  1. Looks like the Mets just can't do anything right. After all the injuries last year, they are having more player problems again this year: First Beltran has knee surgery, likely keeping him out until May or June. Then Reyes has the thyroid issue, and will start the season on the DL. And now K-Rod has to take a personal leave of absence to take care of "family business", and according to CBS sports, he will miss the beginning of the season. It's gotta be rough to be a Mets fan recently.
  2. Some news and notes around the league: Lance Berkman was placed on the 15 day DL today Jason Frasnor named Jays closer Kinsler most likely going to start on the 15 day DL
  3. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Mar 20, 2010 -> 02:12 PM) PM sent, hopefully I hear back today so I won't have to push the draft back. in my opinion, we should not move the draft. 11/12 teams have been cooperative and gave you their keepers by the deadline you have asked. I suggest that if he doesn't get back to you by tonight, then you should select his keepers. It's not 100% fair, but it is also not fair to have to move the draft when everyone is already expecting to draft tomorrow.
  4. My final decision: team: Jerry Owens STILL sucks keepers: Ryan Braun Chase Utley Ryan Zimmerman Zach Grienke Clayton Kershaw
  5. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Mar 16, 2010 -> 10:29 AM) Yeah, it's the only fair way. I'm gonna wait until I get everyone's keepers to set the draft order. It went back to random because we had our 12th guy join. cool. and yea, considering it's a keeper league, you have to do the draft as inverse of last year's standings. i have no problem with that, and play the same way in my other keeper leagues.
  6. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Mar 15, 2010 -> 09:43 AM) I'd like to know by Saturday so I can for sure set everything up without a hitch. sounds good. as for the draft order, are we doing reverse order of standings as it was listed on the league's message board? if so, it looks like that it has been reset back to "random" after the last team joined. just a heads up.
  7. when would you like to know for sure? I know the draft is Sunday. Right now, i'm leaning towards: Ryan Braun Chase Utley Zach Grienke Tommy Hansen Ryan Zimmerman But i'm still undecided on either Hansen or Kershaw, and potentially Holliday over Zimmerman.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 03:34 PM) I just joined. How many keepers do we get to select? Do I just send my list to Mhizzle? We get to keep 5 players: 2 hitters, 2 pitchers and 1 wildcard. Which team did you claim.
  9. QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 03:11 PM) See we got 9 now, 3 more. Everyone should post their keepers so that part of the process gets over with by the time the draft comes. Preferably in the league so it is easy for mhizzle to find. and now there are 10 signed up. So, who is claiming which team??
  10. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 01:45 PM) If you don't mind, then sure. No problem. I compared emails/team names from last season to this season. Now, there are some damn good players on each of these teams. I think some of these names will entice teams to sign up team GREEDY: MCabrera, Kemp, JUpton SS Hitmen: Beckham, Howard, Lincecum Sonic: Pujols, Prince, Cliff Lee Lobo: Rollins, Verlander, Johan, Peavy here is a link to the full teams available. Can someone confirm that this is viewable? thanks
  11. Well, i would prefer not to start from scratch. I have some really top talent i'd hate to lose Since it's a keeper league, we may run into this issue every year. There always seems to be teams that just lose interest and don't want to return the next season. What i suggest is that the first team to signs up chooses which of the available teams he'd like to make his team. Second team gets second choice, etc. It won't be too hard to get a list of the players from each team, and I can easily do it for you if you would like.
  12. QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Mar 8, 2010 -> 01:22 PM) I used to frequent pasta palazzo quite often and yes i highly recommend it as well. My favorite pasta place bar none is Pasta Fresh over on Harlem and Roscoe. I was told about this place by this couple that lives next door to me that fairly recently moved to the States from Italy and they completely swear by this place having the most authentic dishes in the city. The place only accepts cash and its only the husband and wife making the pasta on the spot for you so i recommend taking a lot of cash if you ever go there. I've lived near this area for a good 20 years, and have passed Pasta Fresh hundreds of times, but I've never heard of any reviews or anyone ever talk about it. But, thanks to your recommendation, I'll give it a try.
  13. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Mar 8, 2010 -> 08:13 PM) So, my yahoo account locked me out. Says my username is wrong, and i can't for the life of me think of why. God help me if the computer runs a bad draft If your league hasn't drafted yet, then the commish could remove your team. You can then create a new Yahoo id and rejoin the league.
  14. QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Mar 4, 2010 -> 09:30 AM) So, I can't seem to find a PS3 on sale at any stores in the NW suburbs due to the shortage. Any suggestions of where to look? Thanks! I just bought one last Friday at the Costco on Clyborn in Lincoln Park. It's the 120GB one, with one controller, the original Uncharted game, and a Blu Ray remote for about ~$370 with tax. There were at least 30 more units there.
  15. Thanks for the info guys; I'll check out the sites and look the ones you have mentioned. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 03:32 PM) Bats actually can make a huge difference. My team was using some cheap old bats, then my buddy and I went out and got a real nice one and the ball went a lot farther. And I agree with Steve here, the crappy bats for $50 dont have much pop to them. However, the nicer ones allow you to crush the ball further, without having to change your swing at all. I'm still not looking to go nuts and spend $250 on a bat when that money can be wisely used elsewhere. Maybe if I was still playing 3 times a week and my team helped chip in, but I don't, and those bastards are all bums anyways, haha.
  16. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 02:04 PM) Are you playing 12" or 16"? Different kinds of bats work better for each. I had a nice Easton bat, but its now deadened, I think it must have some cracks in it. But it did me well for a bunch of years of both 12" and 16" play, and cost me about $100. It wasn't the fanciest Easton you could get, but wasn't bottom rung either. It was ASA approved. And unfortunately, you are now getting into the worst time of year to buy - spring. 12". And I agree, bad time to buy the bats, and I'd like to go another year with my current one, but it is pretty dented now.
  17. I'm looking to purchase a new slow pitch softball bat, and looking for some suggestions. I last bought a DeMarini 7 plus years ago (or so) which worked out pretty well and definitely gave a little more "pop" than your regular $70 Worth bat. I know pricing has gotten pretty ridiculous, with some exceeding $300. Now, i'm not looking for anything as crazy as that, but more for something to use in a recreational league that doesn't get too intense. I'd like to spend under $200, and preferably lower if possible. Which do you use in your softball league? Which sites are good to find discounted bats, or even "last years models", etc? Or any good sites to find slightly used bats for sale?
