  1. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 11:03 PM) And with my 3,000th post I have decided to become the Roberto Clemente of Soxtalk. Farewell forever, for this is my final post. See ya next week!
  2. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 10:03 AM) if you have an old ps2 (not the really thin one) then yes, you have to buy the ps2 network adapter. Then, just use the cord your bro uses for his xbox and plug it into the adapter, setup is easy after that, just choose the auto install. Then as soon as you sign onto MVP, it'll download the rosters. It's as easy as possible. How much for the network adapter? Is it worth purchasing on my own or should I try to bum one off someone?
  3. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 10:08 AM) That's a nice little mall, although it reeks of German snobs. Did you get any beef jerky? :salivating Passed on the jerky. After dropping nearly a ten spot on gummies, I had to get the hell out of there.
  4. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 09:54 AM) I wonder what is next for the Bulls. It will be interesting to see where they go when contract talks open up again next year. Knowing Reinsdorf, anywhere but MVP. BTW, I see Hamerhead in here. I made it over to that German deli the other day and went to town on the Haribro gummies!
  5. Regarding the online roster download: Do I actually have to purchase some sort of PS2 modem thingy? Although I haven't tried yet, I'm worried that is going to be a problem. Now, my brother plays Halo online with our Xbox and he uses some sort of cord that goes through my family's PC and goes that route. Can I snag that cord and use it for the PS2? Hopefully. Damnit, I really want to get this dynasty up and rolling but this roster thing is taking a while. Also, will I have to register and sign my life away to EA or is that all pretty easy once you're on? Does it clearly label the download and, if so, do you just go ahead and save it on the memory card? Thanks.
  6. Maggs, we hardly knew ye.
  7. I'm a loyal MVP listener; I can't stand the Score. However, I will do whatever it takes to listen to the Sox and I'm thrilled they are keeping the Rooney-Farmer tandum in tact. I wonder what MVP will do to counter.
  8. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 11:25 AM) Stop. Please stop. These trade threads are going crazy, it's all pie in the sky stuff. Yes I know I can just skip over something I think is dumb, but this stuff is way out of control IMO. Chuck Lamar the Tampa GM is notorious for being tough to deal with and demanding a king's ransom for his players. Huff's value is not low, not in Lamar's mind and that's the key. Bill Mueller ... see last post in that thread. Mid season pick ups are one thing but they are looking to add, not replace. Think prospects in terms of who might go in a trade. Ty Cobb may be traded as well. I hear he may go to the White Sox.
  9. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 09:40 AM) Tonight, we'll see just how much Garland has advanced. We need Jon to be a stopper tonight, and that takes a special type of pitcher to fill those shoes. The times, they are a-changin'. Who would have thought Garland would become this team's stopper? We really need a W, Jon.
  10. Can someone do some research and tell me the last winning-team in a pennant race that made three high-profile trades to drasticly alter the makeup of said winning club before the trade deadline?
  11. Yup, we all did know this was coming. Ultimately, things happen for a reason. I really think this is the place Dee needed to be this year. It's your show now, baby.
  12. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 07:24 AM) Hmm I wonder where they all ran away to? Also, Gload is done for the year, I get the feeling. Rogo time? This really puts the Sox in a tough spot; if true, the sox may honestly have to start looking for a backup 1B in the mold of an Olerud or such.
  13. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 10:12 AM) I don't disagree with anything you've said here. I just don't see it happening any time soon. Sadly.. the bad outweigh the good at this point still, IMO anyway, and I don't think they will do anything more than they are for a while. As it is.. there really are a lot of promo's. We had a link up.. but I know WSI has the master promo code list on their site. There really are a lot. Ultimately, this it what it all comes down to. Sad, but true.
  14. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 10:08 AM) I'm getting to the point where I don't want to sit in the outfield...that's where you get the troublemakers now... That's why we'll shove them all up in the upper-deck. I mean, history shows that confining the less fortunate in one area does wonders for the community. www.thecha.org
  15. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 10:04 AM) They do as it does.. but it never fails.. some get down. Some lie, cheat, and steal to get to the LD... :rolly Then there's the fighters.. Sadly that effs things up for the fans that really just want to go and enjoy the game. There's no doubt about that. Many times, these lower ticket prices are soley responsible for the..um, how do you say...less-intelligent fans. However, I still believe selling UD tickets for five bucks a piece would be a very productive thing. Not only would it generate a buzz about wanting fans and welcoming fans to the ballpark, but it may actually increase payroll, renovations and such as that is money pumped directly in the Sox pocketbook. With that, however, the Sox may be labeled the "cheap" alternative in town and may suffer with that lower-calibur fan/trouble-maker. Still, it may be something to try in the future.
  16. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 08:55 AM) Cheapening the product doesn't attract "good fans", IMO. Steff, you make a great point, but I have one question in reply to that. Doesn't the USCF crew maintain that fans with UD tickets are restricted to the UD? If so, I believe that may weed out a lot of the unfavorable actions that come in response to these lower ticket prices. Overall, I think you would see a lot of fans upstairs purchasing concessions, making noise for their White Sox, and filling up a lot of blue (for now) empty seats.
  17. Atta' boy D!!! Great poster!
  18. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 11:10 PM) It's got more basis than some of the, "How about a trade for Omar Vizquel/A-Rod/Ken Griffey" bulls*** we've seen the past week. It makes sense, too. Youkilis is ready to play everyday, and they need a spot to play him. Apparently, 1B isn't the spot -- they want him at third. Keith, it's all bulls*** to me. Maybe I'm just the wrong guy to ask. Have fun with this one fellas! Nite.
  19. QUOTE(shagar69 @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 11:07 PM) so is this an actual rumor or some WSI bulls*** There is no base to this what-so-ever. Pure conjecture. But, hey, after two devestating losses, people can conjure up all the trades their hearts desire.
  20. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 05:14 PM) He was apparently good. What was that record he broke in his senior year at Boise? I was pissed off the day I saw that they signed Krenzel because I knew that was the end of Dinwiddie. P.S. - His name is awesome. Off the top of my head: top passer rating in Division I-A football. ...I may be wrong. but I doubt it.
  21. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 05:13 PM) http://faqs.ign.com/articles/592/592307p1.html Since I like ya so much, here you go Addy. Those are the Top 100 in the game, with the real player name in (). Just go to roster mang. then edit players, and you can change all the players names. Takes about an hour. You're the best, buddy.
  22. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 05:09 PM) I didn't think he could even play college football that well. The guy thought he was a scrambler because he had one good game against, I think, the Illini. Oh well, good riddance...he was awful. I would have much rather had Ryan Dinwiddie instead of him. You and me both. I loved that kid in college and I still think he may land a back-up gig someday in the NFL. I believe some time in Europe would do him well. Although he doesn't have ideal size, he has all the leadership qualities and can throw very accurate passes up to 25 yards.
  23. I can't recall anytime in recent memory the Sox organization has had so many things go their way--dating all the way back to the Maggs situation. Damn.
