  1. Finally a changeup to a left handed batter
  2. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 8, 2012 -> 06:58 PM) The ball wasn't hit in front of him. It was getting by him no matter what. The key was that he held him to a double, and not a triple. It was a good effort. I was impressed with his ability to get up and throw the ball in.
  3. Dayan learned something today.
  4. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 8, 2012 -> 06:52 PM) It's absolutely true. And pitch count has nothing to do with it, Danks wasn't going to tire in an at bat against Duncan in the 2nd inning. Batters get the advantage because they get to see everything the pitcher's got. And "swing mode" doesn't mean "swing at everything mode". Duncan was hitting the ball hard on a lot of those pitches by Danks, and they were in various parts of the zone. Then he gets one right down the pipe and pops it up. A better hitter murders a number of those pitches that Danks threw. The only time the pitcher gets the advantage is when the hitter is the type to mindf*** himself throughout an at bat. Generally speaking, it's tough on the pitcher to see everything he's got being whacked at (somewhat) successfully
  5. I love it. You never see a hitter strike out without looking back at the mound at some point as if to say "what's going on out there?"
  6. Paulie moves the man over, lol
  7. I don't know what's gotten into AJ
  8. We always said John had no putaway pitch, lol
  9. And the hit parade continues.
  10. Had to knock in those two men in scoring position and we did that. Good start.
  11. AJ has been unreal with men on base this year. Used to be garbage.
  12. Hit one out sometime Dunn!
  13. Gordon going the other way gives me hope. A lot of it. Take notes teammates, that's what you do to a sinkerballer.
  14. Alright guys...I sorta won my last game thread. I then did not make the next game thread We have not won since and I have to take responsibility. The past is the past, I cost us some games, but today we get back on track. We're going to get some solid pitching from this guy: And this guy is going to get hammered: There will be no s***ty play today while Chris Sale gets his first save of the year and John Danks makes his way back into the good graces of Soxtalk!
  15. Let's just hope the bevy of young pitchers like Molina, Castro, Hernandez, Martinez, Quintana that we acquired along with some of the existing guys turn out well. There are some positives in the system like Phegley, Mitchell at the positions as well. Jones and Reed look like bullpen staples for the future. Getting something out of Santiago or Axelrod, even if it's just a serviceable back-end starter, would be huge. I'd like to see us use our draft pick on a position player this year, maybe a third baseman or a shortstop.
  16. IMO going to full rebuild is a terrible idea. That's what organizations with no money, in bad markets do. We are not the Chicago Cubs, we can put a contending on the field product while building up our system. I can live with 2006-2011 if the behind the scenes moves are made that allow us to compete for the future. No more all-in, but you can still spend on veterans, send down young guys that can't hit, etc.
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 7, 2012 -> 10:14 PM) Not even a change, he just needs to be able to throw a consistent enough slider that he can keep hitters off his fastball. And have the confidence to occasionally use it when behind in the count. But it's not like in his mid 30's he's going to be able to do that, or Cooper already would have taught him and he'd be one of the best relievers in modern baseball history from the LH side. Don't forget how good he's been for so long with a 1 pitch repertoire. He just needs to throw it in the right place.
  18. I think the reason it hurts is because we're good enough to be winning these games.
  19. Our young hitters cannot hit offspeed pitches, with the exception of Dayan who cannot hit fastballs. Ugh
  20. Can't think of a better guy to be up here...nice to live and die with Paulie.
  21. Good to see Brent still doesn't understand what an offspeed pitch looks like.
  22. Damn it! I thought he had all of that. Damn this weather.
  23. Interesting that they're using a bad lefty against us here, lol
