  6. NEW YORK -- Pitchers Cliff Lee of the Cleveland Indians and Brad Lidge of the Philadelphia Phillies were honored Tuesday as baseball's Comeback Players of the Year. Lee went 22-3 with an American League-leading 2.54 ERA. The previous season, he was 5-8 with a 6.29 ERA and was demoted to the minor leagues. "I've never seen a season like that," Indians manager Eric Wedge said. "From start to finish he was incredible. There were real reasons for it. He worked hard phyically to get back." Lidge was a perfect 41-for-41 in save opportunities as the Phillies' closer. In 2007, he converted just 19 of 27 for the Houston Astros. "I never lost confidence in myself, no matter what the years were like or the results," Lidge said. "I always felt I was going to come back and pitch to the best of my ability." 16. QUOTE (Texsox @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 11:52 AM) How could anyone leave Mark off their list? He's like vanilla, nobody dislikes vanilla. I couldn't believe this, either. He was an easy #2 for me.
  17. A couple early memories of Frank: He came up in August of 90, i was ten years old. I remember playing Pete Rose Baseball for the Atari 7800, and since they didn't have player names, my brother and I would make our own lineups with Sox players. I used to love being Frank "Thompson" as I used to call him back then because i couldn't remember his name, haha. Then i remember going to the Sox game the next season with my family. Frank cranked his 1st career grand slam, and my sister, being 5 years old, was screaming at the top of her lungs after the fireworks went off. She loves when I tell that story now.
  18. QUOTE (shipps @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 03:15 PM) They have to be in that group. They are the inventors of that genre and lucky for us the only band of that genre that has stood the test. And I think the fact that they have stood the test of time is that they actually have musical/performance talent unlike those other groups. Hopefully soon they will come out with something new, they have no reason not too in these political times. I modified my post, and it looks like you submitted your reply based off the old one. But looks like we agree, they are the most talented of that genre but my main point was that they haven't released anything new, which is why they shouldn't be included on the list. Anyway, I saw them last August at Alpine Valley, and holy crap, are they amazing live. I've been to many concerts in my life, and I've seen some great shows, but that one topped them all. There is talk that they may do another US tour next year....and i'm crossing my fingers that it's true.
  19. QUOTE (shipps @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 03:01 PM) Rage? I don't think Rage belongs in that group, especially since they came before the Limp Bizkits/Linkin Parks/etcs of the rap-metal or nu metal or whatever it was called. And i'll be honest, i loved the rap-metal ages, but to me, Rage was and still is an original sound, with a kickass frontman and a great band behind him. I'll take me some Rage any day, however, I am biased since they are my favorite band. And to add to it, since their last original cd was Battle of LA towards the end of '99, i dont think they can be included in the group as 'surviving'. The only post 2000 cd released was the Renegades Cover cd, and a Live cd. Of course, they broke up and are now back together, and hopefully they do release that rumored cd of new material one of these days.
  20. QUOTE (watchtower41 @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 01:16 PM) Sweet. MILLER PARK. Finally. Yea no kidding. Been waiting on this for a while.... Tailgating at Miller park is awesome, and now i actually have a reason to get inside for the game.
  21. It depends on the caller. Among them John Rooney's call for the final out for the 2005 World Series Rage's "Bombtrack" Hawk's homerun call Flight of the Conchord's "Boom" Ron Santo's "Oh no, he dropped the ball!" (for all my Cubs friends, of course) All were made by the Motorola Phone Tools Program, and all are very distinguishable.
  22. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 01:49 AM) more realistic to talk about 2500 K's, where would he stand on the all-time list at that point? how many pitchers right now have 2500 or more? There are 29 pitchers with 2500+ strikeouts. Here's the list Career Strikeouts
  23. QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 02:16 PM) About how many pitches was that for Bobby? 10 pitches for 5 outs.
  24. I swear Bobby ALWAYS has to let a runner on base...... ....luckily the double play took care of that base runner.
