The reason you can't think of many short starting pitchers is because most short guys can't throw hard. The chance that a guy who is short happens to have good enough velocity to dominate plus good off speed pitches to make him a starter is rare. Stroman is a finished product, his height is irrelevant because he already has the stuff. He doesn't have to get better, talent-wise. He has all the velocity, etc. that you need. He just has to polish like any successful college pitcher would. The height doesn't matter. He has a very developed body, so I think he is less of a durability risk than a Sale type of player. You just pitch them. Danks and Floyd have very, very good track records and I just don't see a reason to believe they're going to fall apart. ptatc has made me feel assured that this Danks issue probably momentary, injury-wise. Humber is more of a toss up due to his lack of track record...but I think something odd has happened recently. He's never been a pitcher that has walked guys, and that's been his issue. I'll be more worried when he's getting beaten at his own kind of game. Teams with sure things end up finding out they are not sure things...look at the Phillies. People get hurt and stuff. You just never know.

I think Gavin is just inconsistent mechanically. This means when he is off, it is not easy for him to just "recalibrate" and start throwing like he wants. This might make him seem nut-less, but he's just streaky...there's lots of pitchers like this. I'd say we don't know much about him as a big game pitcher because there haven't been a great deal of big games since he's been here.

I like Stratton and I like Stroman even more. I like what I hear about Stratton but it seems that a lot of his stuff "Just" appeared...making me wonder how long it will last. Stroman has some great stuff and if it's just the height holding him back, well f*** that. He already has the stuff that height projects a pitcher to get. The scouting reports on Stroman lead you to believe he could be in the bigs relieving right now. Has the stuff to be a dominant SP I don't mind the theory of high upside HS players...but I've had about enough of the athletic high strikeout players at this point. I'd like to see us get a guy who at least doesn't project to strikeout 150 times per year.

I wouldn't call Danks up to sit on the bench. Wait for an injury, if it happens, and you may find a diamond in the rough with Jordan Danks. I'm not sold that he can't be an MLB starter.

I'm not a fan of taking the bat out of Jordan Danks' hands when he was finally hitting his stride. He's not too old to be a prospect, might as well let him hit the rest of the season down in AAA
