More from Rotoworld: A source tells Jim Salisbury that J.A. Happ and prospect outfielder Anthony Gose are "definite" as part of the trade for Roy Oswalt. It's been speculated that right-hander Vance Worley could be the other piece of the trade. We're all pretty well acquainted with Happ by now, but Gose basically profiles as a younger and more raw version of Michael Bourn. The 19-year-old outfielder is batting .263/.325/.385 with four homers and 20 RBI in 418 at-bats with High-A Clearwater this season and is just 36-for-63 (57 percent) in stolen base attempts.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 09:55 AM) Strasburg shut down for next start and maybe start after. They're being precautionary, which is a smart thing to do. But this has to raise some eyebrows and it just goes to show that those people who have been b****ing about his mechanics could be right (like they usually are). The Nationals placed him on the DL, retroactive to July 22nd.

Per Rotoworld: Mark Berman of Houston's FOX 26 heard from sources Wednesday that the Astros have a deal in place with the Phillies for Roy Oswalt and are waiting on the right-hander to waive his no-trade clause. The two sides have agreed on the amount of money that will be exchanged and the players that will head to Houston, according to the report. With those crucial steps covered, we now wait on Oswalt to decide if he wants to spend the next year-plus in Philadelphia. He has a 3.42 ERA, a 1.11 WHIP and 120 strikeouts in 129 innings this season for the fifth-place Astros. Jul. 29 - 12:48 am et A Halladay-Oswalt 1-2 punch would be pretty impressive; if Utley and Victorino come back and are able to play to their standards, the Phillies will be pretty damn good.

QUOTE (DABearSoX @ Jul 15, 2010 -> 11:06 AM) that thread is awesome....my 2nd day at the site...i was pissed. I remember going to the Sox game vs the Cubs the day of the trade. I was with a Cubs friend, and I remember telling him how great Olivo looked so far that season with both his bat and strong arm, and how he would be around for a long time. Then after the game, waiting for the Green Line EL, when my dad calls to tell me he was just traded for Garcia. My friend loved the irony.

I thought this was a little funny; from Scott White, fantasy sports writer for CBS sports (I usually don't like his articles): " Prediction: Carlos Quentin will approach his 2008 numbers. All of a sudden, Quentin has 19 homers. Who saw that coming a week ago? When a player hits a homer three times in four games, it's impressive. When a player hits two homers three times in four games, you begin to wonder if he's actually a robot. Based on the mysterious beginnings of Quentin's hot streak, he might be. It didn't begin just last week. The 27-year-old outfielder is batting .367 (18 for 49) with 11 home runs over his last 16 games after batting .216 with eight home runs over his first 60. Earlier this month, when MLB.com asked him about the secret of his success, Quentin was suspiciously evasive, almost like his responses were ... programmed. "Yeah, I'd rather just keep stuff to myself." Hmm ... because of the social and ethical ramifications of merging man with machine? Even his hitting coach, Greg Walker, is in on the conspiracy, failing to offer a reasonable explanation for the CQ-1000's -- I mean, Quentin's -- improved performance. "I think him coming up with a new routine helped him more than anything." Routine meaning instead of brushing his teeth, he brushes his ... metal teeth? Perhaps I've gone overboard. Perhaps I've looked at one too many box scores over a 3 1/2-month period and need the All-Star break to unwind. Perhaps his surgically repaired wrist is simply feeling better. Or perhaps, in my baseless and irresponsible speculation, I've uncovered a secret so shocking and horrific that no one will believe me until Jose Canseco writes a book about it. Either way, I can safely say the Carlos Quentin I fell in love with in 2008 and the Carlos Quentin I've longed for ever since has returned. I have 100 percent -- or 90 percent, accounting for injuries -- confidence in him going forward. Just don't be surprised if he's the first one off the field during a rain delay. "

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 11:59 AM) You sure? I don't see his name here -http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100704&content_id=11909888&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb I could have sworn they announced his name during the show. Maybe MLB made a mistake on that list? -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 11:54 AM) Wait a minute! I hate the Red Sox. But no Adrian Beltre? He's only been one of the 10 best players in baseball this year. And I'm not surprised at all that Rios/Konerko didn't make it. Beltre did make it
