Jackson Verdict: What will it be?
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 10:56 AM) The U.S. public will realize how much valuable time has been wasted on this case, will riot, and will destroy the entire city of Santa Monica in a bloodthirsty quest for revenge. None will survive. The event will be edited out of history texts, and by act of Congress, the existence of a person named "Michael Jackson" will be expunged from history. All evidence that he ever existed will disappear. America will then enter a new golden age of enlightenment and learning, where we lead the world to a peaceful, happy future. Thousands of years down the road, historians will discover the great "Michael Jackson purge" in documents buried in archives under the U.S. Capitol building, and will credit this purge with leading to a thousand years of peace and prosperity amongst all men and nations. Welcome to the post of the month club!

Sox @ Padres 6/10/05 Game Thread
QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 10:48 AM) or just have like an *invite only forum where all the (good) regulars can go. too much work for jason though You might be on to something. A lot of these fan-sites are also an outlet you have to pay a membership fee for...something else I would absolutely consider in hopes of weeding out this recent influx or stupidity and daftness.

Sox @ Padres 6/10/05 Game Thread
QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 10:45 AM) it's been bad. seems to only be in pale hose though....which is unfortunate. It has to stop...all kidding aside. I know this isn't the place to vent, but it has been unbearable. We need to either: a) start banning these ignorant fools, or b ) single-handedly close each and every ignorant thread. It's really ruining the Soxtalk expierence.

Dee Brown Breaks Foot
QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 08:39 AM) Finally we catch a break, no pun intended. He had no business going into the draft, but he seemed VERY content with going in the very late 2nd round and getting any money out of it. Now we'll have to monitor the weber/dee relationship after the latest developments. ^^^^^ Perfect.

Flakes suspended indefinitely
QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 08:52 AM) What a joke...way to possibly ruin your career before it even starts. Brasic time indeed. IMO, Brasic would have started anyway, but Flakes would have certainly seen some playing time. He would also have been the starter the next 3 years if he developed at all this year. Is this the 100 national recruit kid? If not, who gives a damn?

He'll walk.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER

FutureSox to interview Lance Broadway
Given the current economic crisis in the Philippines, what measures would you like to see taken--either foreign or domestic? Cheers, AddisonStSox

SALARY CAP AGREED ON FOR NHL!
I'm happy for you hockey-enthusiasts--I really, truly am. That said, the NHL has a long, long way to go if they want to bring back the fans (whether they were casual or die-hard) and take a long, hard look at contraction and such. Good luck fellas.

Draft Banner?
What do ya think? Is it time for a new banner showcasing Broadway or some other type of draft theme?
-
Ugie Traded
At least you Polanco-enthusiasts will get to see your collective man-crush 10+ times a season.

Draft Day 2 Thread
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 11:07 AM) $5.3 million? Isn't that pretty insane? The guy isn't THAT good is he? Oh, c'mon, I'm sure he can hit .182 with 12 HR, 30 RBI, and a boat-load of K's over three seasons in the bigs.

Draft Day 2 Thread
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 11:01 AM) No doubt about him wanting to go to college. But - I'd rather have a long shot to sign a stud than easily sign a scrub - remember it's the 19th round. I'm with ya on that. Calculated risk--let's hope it pays off. EDIT: Would Borchard money get it done?

Draft Day 2 Thread
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 10:57 AM) I was saying to dan over AIM, you throw 7 figures at an 18/19 year old kid and s*** can happen. Absolutely, but I can't fault a guy for not wanting to miss out on the college expierence, especially at a place like Austin. That's why when Leinart decided to hang around this season at USC, I applauded him. Believe it or not, not all these future atheltes have money first.

Draft Day 2 Thread
QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 10:52 AM) From BA: Thanks. After looking this guy up, it really appears he wants to be a Longhorn. He said he vows to honor his commitment. So, this seems like a long...long...long shot.

Draft Day 2 Thread
QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 10:46 AM) Danks sent a letter to all 30 teams saying do not draft me, I'm going to college. He has always wanted to play at Texas. So ... I suspect the White Sox will have to throw huge money at him, like, higher than slot money based on his projected spot in the draft. Definitely high 1st round money. Just a guess on my part. I was thinking what position does he play, tool guy, power numbers? That sort of thing.
-
Draft Day 2 Thread
Well, c'mon fellas, tell me about Mr. Danks.
