  1. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 09:32 AM) Except Timo doesn't have any options left, and he'd become DFA. Willie does have an option left. Unless the Sox got a backup OFer who could play avg. to above avg. defense and spot start, Timo will be around. Although I'm tempted to still endorse sending Timo packing, that changes things a bit. However, Harris still needs to be on this roster; he's simply to valuable to a pennant race with all he brings to the table. I really don't know what to think anymore. I really want Gload back with the big club, but I'd also like to see Baj get a chance to become a righty specialist of sorts. Now, I'm thinking you're looking at a phantom injury from someone, it's the only way to keep these guys up here. Regardless, Walker oughta go.
  2. Harris needs to stay with the Sox, no questions asked. Yes--I said it. I'm sitcking with sending down Walker for Gload and Timo for El Duque straight up.
  3. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ May 31, 2005 -> 03:28 PM) Confirmed. Felt is Deep Throat: per Bob Woodward Things are going to get real interesting. I can't wait to hear from the professor.
  4. Looking for a little help tonight: Does anyone have a Pepsi product in the house? I'm looking to buy tonight's tickets on Ticketmaster, but I'm having some difficulty without that damn Pepsi UPC. Thanks in advance for the help, it's really appreciated!
  5. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ May 31, 2005 -> 10:06 AM) Please excuse me, I'm a youngin. Does this sound legit? I was thinking that Woodward was going to say something when Deep Throat died. Guess Deep Throat beat him to the punch. I have an email in to Prof. Gaines, but, I really don't know what to make of this. Although this is a name we've come across in some research, I have a hard time believing the man is not Fred Fielding. Remember: Woodward was told he could reveal his source after Deep Throat died. Clearly, this man is not dead. Sorry, but my mind is a big haze right now, I've had my whole world turned on end.
  6. QUOTE(56789 @ May 31, 2005 -> 09:59 AM) Where you searching "deep throat" on google and found this story and decided to post it? I've been researching Deep Throat and following the research at my university for a year now. This is not the name my school came up with and it will be awfully interesting to see what transpires. This man, Felt, is not the name my university came up with, Fielding. This could be the news story of the year. http://www.comm.uiuc.edu/spike/deepthroat/

  8. Please, please, please, please go back and re-read the 35,000 old posts on the matter before starting a new thread. I'm beggin' you.
  9. QUOTE(soxman35 @ May 30, 2005 -> 08:17 PM) sweet I like that guy alot one of the greatest managers i have ever seen today he did not look to good thow hope we keep him for a long time One of the greatest huh? Personally, I think Danny Glover is a better X's and O's guy.
  10. QUOTE(JoshPR @ May 30, 2005 -> 08:09 PM) Prepare to pay up and lay down the Kool Aid ^^^^^^ I'm thinking 17.
  11. QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 30, 2005 -> 08:14 PM) Good, I'll add you to the attendance list for our next BE GOOD worship meeting. On the docket, 21 reasons why we love Mr. Good. Good. Now shut up and watch Miss Universe. It's my favorite part of the competition.
  12. QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 30, 2005 -> 08:11 PM) Please remind yourself that Mr. Good started this thread. Now.... :begood You've gotta remember, this guy once had a cult following at Soxtalk. I guess you weren't here when he told everyone to BE GOOD SONS and CO. Oh, no, actually...I'm quite familiar with the Be Good phenomenon. I love this guy.
  13. Isn't wizard spelled with one "z"? :begood
  14. QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 30, 2005 -> 07:53 PM) I was a lot more pissed about Reed, but I got over it somewhat once we got Pods then got over it once I saw how Pods has changed the game for this team. Even though they aren't the same player at all, I was alright losing Reed after we got Pods. Kenny signed Podsednik to fill the Reed void and Pierzynski to fill the Olivo void. ...not a whole lot to complain about.
  15. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ May 30, 2005 -> 06:17 PM) The stuff about Hermanson, I totally misheard that. Like I said, I wasn't listening very close, I heard Ozzie talking about "Hermy" telling him something was tight, and I just thought Hermanson. I totally forgot about Herm Schneider. Sorry, all. Me Wait, so you're telling me there was nothing wrong with Hermanson? Well, why let facts get in the way ey' WHarris? Wow. In a weird way, I was almost hoping something was wrong with Hermanson, to at least give Ozzie somewhat of a chance to defend his decisions.
