QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 01:12 PM) Hinrich on James? That's as much of a mismatch as possible. yea, ignore what i just typed, I kinda dazed off there; I combined Balta and SS2K5's quotes together, and read it as "Luol Deng has, IIRC, been at least moderately effective against WADE in the past" must have been too much Kraft Mac and Cheese during lunch.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 11:32 AM) Luol Deng has, IIRC, been at least moderately effective against James in the past. You don't stop him, but you at least slow him down. I'm pretty sure that was Hinrich?

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Dec 29, 2010 -> 02:33 PM) This thread is great. It took a while to get it going but it was well worth the wait and it is a great list idea. It's very beneficial. I look forward to walking into Binny's and having an idea of what to grab. There's just so many options, and I usually have no idea what to try. I appreciate everyone's contributions and follow-up postings. I agree; there are quite a few beers here that i've seen before, but have yet to try, but now i'm tempted. Thanks for the list; I'm looking forward to see the rest of it.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 12:06 AM) It's a 1-year deal with what I'm sure are heavy incentives. There's virtually no risk and a big reward if he's even 75 percent of what he was a couple years ago. per Rotoworld, it's a $3 million base salary, with incentives that could get him a couple million more.

After the first release of NBA All Star votes, Rose stands in 3rd place for Eastern guards, behind Wade and Rondo. Rose has the 6th most votes overall in the East.

per Rotoworld: Craig Calcaterra of NBC Sports reports that the Rays are nearing an agreement with free agent reliever Bobby Jenks. EDIT: ok, that was from 9:11 last night. Nearly an hour later, Rotoworld then posted this: Marc Topkin of the St. Petersburg Times heard from a source late Wednesday night that the Rays are "not" near a deal with Bobby Jenks.

Kaner could be back by Friday, per Rotoworld: Patrick Kane (ankle) returned to ice on Wednesday for practice and he may be able to dress in Chicago's game against Detroit on Friday. "Friday is a possibility," said Kane. "I just have to see how I am (Thursday) in practice and Friday in the pregame skate and hopefully I can make a decision by then." He has been sidelined since Dec. 6 with an ankle injury. Stay tuned for updates. Dec. 15 - 2:05 pm et

QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 08:40 PM) If the Jays got Lawrie, then that would be a good trade for them. Really, for both sides. Rotoworld is speculating that the Jays are attempting to acquire prospects to trade for Greinke

Looks like Jeter's deal is 3/51

White Sox Off-Season Catch All Thread
smalls2598 replied to Chisoxfn's topic in 2011 Season in Review
Sorry if this had been posted elsewhere, but I'm kinda drunk, and didnt see this elsewhere in my limited search of the site; anyways, per Rotoworld: SI.com's Jon Heyman reports that competing executives believe Paul Konerko "will surely stay" with the White Sox. The White Sox want Konerko back, and he doesn't want to go anywhere, so it's probably only a matter of time before something gets done. Heyman speculates that Paulie would get $13 million per season. Adam Dunn is now in the fold, but he's better off as a DH, anyway, with Konerko spending most of the time at first base. Dec. 3 - 11:57 pm et Source: Jon Heyman on Twitter -
RIP. He was a true fan of his team, and always showed it. And from what I hear, he was a very kind person. I'll miss his unintentional comedy.

I went last winter without a snowblower, and my back did not like that too much. Plus, I have a corner house with a drive way (although it's not too big, maybe 10-15 feet), so there is a little more to do now than I ever had to deal with when living with my parents. So, what do you guys recommend? I almost bought a Craftsman on Friday, but the reviews were iffy, so I passed. After asking around, looks like a lot of people really like Toro. Also, is it worth the extra money to get the Dual stage, or would a Single Stage suffice?

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 09:20 AM) Victor Martinez on the verge on signing with the Tigers. Ken_Rosenthal Ken Rosenthal Serrano reports that Martinez's deal with Tigers will be for four years, $50 million, and that team outbid #RedSox, #WhiteSox, #Orioles, Wow, if they get Martinez and Dunn, they'll sure have a plethora of 1b/DH on the team. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 08:06 AM) The Thome trade happened the week before Thanksgiving. That's usually my mental starting point. KW seems to like to get something big done early if he can. I'm 100% positive it happened the week of Thanksgiving. I remember it quite well: my sister was a big Rowand fan, and her birthday is Nov 25th. The Wednesday before Thanksgiving, i went to Grandstand to buy her an autographed Rowand helmet. On the drive home, the trade was announced. Talk about unlucky timing. -

QUOTE (lostfan @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 09:42 PM) They announced during a break that Greg Oden is done for the year again. I can't help but to feel bad for the guy at this point. games played: 2007: 0 2008: 61 2009: 21 2010: 0 Once this season is over, he will have played in a total of 82 out of 328 possible games.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Nov 16, 2010 -> 03:19 PM) Not sure if you guys wanna branch it out to a separate thread but here is a story on Upton and BoSOX. Link. From that article: "Arizona would likely want three players for Upton — a backend reliever, a starter and a bat."

I was headed up to Milwaukee a few years back for a Brewers game. We were close to the Illinois/Wisconsin border, looked towards the 94 southbound lanes, and saw a guy standing outside his car, hands on his head, with 10+ squad cars behind him. Standing behind the guy was a cop with the biggest fricken gun in the world. I dont know much about guns, so i cant really describe it, but it seriously looked like the gun was from a video game/cartoon, because the gun was just massive and did not seem real. It was pretty awesome.
