QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 03:48 PM) I saw a thread started by Tex titled "150 Years Ago" and figured he was telling us about his upcoming birthday. Came in, wrote post with this joke, saw this, left

Q&A: Jeff Manto on Dunn, Rios, Konerko, Beckham
His comments make me think that he's down on Gordon. First he says you don't need many big adjustments mechanically if you are ready for the bigs, then he basically says that the primary focus when he works with Gordon is on his mechanics. That means Gordon's hips are so s***ty that no approach will help him hit the ball. The article also makes it seem as if PK is one that responds very well to coaching and that perhaps Jeff/Robin/crew have something to do with this big season Paul is having.

That PK play may have ended up costing them the game.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 09:39 PM) This guy throw a sinker? Huge DP possibility here, I'd love a flare to right field. submariner, so lots of drop. Doesn't always mean grounders though, depends on how the batter sees it.

Yeah, not sure what Ozzie does there. Seems like a pretty obvious move IMO. Robin seems like one that is more likely to go against the grain when it comes to in-game management to me.

QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 08:23 PM) Is this team is as good defensively as the 2005 squad? I'd say better. 3B - worse SS - better 2B - better 1B - same, maybe worse if you figure some regression. Not a big deal either way LF - wash, Pods probably covered a little more ground but was generally no good. Couldn't throw CF - better, I'm not a Rowand believer RF - much better, JD was already slow by then and Rios is just awesome C - same, better if you really think about it

Someone needs to figure out why Phil isn't throwing strikes. He's never had problems walking people at any level. If he's got to get hit, I'd like to see him do it the way he used to.

Chick-Fil-A and Homosexuality
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 08:00 PM) Actually, the discussion is terrible. In fili, you're allowed to take personal shots at posters because everybody thinks they're right and everybody else is wrong. That's why i stay out of here. i wouldn't last two seconds in here without getting accused of trolling. Then I would get warned by a mod and eventually suspended if i didn't succumb. lol well. This thread has had more digressions than most. I read in the 'buster frequently and enjoy most of the discussion. When it turns into what you describe, I just move on to the next thread.

Chick-Fil-A and Homosexuality
QUOTE (Cali @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 07:39 PM) Uh-oh... Gordon must be a racist. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 07:46 PM) lol. That's what soxtalk has become. It's politicstalk for the most part. Lame as hell. This is supposed to be a sports board. We could trade for strasburg tomorrow and it wouldn't generate 40 pages of this dumbs***. Most of the posters that live in filibuster rarely ever post in pht. We need to get rid of fili asap. It's a SPORTS board, people. There is some excellent discussion in this part of the board, far better than some of the other "niche interest" boards that attempt this sort of thing. The plus is it keeps people here, and I'm okay with that.

*Official* Work Out Thread
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 11:10 PM) A nice perk about working in baseball: The entire park, gym and batting cages included, is at your disposal when the team is on the road. Where do you work? Feel free to PM if you don't want it public. If you don't want me to know, then I'll just go cry in the corner