  16. QUOTE(nvxplorer @ May 30, 2005 -> 06:27 PM) No, you're not off base. I don't disagree, as I stated. The point is, regardless of what happens or may/could have happened on the field, you're not going to have as much success against better teams. That's just the way it is. Good teams are better at taking advantage of mistakes. The Sox have split with Baltimore. Swept Toronto. 2-3 against Texas (and I'm not convinced the Rangers weren't stealing signs in Arlington), and now 3-2 against Anaheim. Managerial decisions and hitting can be blamed, especially the hitting. There are a plethora of other reasons that decide ballgames as well. Luck - that wild pitch that bounced right back to Molina in Anaheim. Defense - today's game. Could the Sox have taken a game or two that they didn't? Sure, but anything can happen. There will be games where the opposition screws up, and if the Sox can't take advantage of it, they will pay. So far, I'm satisfied with the play against division leaders, but I agree that there is much room for improvement. On that note, I'll see my way out of this thread. Excellent post, as every point you made was vaild. Time will tell the true skill of this ballclub and its current dynamic. Personally, I think things need to change if we want to hang around come October. In the meantime, sit back, relax, and strap it down because Ozzie and the White Sox anemic offense are sure to give us many more gems this season. Go Sox.
  17. QUOTE(nvxplorer @ May 30, 2005 -> 06:10 PM) I don't disagree with you, but my view isn't as strongly held as yours appears, either. It's worth noting that during that 10-10 stretch, the Sox have played Baltimore, Texas twice, and now Anaheim twice. I fully expect the Sox to roll again once they get back to playing the Central. Some of Ozzie's moves have baffled me as well, but I think it's a little early to say he'll get his head handed to him in the playoffs. This is only his second year as a manager. Hopefully, he's learning his lessons. Yes, but it's one of those things that if you were actually watching the games, you would know that a number of those losses could either: a) be attributed to a poor mangerial decision or b ) complete lack of execution on offense Or am I way off base on this? EDIT: Before you respond, let it be known that my post wasn't intended to be an attack on your baseball intellegence, loyalty, etc. After reading it, I found some of that may be misintrepted.
  18. QUOTE(Yossarian @ May 30, 2005 -> 06:03 PM) I've been following baseball and the Sox since Eisenhower was President, but hey, if you don't like what I post you can fire away. This team is 10-10 since starting off at 24-7. They've looked less than ordinary. The offense is in shambles, I mean come on look at this lineup. Pathetic. They've got to step it up. You can't expect your starters to pitch a gem, each and every time out. The manager tries my patience at times. I'm surprised some of you didn't hear me yelling and screaming in the late innings of today's game. Ozzie will get his head handed to him in the playoffs just like Manuel was schooled but good by Lou Piniella in 2000. Yes, they are 34-17. Great. They're going to need the starters to stay on top of their games, and have at least a couple of their hitters come alive. This manager is going to blow a game every now and then. Guys like Leo Durocher, Al Lopez, Chuck Tanner and Lou Piniella would steal you a game sometimes. Hopefully Ozzie has some kind of learning curve. A top of the line manager he ain't. Excellent post and I couldn't agree more with that statement. (See post-game thread)
  19. QUOTE(nvxplorer @ May 30, 2005 -> 06:04 PM) I'm with ya on the field play, but I wouldn't go so far to blame the entire organization. ...I wasn't going to mention this, but the hot dog vendor in section 115 was really lax this afternoon. There. I said it.
  20. QUOTE(Winnin Ugly @ May 30, 2005 -> 06:00 PM) Just beacause someone who has less than a 100 post doesnt mean he is a casual fan... Hell I work 16-18 hours a day and cant always have time to make a post does that make me less of a fan than someone who sits here all day... Read the thread in its entirety and then post. I'm out; my blood-pressure can't handle this stuff today. It's way too nice out.
  21. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 30, 2005 -> 05:51 PM) We have been playing like s*** and we played like s*** today. You must not be watching the games if you think we are currently a great team. BINGO! Now, was that really that difficult to decipher. Christ, it's not quantum physics, lay off the kool-aid folks, I know it's a holliday weekend, but c'mon.
  22. QUOTE(danman31 @ May 30, 2005 -> 05:50 PM) Back the f*** off Addison. We won the f***ing game and you are intent on b****ing and raining on everyone else's parade. Go punch a wall. ...yes, I'm always the pessimist. If you can't find anything wrong with the way the Chicago White Sox organization (from top to bottom) won this game today, I'd love to live in such a blissful place. Yikes, the minute you question this team's play or, our trusty skipper, you lose all credibility. I love it.
  23. QUOTE(BobDylan @ May 30, 2005 -> 05:46 PM) Yea, because post numbers define who is really a fan around here. That was an ignorant comment if you ask me. Content not quantity. EDIT: Excellent use of the green font though
  24. Two very excellent posters. Happy Happy Birthday Birthday!!!
  25. QUOTE(Cubs Suck23 @ May 30, 2005 -> 05:33 PM) who the hell is a casual fan. Oh...I don't know. Perhaps someone with: A) Your Soxtalk handle B ) Your post history C) Your defense of this team after an absolutely pathetic week of baseball on all fronts. Yeah, you're right. Who the hell is a casual fan?
