  1. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 04:51 PM) Armand's is great stuff. Too bad the one in Elmwood Park closed. I am still looking for a decent replacement in my area. The rumor is Armand's will re-open in EP, but only for carry out pizza.

  5. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jan 18, 2010 -> 11:20 PM) Keith Law indicates Felix Hernandez is signing an extension "If the final parts of the negotiations continue as expected, Hernandez will sign a five-year, $80 million contract, sources told ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney."
  6. QUOTE (103 mph screwball @ Jan 18, 2010 -> 08:06 AM) J.F.P. Oh Yea! When do pitchers and catchers report? Looks like the Sox are one of the last teams to report this year. Some teams pitchers/catchers report on Feb 17th, meanwhile the Sox aren't in camp until the 20th, and the full team is there by the 25th. 2010 Sping Training
  7. All I ever wanted was a cool middle name, but my parents settled for "Anthony". Meanwhile, Jake Peavy's parents thought outside the box, and gave him "Freakin"
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 14, 2010 -> 06:17 AM) Oh, and is there anything I can do to get you to remove that horrific avatar? I mean I'll send you some money if you want. I feel like skinning a squirrel every time I see it. that made me laugh on this dull morning

  11. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 03:30 PM) That's a good point, the short sales and bank-owned properties will be dicey. And there are more of those now. I'd still imagine that for properties NOT in that position, sellers won't be adding contigencies often. More likely to be the buyers. Touche. After going though this short sale ordeal, I HIGHLY recommend avoiding it if you can. It can be great if you want to get more for your money and don't need the place right away, but it is very nerve-racking. Of course, not all go as bad as my experience.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 01:34 PM) The hard part will be finding a place that isn't contingent upon the seller doing something, thus taking up a lot of time. I agree with Mike, and I unfortunately fell victim to this. I was working on a short sale and basically had issues from day 1. There are many obstacles along the way before sale is complete. Two months into the process, I get word that the seller's bank is accepting my short sale offer....and then a day later, the sellers decide to file for bankruptcy, killing my deal. All the time and energy I had put into this house, and then it just goes away like that. Over the next few weeks, I checked out more places, and just fell in love with this one house in Westchester. Saw it on a Thursday, put in an offer that Saturday, and had a signed contract by Sunday. The buying process between the two houses were like night and day.
  13. One of my good friends from high school was third cousins with Ken Caminiti My girlfriend's brother is a really good friend of the lead singer of Plain White T's, Tom Higgenson
  14. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 06:44 PM) I need a Wii version of Paperboy and Ken Griffey, Jr. Presents Major League Baseball and I will be in heaven. OMG yes please! My brother and I spent so many hours playing World Series matchups in that game. While we tried playing with different teams, it always seemed like the best ones were the Twins vs Tigers, which is ironic because we both hate those teams so much now. But Kirby Puckett, Chuck Knoblock, Dan Gladden, Kent Hrbek, Shane Mack, Cecil Fielder, Mickey Tentelton, Lou Whitacker, Travis Fryman, Rob Deer, Twinkie Wells...man, those teams were fun back then. Sadly, I was playing about a year or two ago, and SNES shut off, erasing all the players names. That was a sad day. Never had a chance to change them all again (except the Sox, of course).

  16. Hey thanks guys! I just noticed this post today.
  17. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 10:28 AM) Try westchester on the west side. Its become somewhat affordable and is a good starter area. Hell for that money you can get a good place in Forest park and still have a good nightlife in your city as well as even an El ride to downtown. Since we are almost the same age, Forest Park would be my choice if I was transitioning to the burbs without children. i agree; it's a great place for a starter home. i just purchased a house on the west side of Westchester in October. I really like the area, and you can find nice houses exactly in your price range mentioned. I have a friend who works for the village, and he mentioned that alot of police officers live in the area, so that was a little more refreshing to know it may be 'safer'. And you are right by 290, 294, and 88. The Blue Line EL is only about 10 minutes away in Forest Park. Also, LaGrange is just south of the town, and i hear they have a good amount of bars in the area (i haven't been to them yet). I would recommend staying south of Roosevelt, though; you'd be a little further away from 290, so less noise, plus it just seemed a little more 'shady' north of Roosevelt.
  18. Brewers; i love the 80's "mitt" logo and Miller Park Tailgating rocks.

  22. QUOTE (scenario @ Dec 24, 2009 -> 12:43 AM) Quick trivia question: In 2005, two White Sox players were in the top 15 in the voting for the AL MVP. Who were they? Contreras has to be one. I highly doubt Cotts/Polite would be that high. So i guess the 2nd has to be Dye or Konerko? EDIT: I looked up the answer. Interesting.
