  1. This has probably been said before, but Cubano I'm so glad you're a member of this website. You're a tremendous resource and I really appreciate what you do. I read all of your posts.

    Tex? Just...Tex?

QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 11:34 AM) lost,Sqwert,corn,knight,commie......this list goes on and on of all the people that would be better off with shortened names. Mine doesn't get much shorter, even though I haven't gone by Jake since I signed up for soxtalk way back when. All my friends refer to me as J.
  3. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 01:44 PM) OK...so who was that home run on? He throws all FB to Francisco...walks him. Then Shoppach, who sees this, sits on a FB...and gets? A fastball. And hammers it? Is that on Clayton or AJ? AJ was looking pissed off enough that I wouldn't put it past him to leave Clayton out to dry like that.
  4. You have to at least inquire, he's got to be better than Gobble. Let Richard/Poreda start in AAA while you give Ryan a shot.
  5. QUOTE (watchtower41 @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 04:36 PM) So we should all assume the exact opposite , considering this site is a better source than that clown Cowley. I'm starting to think Cowley reads this site for information. Which I guess means he's a pretty tough guy.
  6. I'm very curious to see what he'd go for on the open market. In this market, we could all be very surprised at what a low number it could be.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 01:48 PM) I honestly don't believe Allen would be a huge piece in any trade. He's a solid prospect, but he's definitely not a game-changing prospect with regards to a trade package. I think Allen is a very good prospect and I expect him to be a good major leaguer. However, I think he has far more value to the White Sox than to anyone else. Similar to Josh Fields and maybe even Clayton Richard now, as he has been struggling.
  8. QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 08:53 AM) Cowley wrote that the day of the All-Star game would be his normal bullpen day so he would be able to throw an inning or so. Just remember that bullpens are typically thrown at 75%-80% intensity, pitching in a game is very different and would be a departure from his regular recovery. As a pitcher, this would sometimes delay my recovery when I would pitch in a game between starts.
  9. Since we didn't know his family situation, we can't rule out the possibility of a crazy wife driving him to this. We don't have to paint him as horrible husband until we know for sure that he wasn't married to terrible wife. And isn't it strange that we haven't heard from his wife throughout this process?
  10. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 25, 2004 -> 10:09 AM) How long can kenny williams sit there without signing a competent fifth starter before we fire him? Needs: Better third baseman Willie Harris or Jose Valentin to get the boot (Valentin's gone but preferably Harris too) Garland put up or shut up Better right fielder Fifth starter (or maybe 1,2,3, or 4) Third baseman corrected itself, we got the Gooch, Garland put up, we signed Dye, we signed El Duque. I really only missed the mark on third base.
  11. I think I found it, a dumb post in a thread closed by the admins! Click Me
  12. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 6, 2009 -> 11:28 AM) Good to know that he's not just pulling everything in sight. I really felt like his approach at the end of last season and this season was poor and a departure from what brought him so much notoriety. He has a basehit swing and approach, but is so strong that his balls leave the yard. I think he'd been reading the statsheet too much, because he had been going to the longball approach that is so characteristic of White Sox hitters in recent years. Some of his biggest (most important) hits were simply ground balls through the middle, and I like those just as well.

    I'm a homeowner!

Do it...do it in every room. Or did I really mean that green?
  14. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 11:15 AM) PM me the link, Damnit! There's a link???!?!!?!?
  15. If you do go the player profile route, for each player don't just tell us stats. Tell us the player's talents and weaknesses. When I'm trying to learn about our system, I want to know how hard the guy is throwing and what his offspeeds are. If a guy is raking I want to know if he can field or if he has more power potential, etc. I usually look for that type of thing in the AAPs here, but oftentimes its just statistics.

    Linebrink

Getz could have ended that situation before it got ugly. The umpire making the correct call would have ended the situation before it got ugly. I forgive him for the Lee bomb, when that many outs are taken from you something often gives. But he can't come back and serve up a fastball for Soto on the next pitch. He was getting very predictable. He needed to either throw a breaking pitch on the first pitch or at least change the eye level. Everyone knew a low fastball was coming, so he had no margin for error on that pitch. And he missed his spot by a lot.

The only time I don't is when I have a buzzcut like now. I've been using AXE hair products, they aren't too bad and my melon smells good when it's all said and done.
  18. f*** you guys. This is stupid. In all actuality, I love that on this website we can debate each other on almost anything and any post should be subjected to everyone else's opinion. It's really difficult to debate, "f*** Wise.", though. (but who would want to?)
  19. Wise really pisses me off. Just shut the hell up. Why do players this bad get to talk to the media? Damn it. This is typical Ozzie, if theres a s***ty player on the team he will play him until the bastard is run out of town.
  20. I hope we come down from the Mitchell playing 2009 or 2010 cloud. We drafted a RAW player, we'll almost certainly have to wait a while to reap the benefits of this pick. He is the epitome of our new draft philosophy, drafting tools over big league readiness. With Beckham, we got both so don't go there.
  21. Wouldn't the removal of Clayton from the rotation be counterproductive to a youth movement?
  22. This has probably been hit on, but NHL 09 is an excellent video game.
  23. Ben Gordon doesn't even pretend to play defense anymore. Good riddance.
  24. I can see the competitive juices are really flowing.
  25. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Mar 22, 2009 -> 02:19 PM) I like how Rick Hahn told Cowley that his sources stink I think its more likely Hahn reads soxtalk than that he normally follows cowley's twitter.
