  1. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 10:20 AM) Well this is a bit extreme, but the position players go early and late and the middle rounds are pitcher heavy. The Sox took 2 pitchers from the start so there you go. Also, I might be wrong, but I thought this draft was thin with position players. Quick question: With Kenny head-over-heels in love with guys like Pedro Lopez, does that factor in when drafting? For instance, will Kenny be hesitant to draft a middle-infielder early because he thinks there is some can't-miss talent playing in either AA or AAA. I know a lot of times you want to draft talent, regardless of who you have playing in front of him, but does that play even a small role when drafting? And SS, I totally agree. My kid won't even know he has a right hand until the second grade.
  2. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 07:11 AM) Is anyone worried that we lack position player prospects and we took 13 pitchers in 17 picks? Mike, when your kid decides its time to try his hand at baseball, you make damn sure he throws with his left hand. I'm serious. Whenever he goes to throw the baseball with his right, slap it. I don't know jack about the MLB draft, but isn't this pretty par for the course? You always hear that pitchers, especially lefties, have a future in baseball. However, with the exception of Anderson, Sweeney, etc. a lot of our starting position players in the future would appear to come from either free agency or via trade, so if Kenny is looking to promote home-grown pitching talent instead of position players, I suppose I'm on board with that.
  3. Poor guy; here he thought he was going to make a nice splash at Soxtalk, only to get completely shot down in flames. Timo sucks. He's awful. In fact, I would personally gather up a collection to buy his plane ticket to Charlotte. Does anyone mind if we send him on Spirit Airlines? He doesn't deserve Delta, or even Ted.
  4. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 09:25 AM) By the way, the trib is blaming last nights loss on a cat running on the field. The curse of the black and white cat. He's actually using my sig. I love it.
  5. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 11:45 PM) ...as well as Jon Garland, Neal Cotts, and to a lesser extent, Willie Harris and Joe Crede (like it or not). There's some good homegrown talent on this team. Correct me if I'm wrong, but all three of those guys were not drafted by the Sox. However, I suppose they came up through our system.
  6. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 11:21 AM) The thing is with having only 1 pick in the first two plus rounds, we HAVE to make sure they are signable. This was the smart move. As always, Big Mike is the voice of reason. Great call big guy and something I completely neglected. Welcome aboard Lance!!! Let the debate begin.
  7. Boras rears his ugly head once more. Let's hope this kid is a winner.
  8. SO. FAST. I serisouly can't believe this. Sorry, I'm just stunned.
  9. Townsend gets drafted #8 two consecutive years.
  10. There ya go Jas, a Titan off the board.
  11. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 11:10 AM) Addison this is by far the slowest MLB draft I have seen also :-). I can't believe what I'm watching right now. I have a call into Paul Tagliabue
  12. THIS DRAFT FLYS!!!! Oh my goodness.
  13. Alright guys, quick question: As many of you know, I'm head-over-heels for the NFL draft, as I spend countless hours with my notebook, online, etc. That said, I'm very familiar with consensus picks and such. I know Justin Upton is the consensus #1 as he has been compared to such can't-miss guys like ARod, Griffey, etc, but are there a consensus 2-5 or 2-10 this year? I'm really green when it comes to the MLB draft; what names am I going to look out for?
  14. If Contreras doesn't fall in love with his splitter, we should slug this one out. I'm thinking W. EDIT: Damnit, I just realized we are back to 19 games over .500. Let's finally get to 20 boys, c'mon!
  15. I really like tonight's lineup; I think it's perfect for interleague matchups--no complaints.
  16. He must have been hanging out at Terrell Davis' house.
  17. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 01:00 PM) Draft starts tomorrow, and I'll be posting in this thread the picks of the White Sox. Figured as much; I just read it started today, so I was deeply vexed. I'm looking forward to watching this with you guys as this will really be the first time I've ever paid attention to the MLB draft--should be fun.
  18. Sox better off IN Addison!?!? Keep me out of this.
  19. If the draft has started, can you guys update some of the selections? I'm really quite confused.
  20. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 12:39 PM) Tomorrow and Wednesday Holy s***! The actual draft? When does the draft begin? The D'Backs have the first pick, right? If so, when are they on the clock?
  21. Easy questions: when is the draft?
