  1. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 08:40 AM) Frank is taking ground balls at 1B this weekend to see if he can do it. My sense is they'd like to extend Gload's rehab assignment but from what they've said about his arm, it won't be good enough for the OF the whole year. I can't remember the first to say it, but I think the poster may have really been on to something when he/she said Timo was audtioning for an OF/1B slot the other day. Ozzie is so freaking obsessed on having guys that can play multiple positions, he may very well leave one of the best LH in the organization down in Charlotte simply because his arm won't allow him to make the occasional spot start in the OF. This just amazes me; someone really needs to come in and slap some sense into Ozzie. BRING HIS ASS UP!
  2. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 08:13 PM) I think for the past few seasons you've been looking at a six inning game in Aneheim with. Donnely, Shields, Rodriguez. That is just unfair. And I wish that Ozzie would just stick to Politte in the 8th and Hermanson in the ninth and say f*** matchups. Give your guys defined roles and stick with it. Absolutely. The Angels were another team that came to mind. However, it's almost a different beast when discussing the Angels; that has to be one of the soundest bullpens in recent memory--they have unreal talent in that pen.
  3. Who the hell is this Cotts guy we have had out the past two times? Good morning--good afternoon--good night.
  4. Is there a stat for running one's self out of an inning? If so, the White Sox under Ozzie Guillen's watchful eye have to be amongst the worst in history.
  5. For the longest time, I have envied any ball club lucky enough to posses the power of the seven inning game. Whether it was the Dotel-Wagner, Mota-Gagne, etc. combo, those teams seemed to have an almost unfair advantage, knowing full well that the ballgame was nearly over after the seventh. My question to you: Does Ozzie know he may be sitting on a very similar Pollitte-Hermanson combo? Although those aren't the sexiest names when discussing relievers, I believe those two have the ability to nail the game down in the eighth and ninth respectively. Both pitchers are pitching about as well as they ever have in their careers, and in many respects, pitching beyond their means--ride the hot hand.
  6. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 07:53 PM) I bet the vendors at USCF love El Duque. They make a lot more money when he's on the hill. Could you imagine if the vendors were allowed to serve into the ninth inning during the Koch era? By this time, we may have had one of the highest payrolls in baseball. (of course, this point is completely lost if you were refering to his speed, or lack thereof, on the mound )
  7. I'm going to bring this up before Ozzie starts making any moves: If he dares "save" relief pitchers this series and tries to snake wins away from the opponet by sneaking past poor RP preformances, I'm going to lose every ounce of faith I have left in our skipper. He needs to pull out ALL the stops to take at least 2 of these 3 games.
  8. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 07:45 PM) Hawk has a cold or something. I sure hope he does, cause my Dad and I have questioned his voice more than a few times this evening. Here's hoping that Jermaine has found himself for the long term.
  9. Jermaine Dye 3-3 with 2 RBI Sox lead 6-4. Call it a night Duque.
  10. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 07:41 PM) The sox as a whole have mastered swinging at pitches that are balls. Oh, so you're not going to praise Uribe for swinging at a ball over his hat two nights ago? EDIT: I refuse to praise Uribe for tomahawking the s*** out of that ball, the thing was above the bill of his hat.
  11. Carl grooved it. That'll get the job done. 5-4 good guys. Who's wanting Jon Rauch now? Carl's been worth every cent/player.
  12. QUOTE(quickman @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 07:38 PM) can Paulie sign up for Don Beebe's speed camp? Perfect.
  13. QUOTE(Ozzie's Accent @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 07:29 PM) I am expecting a White Sox to get thrown at sometime during the game. Not that El Duque has intentionally hit the batters he hit but a team gets tired of getting drilled. He's just wild but we'll see. I've been meaning to mention this for some time now: you have the best Soxtalk handle bar none. Bravo.
  14. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 07:28 PM) I hope he has a compression fracture of his third metacarpal. Where is ptac when we need him? I hope he picks out a nice spot on the bench beside Harold Baines.
  15. Jesus H. Tapdancin' Christ Duque, ride the pine. I've seen enough.
  16. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 07:25 PM) Now Westbrook is finding his stride because the offense is going back into slumber.... Naturally. We have our foot on this guy's throat and we let him get back in the game, regain some confidence, and shut the door. I love it.
  17. BTW, anyone have tickets they are interested in getting rid of for tomorrow's game? I'm thinking about making the trip despite the horrible weather predicitions.
  18. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 07:22 PM) Are munchkins reading off the names today? $$Rich$$ munchkins.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 07:19 PM) Exactly, I don't know how anyone could say his stuff looks good. His fastball is either hitting the batter or ends up being a meatball. I can't believe we gave him a 2 year deal. Hopefully our offense can continue to get cheap hits. Being a junkballer, you just have to pray he's on; because if he's not sharp, pitches fly all over the place. I have nothing against junkballers, but you have GOT to have command of your pitches if you rely on throwing garbage, otherwise you're gonna get hit HARD.
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 07:16 PM) His location is just killing him right now. It's the same thing that cost him against the Rangers. What location?
  21. This friggin guy. Hernandez won't last through 5.
  22. Didn't I say Hernandez would give up at least 4? Thought so. This game is gonna suck.
  23. QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 10:28 AM) Its s***ty but there ya go! "Chavez or Die Trying"
  24. QUOTE(southsider17 @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 10:11 AM) I say Randa would be a better deal. He'd cost alot less and is also an improvement over Crede, defensively (similar FLD% but much better range) and offensively (similar power numbers but much better BA and OBP). Everyone keeps bringing up Randa but the guy seems very happy in Cincy and is making $2.15 M. It'll take some talent to get this guy and I just don't think it's worth it.
