QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 11:45 AM) What a travesty that David Ortiz made it over Konerko. And over his own teammate in Youkilis. I would guess Paulie, Rios and Youk are on the final vote. -
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 11:42 AM) What could possibly be the justification for taking Infante? He has 176 f***ing plate appearances. And THIS is why I'm not watching. I would imagine he made it only due to his versatility. Still, I can't believe he made it over Votto.

Can someone explain this? From ESPN "The Mavericks were expected to present Nowitzki with the maximum offer. The most he can re-sign for is four years and $96 million." Why would the max only be 4 years? I thought the max was 6 years??

Got this from Jason Bartlett's Yahoo Fantasy baseball player news: "SS Jason Bartlett's three-run homer ended a streak of 21 consecutive solo home runs that dated back to 2006 when he was with the Twins. Bartlett's streak was the second longest in MLB history behind current Yankee Curtis Granderson, who hit 23 straight solo homers."

Chase Utley, Victor Martinez, Placido Polanco, and Joel Zumaya all put on the DL today, and Jason Heyward was put on yesterday. Wow, that's a pretty significant group of good players.

QUOTE (juddling @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 01:21 AM) about a year ago...i told my eye doctor about my eyes drying up after only 4 or 5 hours of having contacts in. she took a look and told me my tear ducts were crusted over. She advised me next time in the shower to take some J&J baby shampoo (no tears), put a little bit on my finger and rub it in the corners of my eyes every day and said i should notice a difference in a couple weeks. I really thought she was pulling my leg till i tried it. sure enough after a couple weeks....my problem got much better. it didn't go away completely but got alot better. That does sound crazy...i'll have to mention this to my eye doc on Monday.

What kind of Contact Solution and contact eye drops do you use? For solution, i've mostly used Alcon over the past few years, with Bausch and Lomb here and there. As for drops, it has been Clear Eyes. I've been wearing contacts for the past 11 years, and i've had a bunch of issues lately, mostly with them drying out and being uncomfortable. I'm currently trying a trial pair of the Acuvue Oasys, which are definitely more comfortable, but still, they dry out. The eye drops help for a little bit, but that's all. So, what brands do you guys use, and why? Do you feel your eyes respond better to specific brands? Anyone else have dry eye issues, and if so, what do you typically do to help them out?

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 08:59 AM) Beckham almost had a little bloop single last night and he drove a ball hard into the gap that got ran down. He very easily could have had 2 hits last night. The way he's playing at 2B, we need to keep him up. If the rest of the lineup keeps getting hot then it's going to just naturally take pressure off him and he'll start to perform. It's just a matter of time with him because he's too talented to keep hitting the way he has been. As for Viciedo, he needs to be used sparingly just for his bat right now. If he happens to hit his way into a DH role then that's great, then maybe you put him there when you can and work him in on D here and there. But you don't take a guy who isn't going to play premuim defense and insert him in the lineup in a contending season unless his bat has proven it belongs there, and thus far that has not been the case. He's swinging well, but no way do you bench Beckham for him. Omar looks to be in great shape. We should look to acquire some insurance for him, but even at his age I'm not sure we can beat him down with regular play. The guy is in great shape. I know you've been using that avatar for a while, but i guess i never noticed, um, how ballsy Garcia is.

This may have been mentioned before on this site, but in the game Red Dead Redemption, you play a dice game called Liar's Dice against a dude named Lyle Mouton. ha
