a muscle, Konerko needs wrist surgery a ton of rookie pitchers......for a team that was flawed to begin with its asking a lot for them to keep overcoming these things. I thought they would, but I don't think the future is nearly as dark as some think. The funny thing is we really handled those starting pitchers with kid gloves throughout most of the season

This should be a very interesting offseason. We potentially have some money to spend, we have some important FA pieces, and it could be argued that we're just an upgrade or two away from a well over 90 win team (there's a conversation to be had about whether we were that if healthy this year). We could also let everyone go (FA-wise) and then are a trade or two away from a rebuilding project. I have no idea why we'd try to do a full rebuild when we already have some nice pieces and aren't really having problems with payroll as is. I wouldn't be upset if we aren't really aggressive and enter the season with a team that appears to be .500. This could allow us to take chances on any prospects we want to look at throughout the season and as always we'd be just a couple strokes of luck away from being very good. Gordon Beckham turnaround, a prime year from Konerko, a prime year from Youk if he comes back, etc.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 12:08 AM) It's funny a defense that had 5 interceptions and held their RB to 24 yards on 11 carries and people were saying they weren't playing good. Also 2nd page people going crazy over the offense and saying meltdown etc. already.... I'm happy I actually watch the games from start to end and not read all this during. It's something that happens with the Tampa 2 -- allow a lot of yards (oh noes, not playing well) but make up for it with turnovers. Romo got them down the field a few times with relative ease but always gave the ball away. When you're watching, it's hard to assume that there will be turnovers so you just feel like the D isn't doing well.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 08:18 AM) Not only that, we are talking about your 1-2-3-4 hitters all battling injuries down the stretch. but choke!!! don't ruin the angry story!!!

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 11:03 PM) Thanks for the ammunition, Bears... tomorrow's going to be a good day at work for me... f***ing Cowboy fan b****es will be crying... All the Cowboy fans around me are just acting like the Cowboys are great, its just Romo's fault. I'm sorry, Romo is not that bad. The whole package is lacking and this game would have been rather different if Dez Bryant didn't suck ass.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 08:36 PM) Oh Cutler being a douche bag, what a surprise. Week 4 and the QB and off. coord. aren't talking. Great. That could easily be an example of placing a narrative on top of video. If it was anyone but Jay Cutler, that clip doesn't mean anything. Only in the world where Jay Cutler is an asshole does that mean what that means Anyways, go Bears

QUOTE (sunofgold @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 08:39 PM) Amazingly all of our runs driven in today on singles. Swinging singles we are. We've always been a single oriented offense, I'd say Just oftentimes we'd hit singles over the fence -

I'm in the market for some nice headphones. Sick of my iPhone ear buds, though they're better than much of the $5 crap. The reason I don't like on-ear is because the headband always messes up my hair

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 09:22 AM) Adam Dunn leads the league in walks and somebody complains that pitchers don't pitch around him. I give up.

Ignoring what I've already said about trying to get anyone to understand Ozzie's speech and the craziness that would be leaving Ozzie unfiltered for three hours at a time.... You have Hawk who we believe has too big an ego for Steve Stone, who also seems to have a rather large ego. So you replace Stone with....OZZIE GUILLEN? Ozzie has the biggest ego on the planet and it is costing him everything already

QUOTE (Reddy @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 09:35 AM) it's bridging the gap these days. the tricky thing about doing it at home, is it requires either bands or adjustable weights. the weights are expensive, but just work better than bands. so many people use the bands their first time or two through, then want to graduate to weights, but don't have the $300+ to throw down. That's where gyms come in. And some people just like a gym atmosphere better than home. I'm big on having separate spaces for everything I do, so I understand the gym atmosphere sentiment. My bed is for sleeping, my desk is for working, my couch is for relaxing, etc etc
