QUOTE(Spiff @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 08:07 PM) Maxiell fits in perfect in Detroit. I love his toughness. ...and he's had previous expierence playing with a group of thugs in Cincinnati.

Since we are in to arbitrarily posting opposing pitchers' lines. Let's go with...um...I dunno. Cincinnati SP B. Claussen 6.0 IP 4H 2ER 6K

Whenever this ump wants to call his strikes consistantly is fine by me. Big out Dustin, let's get one more. DJ: "That's not far enough to get the man home on third base." :uhoh -

Well, Dustin, let's see what you're made of. -
He played his professional position at the college level and that really boosted his stock in my opinion. He proved he could run the point, hit big shots, hit above average from the field, defend, find the open man. He's going to be great for the Jazz and is a great fit for Sloan. I'm proud of my boy and I can't wait to watch him at the professional level--couldn't have happened to a better guy, I'm so happy for him and his family.

QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 02:33 PM) I don't think it's a remake. Rather, it's a live-action movie. Not sure what generation of Transformers will be used, but hopefully it's the originals: Optimus, Bumblebee, Ironhide, Megatron, Soundwave, Starscream... Starscream is my boy. He's been my favorite since day one--despite being Megatron's whipping boy.

QUOTE(winodj @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 01:59 PM) The Transformers movie should not be remade on the principle that no movie featuring Orson Welles should ever be remade again. Orson Welles as Unicron.

QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 10:18 AM) As a sidenote: I remember Starscream from Transformers saying this in the Transformer movie (which was awful). Bravo!!! Well done ol' sport!!! Bored out of our mind the other day, my friends and I put the Transformer movie in and laughed our collective balls off. Whether it was the Transformers dancing to Werid Al's Devo cover "Dare to be Stupid" or any of the other nonsensical madness, we had an absolute laugh-fest.

"Conquest is made of the ashes of one's enemy." Wow. This has to be one of the most influential, prolific quotes in the history of mankind. This quote perfectly captures the sentiments of all things imperial, progressive, colonial, etc; but, can you name the author of said aforementioned quote? Was it Cesare? Was it Napoleon? Was it Genghis Khan? Was it Adolf Hitler? Was it Benito Mussolini? Take a shot. Who do you think spoke so majestically? We are going to be going on the honor system here, so please, please no internet searches. If ya'll can get it, I'll post the correct answer shortly.

QUOTE(Southside hitmen @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 09:43 AM) Yes Boston doesnt scare me compare to the other playoff contenders... The Redsox pitching is weak besides Matt Clement Have you watched them at all recently? They are really, really locked in and Schilling hasn't even returned yet. They are Trouble with a capital T. Personally, I feel bring on anyone save the Angels and the Red Sox.
-
No. He was with the D'Backs last season, appeared to make one start, and then became a FA this season.
-
Very interesting. Well, let's hope BMac can hold down the fort while El Duque works out his " injury " I've also just heard that although Maggs won't be back for this series, they expect him back next week.

Is this guy out of baseball? Did an injury knock him out for good? http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/stats?statsId=4891

Alright, a lot of you need to get this nasty losing-two-of-three from the Chicago Cubs taste out of your mouth and this is just the series to do that. I'll try my hand at one of these game threads a day in advance. Mark Buehrle 9-1 2.48 v. Nate Robertson 3-5 3.66

To get talent, you have to trade it away; this was one of those rare exceptions where both teams walk away happy. Freddy was always one of my favorite MLB pitchers and despite trading away The Chosen One, I feel awfully good watching Freddy trot out every fifth day--not to mention the absolute steal we were able to re-sign him for. -

If the Jose Contreras that pitched at Wrigley shows up, we could be looking another win in the face. We're going to hit Maddux today, so, if Contreras can keep it to 4 runs or less, we're in good shape.
