QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 1, 2009 -> 12:47 AM) Scott Podsednik hasn't been anything close to his 2005 self since 2005. If anybody thinks Podsednik will be anything but a placeholder is dreaming. The only thing that is generally true about Podsednik is that he's a better player than Jerry Owens. And that his wife is smoking hot.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 29, 2009 -> 10:45 AM) On a Saturday night, I love that late starting time, and all the weekday games at Vancouver start at 8 PM, which is nice as well I didn't even look at the day of the week. Wow, i'm blind. I take back my brutal comment. I was told that VS network has exclusive rights to Round 2 of the playoffs. Is it possible that there will still be a local channel? I have a friend who doesn't have VS, so I'm just trying to find out the details for him. -

When does the next round begin? I know there are two more matchups that are 3-3, so are they awaiting those to finish before releasing the dates for the next round? -

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 12:04 AM) I'm pretty sure it's the worst playoff loss by any team ever. A 58 point loss should be automatic elimination. Per Yahoo sports "The New Orleans Arena was mostly empty by the end of the third quarter, when Denver led 89-50 on its way to matching the most lopsided victory in NBA playoff history. The Minneapolis Lakers beat the St. Louis Hawks 133-75 in 1956." -

QUOTE (rangercal @ Apr 27, 2009 -> 08:27 AM) Just in case you guys did not check the BG thread http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/playoffs/200...tory?id=4104307 Update, per ESPN Gordon's MRI good news for Bulls Bulls guard Ben Gordon is day to day with a hamstring strain he suffered in the first half of Sunday's double-overtime victory over the Boston Celtics in Chicago. An MRI on Monday revealed nothing unexpected for Gordon, who maintained several times after the game he would be ready to play in Tuesday's Game 5 in Boston. Gordon, who knocked down a 3-pointer to tie it with 4.5 seconds left in the first overtime, tweaked his left hamstring on a drive to the basket in the second quarter of the 121-118 victory. "I was driving and I heard something pop," said Gordon, who incurred the injury while shooting in the second quarter. "It's sore; hopefully it's not too serious. I'm going to do what I need to do." Gordon also was knocked to the floor, on his back, on a hard foul by Glen Davis with 9.8 seconds left in the first OT. The Celtics led by five points in the first overtime and were still up 110-107 after Ray Allen hit two free throws with 9 seconds left. They were then supposed to foul, but instead, Gordon buried another dramatic 3. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 11:52 AM) Sounds like Jags want out of #8 pick. Don't want to pay the contract. And ESPN has a blurb stating that the Broncos are looking to trade to get a higher pick to draft Sanchez. So they may be trading partners. -

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 12:01 PM) Getz and Quentin should be starting but oh well. As long as Q gets in, I'm fine with it. I know 3 weeks into the season is why too early to start the debate, but I think a guy named Ian Kinsler deserves that title right now. Dude's hitting the cover off the ball right now. -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 03:15 PM) Come on....its Hard Hitten Mark Whitten, not Hard Hitting Quentin the MLB channel replayed Whitten's 4 homer, 12 rbi game this past weekend. Wow, talk about a hell of a fantasy day....

QUOTE (joejoedairy @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 11:38 PM) We need to get Quentin in as a starter. We have flexed our voting prowess by getting aj and pods added to the all star team in the past. Chicago got 3 starters in the NHL all star game this year. Everybody needs to step up and vote Q into the all-star game starting line-up. While that is true, the big difference is Chicago only has one hockey team. Remember how Fukudome made the STARTING team last year?? As pathetic as that was, we all know that the Sox don't have as strong of a following, so getting TCQ into the starting lineup will also heavily rely upon fans voting outside of Chicago. -

Per ESPN Report: Rose named Top Rookie Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose has been named the NBA's Rookie of the Year, the Chicago Tribune reported Wednesday. The team is holding a news conference at 3 p.m. ET, at which it's expected the point guard, a Chicago native, will officially receive the award. Rose averaged 16.8 points per game, second to the Memphis Grizzlies' O.J. Mayo among rookies. Rose led all rookies in assists with 6.3 per game and was second in minutes played with 37 per game. Rose joins Michael Jordan and Elton Brand among Bulls named rookie of the year. Brand shared the 1999-2000 award with Steve Francis; Jordan was rookie of the year in 1984-85. Rose is the fourth player since 1990 to be named the league's top rookie and lead his team to the playoffs. The others are Tim Duncan in 1997-98 with the San Antonio Spurs, Chris Webber in 1993-94 with the Golden State Warriors and David Robinson in 1989-90 with the Spurs. -

QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 20, 2009 -> 01:34 PM) Thanks for that smalls. That info is much appreciated especially after NSS told me I have a huge malignant tumor. No problem. Just be safe and have it looked at right away.

QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 20, 2009 -> 11:18 AM) yeah I see a dark spot that floats around when I look from side to side and up or down. But I dont see it if I'm just looking forward. I noticed this a few years ago in my right eye, and had it checked out right away. Turns out they are called 'floaters'. I was told not to worry, as the ones I have are not dangerous. Regardless, every yearly eye doc visit, I mention the floaters, just to make sure the docs know they are still there. Here is an excerpt from AllAboutVision.com So to be safe, have it checked out right away.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 09:58 AM) link It seems that you are right. It's been since before the rules were changed that the Hawks advanced past the 1st round, so I haven't cared to learn the new rules! Hilarious. Yea, I hear ya. i recall someone telling me last year about the newer structure, and how the Stanley Cup Playoffs seeding changed, unlike the NBA. Go Hawks -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 09:11 AM) Hockey is interesting. If you get a hot goaltender, you can ride him to the Cup. One thing that works out enormously in the Hawks' favor is their side of the playoff treewould have them playing the winner of St. Louis/Vancouver if they get past the Flames. Meanwhile, the Sharks and Redwings would be duking it out, if they both get past the first round. Last night's game proves Anaheim was a very unlucky draw for the Sharks in round 1, however. I could easily see it being Wings/Ducks in round 2. Correct me if I'm wrong, as I've only really started following hockey the past few years, but don't they restructure the seeds after each round? So the only way the Hawks would play the St. Louis/Vancouver winner would be if Anaheim or Columbus upset? -

QUOTE (rangercal @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 08:56 AM) source: http://www.rotoworld.com/content/home_NBA.aspx Looks like they will sit, per ESPN CLEVELAND -- The Cavaliers have chosen reward over risk. All-Stars LeBron James and Mo Williams and veterans Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Joe Smith will not play Wednesday night against Philadelphia to rest for the playoffs, despite Cleveland attempting to match the NBA record of 40 home wins in one season. Cavs coach Mike Brown said the decision was "easy" because his team has much bigger goals and he wasn't want to jeoparidze its chances of winning an NBA title by getting a player hurt in a meaningless game. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 09:38 PM) Boston beats Philly 99-98. Bulls control their own destiny as far as the 6 seed. Why did Boston call timeout with 3.0 secs after rebounding the Philly miss? They could of stood there and ran the clock out. And luckily for the Bulls, the 76ers play the Cavs in Cleveland today. So even if the Bulls do lose, the Sixers are gonna have on hell of a time trying to be only the 2nd team to beat Cleveland at home all year -

I went with Marquez, thinking he may make a start when Colon or Contreras needs rest (or hits the DL), and then becomes a regular in the rotation.
