  1. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:27 PM) See my previous post. Eric Chavez or the tri-fecta of Perez, Valentin, and Nakamura. Um...and you're telling me Eric Chavez can be had? Yeah...well, I'm going to have to go ahead and trade for Eric Chavez... Yeaaaaaaaaaa...
  2. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:22 PM) Excellent post. Chavez probably realizes that the Sox are his best bet to get out of Oakland since we have Cruddy. Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Hell, if he really wants to leave the A's, he probably wouldn't even have to leave the state.
  3. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:24 PM) It wasn't locked to begin with. I just clicked reply. that's not an option even for us lowly mods if you select poll only. Oh Christ. Well folks, we are going to be on the honor system then here. Please, please, show some restraint and just vote.
  4. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:21 PM) Endy Chavez is Awesome. I know you're an admin and all, but was this really necessary? I'm not laughing. EDIT: Lock it back up.
  5. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:19 PM) Honestly, who else would be interested in getting Chavez if Oakland did dangle him?
  6. That's it. I'm not allowing another 45 page thread on an already tired issue. No regurgitation, just vote. Thanks.
  7. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:06 PM) I'm looking at the print edition of the Daily Herald right now. Scott Gregor wrote a column this morning that this rumor exists. There is no mention of how and where the rumor got started, nor are there any comments from Oakland or White Sox sources. Excellent post and I believe this is exactly the case. We have now confirmed this rumor exists. We are really making some positive strides. :banghead
  8. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 10:04 AM) Next time you go into the chat, check out the title that comes onto the screen. "Soxtalk Chat - Sponsored by Pabst Blue Ribbon and Nuke Cleveland" Oh. My. God. I seriously nearly choked on my sandwich laughing so hard. That's too perfect. Funny thing is, I was thinking about asking for that sponsorship a week ago. It's just too funny.
  9. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 10:02 AM) Here goes... Atta' boy. Now, we have to get the third boy in the band.
  10. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 09:38 AM) Scouts and other baseball people think the Angels might have recalled first baseman Casey Kotchman to showcase him for potential trades. The player the Angels are most interested in acquiring is the Kansas City Royals' Mike Sweeney, and the Royals could use Kotchman at first base for years at a bargain-basement price. I could really see this happening. As could I. This makes picture perfect sense for both parties. EDIT: FWIW, Swenney is a California kid and I'm sure the Royals organization, an organization that cares for him like a son, would want him to be very comfortable with his new location. Well, that, and I think he has a no trade clause. I expect this deal to be done as soon as possible.
  11. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 09:47 AM) What happened to the PBR, you're killing me here man. Alright, let's rock the PBR again. You oughta bring it out yourself my man. The trifecta: aboz, Addy, and Nuke.
  12. QUOTE(ISF @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 09:44 AM) What I'm saying is those people wouldn't be complaining if his free swinging had resulted in a HR. And it almost did. Had that ball been fair, how many people are yapping about Uribe's free-swinging? Exactly. If the queen had balls, she'd be the king.
  13. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 09:43 AM) Per the Daily Herald, Frank is going back on the DL. So Ozzie probably won't send anyone down. Of your choices? Jizzcan. I believe that has since been revisited. It's somewhere in the latter pages of the Ozzie & his bullpen thread.
  14. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 09:39 AM) I hope this isnt a repeated poll Believe it or not, this isn't even a repeated topic.
  15. QUOTE(ISF @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 09:37 AM) He doesn't need to match Vlad's production, you don't get that from a SS unless he's named Alex Rodriguez or Miguel Tejada. Uribe batted .280 with 25 HRs last year. He'll probably bat around .265-.270 with 25 HRs this year. Not a guy you pinch hit for, especially when he's on one of his hot streaks. I can't believe Uribe is even being discussed here. What Uribe did or did not do in the 9th is not why we lost. Agree on Uribe is not the man to blame. But how in the hell can you even begin to compare Vlad's free swinging to that of Uribe's. It can't be done. That's my point. If folks want to argue Uribe isn't the guy for that spot because he takes some of the nastiest hacks in the history of baseball, I'll defend that.
  16. We have this other team in Chicago you would die for.
  17. QUOTE(ISF @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 09:31 AM) Nobody complains about Vladimir Guerrero's free swinging. Uribe is not to blame. Uribe shouldn't be PH for there. We shouldn't be batting there. The game should be over. Our offense put up 7 runs. When your offense puts up 7 runs, it's on your pitching to execute. Meet last night's goats; Jose Conteras, Kevin Walker, and the King of Bullpen Mismanagement, Ozzie Guillen. The minute Uribe's offensive production matches that of Vlad's we can stop b****ing about his swinging from the heels--not one moment sooner.
  18. Ozzie: I'm not accepting you apology and that's that. hrumph. Whatever; let the sideshow continue. Personally, I think both Ozzie and Brantley should piss up a tree.
  19. Bingo. I don't even consider this news. It was a given.
  20. This has nothing to do with Frank's injury. Yup, I said it.
  21. QUOTE(nvxplorer @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 09:41 PM) Yeah, I thought about that after posting, but I assumed the point was understood. Walker is a virtual rookie, having pitched 28 2/3 since 2001 and only 95 in his career. At this point, at the big league level, evaluating his performance is no different than evaluating a rookie. Ah, yes. Figured as much. Sounds good.
  22. Nah, you're right. This did merit its own thread.
