2012 MLB draft talk
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 06:55 PM) I still love Stroman. Appel would be beautiful. Would be a very tough sign though. Appel, Stroman, and Giolito are my choices in that order

If the Sox get Appel at 13 just two years after getting Sale, this is a Rose-esque draft fix

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 06:43 PM) Kevin Goldstein @Kevin_Goldstein Crazy rumor of Boras trying to push Mark Appel all the way to Washington at 16. Reply Retweet Favorite I thought the manipulation of the draft system was over.

2012 MLB draft talk
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 05:44 PM) One of the CBS writers today, tweeted that White Sox will be looking for veteran bullpen help around deadline. With that said, I think they take a pitcher that can fast track to the bullpen this year and start in minors next year. so...Stroman

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 05:03 PM) So, final predictions for first pick by Sox? I'm going with Stratton Going with my heart, Stroman Will be very disappointed with Heaney, I like what I hear about Stratton but half the good things had never been seen before this year so I wonder if they will last (sinking fastball, secondary pitch, starting pitcher)

Best place to track this if I don't have MLB Network? What time does it start? Yes, lazy

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 04:17 PM) Giolito would go against everything they believe in, it would seem (high school pitchers, injury risks) Yeah I realize that. However, I think we should be open to rethinking our draft philosophy. This guy is a Verlander-ish talent and is 17 years old, might not be the worst player to take the plunge with. Certainly would make sense to not draft him as well, though --- I'll be pissed if it's for one of these low ceiling college guys or a high strikeout, raw athlete position player.

2012 MLB draft talk
If we draft a position player, I just ask that it's a player that doesn't project to strike out once per game. Stroman is my favorite, but Giolito would be VERY interesting...it'd be hard to blame them for it. I know his mother and they're a great family, not trying to cheat anyone out of their investment.

Youkilis, $5.6 million traded to White Sox
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 3, 2012 -> 11:17 PM) That's exactly right. Old for old expensive for expensive. That's all I would give up take it or leave it. That's my thinking. I don't want to give them a young guy and I don't want to take on that whole Youk contract without sending a pricey vet their way.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 3, 2012 -> 11:06 PM) I know some of us were clamoring for Stetson Allie in 2010, I might have been one of them but I don't remember. Anyhow, after not being able to find the plate whatsoever as a pitcher, he's now been converted to a position player. His only game action this year was in A ball where walked 8 batters and only recorded two outs. Interesting turn of events. http://triblive.com/sports/pirates/1909481...ngton-kovacevic I played against Stetson and saw him pitch a handful of times in person...always caught him on the losing end. Seemed like just an astronomical amount of wild pitches. Too bad for him, but it seemed like this was likely from the get-go.

2012 MLB draft talk
We just don't have a good track record with these no-contact athlete guys. Chris Young is as close as it gets, and strikeouts are STILL a big problem for him. We just haven't shown an ability to fix these guys with strikeout issues, and that might just be because that is very hard to fix.

6/3 games
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 3, 2012 -> 08:59 PM) If he's back to legit prospect status don't we want him playing everyday? I've been saying this for a while now. He keeps playing until September/an OF gets hurt on the Sox.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 3, 2012 -> 10:50 PM) You just know Miami is winning that one unless both LeBron and Wade s*** the bed. Home teams always win, especially pivotal game 5s. Count on every close call going the Heat's way. You can always count on this. They toss in some token ones for the Celtics so it doesn't look entirely like an inside job.
