  1. This morning on the Mully and Hanley show, it was reported that Rich Harden was put on waivers and claimed by the Twins.
  2. J.A. Happ has been pretty good as a starter for the Phillies this season, and is probably in the race for rookie of the year. He's on the mound tonight vs the Cubs. The cool thing......he is the brother-in-law to one of my really good friends. Happ flew out his family, along with my friend, to Philly for the World Series last year. Ok, that's my futile trivia for the day.
  3. Edinson Volquez has Tommy John surgery, possibly wont be back until 2011.
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 09:52 AM) I always go to the MLB Network if I want to see highlights and game statuses around the league. Before this year, i used to turn on ESPN news to see highlights/scores around the league. Now it's ONLY MLB network. I love their shows, and really don't mind any of their analysts, and find some kinda funny. And you gotta love the live, in game action.
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 08:53 PM) - Dennis Martinez Perfect Game against the Dodgers - Mark Langston and Mike Witt Combined No Hitter - Tony Gwynn 3000th hit - Rickey Henderson 3000th hit - Rickey Henderson breaking the all time run record - Barry Bonds hitting the HR to tie Hank Aaron on the all time list - Last strikeout of Nolan Ryan's career - All 3 ALCS Games in Anaheim (Sox sweep and clinch to go to the World Series in the final of the 3 games). Holy schnikes, that's one hell of an impressive list! Mine: 1. 2005 ALCS Game 2 2. The Blackout game 3. 2005 ALDS Game 1
  6. From Rotoworld: "According to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette's Dejan Kovacevic, the Red Sox have acquired Pirates first baseman Adam LaRoche. Jul. 22 - 12:18 pm et"
  7. A friend was looking up some information on Wikipedia about Mike North today. Looks like good ole Mike won a pretty impressive award this year: "2009 Moron of the Decade Award from the Obnoxious Fraudulent Jerk Hall of Fame"
  8. Bradley struck out still 1st and 2nd, now 2 out, Lee up
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 03:14 PM) IBB? So Ozzie replaced Floyd with Thome, but then put in Fields cuz Marshall came in?? I know this gets done in NL parks alot, but Thome is not some scrub hitter, why not just let him bat vs the lefty? Just seems like such a waste.
  10. QUOTE (RoyHobbs @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 02:23 PM) Big Z with 80 pitches and Floyd now with 62 through 5. not bad.
  11. BA stole 2 bases on April 13th. Since then....... 0 for 6

    Soxtalk Pets

    After we had to put down our 12 year old miniature American Eskimo, my family adopted a rat terrier mix from the Anti-Cruelty Society. His name was Max, but my sister renamed him Charlie as soon as we adopted him. A few days had gone by, and we thought we had such a quiet dog since he had yet to bark. He was pretty calm. Since then, he doesn't stop, ha. He loves to bark and run around A LOT. We've had him for over a year now. He is the sweetest thing when he is tired, and he's a good boy most of the time, but he then gets into these biting fits where he doesnt want to stop. A quick squirt from a water bottle stops him, though. But yes, i agree....adopt!!! Those dogs (or other animals) need a home where they can be loved, and not locked in a cage.
  14. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 09:48 AM) What record? He broke Fisk's record for most games caught last night.
  15. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 01:08 PM) Looks like i get the Cubs broadcast today. That's alright. I'm not as violently opposed to Kasper and Brenly as some people are. I don't mind Brenly, but i can't stand listening to Kasper when he gets excited.
  16. Same lineup as yesterday Pods 7 Alexei 6 JD 9 Paulie 3 AJ 2 Anderson 8 Getz 4 Beckham 5 Danks 1
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 16, 2009 -> 10:57 AM) Seriously? H. Christ, I didn't even know that. The Cubs traded Derosa to clear a lineup spot for a 28 year old and money for Milton Bradley? I figured he was around 25-26 if they were trying to work him in as a regular. If i were guessing, i would have also said they were in their mid 20's. But i just had to look it up once their ages were called into question, and i was quite shocked. So Soto is their only everyday non-pitcher who is below 27.
  18. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 16, 2009 -> 09:10 AM) Aren't Theriot an Fontenot over 30? No, but close. Fontenot just turned 29 last week, and Theriot will be 30 in December.
