Bravo everyone! Bravo! Scottie should send Soxtalk a fruit basket from Detroit because with you guys voting 100+ times, Scott would be at home watching the game. Congrats to Scott and congrats to all the posters that voted and voted and voted and voted...

Nice to see the Sunday/Sweep lineup back in action. Well, I'm looking forward to it just as much as the rest of you, but, the next time Ozzie wonders why he isn't taken seriously on the national forum, he need not look any further than: Perez 1B or Dye 1B

QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 02:21 PM) AddisonSt - as a record label owner, producer and recording artist myself, I would take you to task for your views on music piracy but I don't want to derail this thread. I was born and rasied into the recording industry. My father was a record. exc. for many, many years and I have witnessed the travesties piracy produces firsthand...not to mention the many bands, producers, industry and other recording artists I have developed friendships with over the years. Whether its the artist, the record company/distributor or the fans themselves, piracy harms all. Let's start up a thread in SLAP some day. In the meantime, let's get back on task.

QUOTE(soxfan3530 @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 02:00 PM) alright i did as much as i could before my boss kick me out of work. i got a good 2 hours of voting in though. keep it up boys! lets win this thing for pods! Wow, neat signature. You put Cedric in some very serious company, however; let's hope he can be half as productive during the course of his career as Payton and Sayers.

That was actually a very suprising interview, I really enjoyed it. Here's hoping Scottie is a member of the Chicago White Sox for years to come. As for music piracy, that has been in my signature since my first day here at Soxtalk. It is something I feel strongly against and have taken significant measures to see it is taken seriously in the public forum. I'm not on a soapbox preaching, I have a simple link. Like it or lump it.

If he is half as exciting as Buehrle and Garland on the Dan Patrick show yesterday, we are all in for a serious treat.

Happy B-Day Big Man!

QUOTE(DePloderer @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 10:29 AM) My daughter already did herself a wallpaper of Gwen. I guess I could have a go for you to see if I can improve on hers. I won't be able to get to it for a few days though as I have some other stuff in the pipeline, so if anyone else wants to do it that's ok with me. Well, I have one of your wallpapers up right now, if the Perfection wallpaper is half as good as this Sox logo one, I'll be a happy camper. Congrats on the Olympics by the way.

QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 09:50 AM) Can anyone from Futuresox if he has a 100 mph fastball? I have an oddly good feeling about this guy. I think you're missing a verb, but if you were asking does Jenks hit 100 mph on his fastball, the answer is yes. He has hit 101 a few times this season, but throws a consistant 97-98mph fastball. He's for real.

QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 10:54 PM) The girl needs a pair of tits and a sammich. Sorry, I have a thing for women with talent. C'mon fellas, any takers? Someone care to make my day...er...week?

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 01:10 AM) Hough had a knuckleball but it was not his primary pitch. Wood was a pure knuckleballer. Are you serious? Did you ever watch Charlie pitch a game?

I hope Jenks can excel during his short stint with the big-league club until the break, but I truly believe we are sitting on the closer of the future. With the maturity questions seemingly disappearing, all the proper pieces may be falling into place. Ladies and gentleman, I give you, Mr. Bobby Jenks. Stay Puff has arrived.

Although I haven't voted, I have to admit I think ya'll are onto something. ESPN has been reporting all day Mr. Podsednik is right on Jeter's heels. I really think ya'll are making the difference.

Yes, her s*** is bananas and I've been absolutely entranced with Lady Gwen for about 5 years now. My request--and it's a simple one: Can someone please put the following picture(s) in a wallpaper. I'm thinking putting Gwen picture number one on the left side of the work, the word PERFECTION somewhere across the center with a sort of White Sox-logo-montage on the opposite (or in this case, right) side. Please: A) Use picture number one as the centerpiece of the wallpaper; of all the pics I have, this is my favorite, bar none. B ) In some neat font/style the word PERFECTION across the center seperating the Gwen from the White Sox side C) A sort of White Sox-logo-montage on the right side I will include some other pictures if you are into layering, but I would absolutely love for pic number one to be front and center!!! Believe me fellas, I'll never forget ya if ya can make this one happen!

QUOTE(TheDybber @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 04:28 PM) WRONG!!! Charlie Hough was the last knuckleballer the White Sox had. This schmuck deserves to be fired. That's just poor reporting.

Bucks Seeing Redd Through 2011
AddisonStSox replied to greasywheels121's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Is there really even an option? You have the opportunity to stay with your team for an additional $20M or play with LeBron James...hmmmmm... Find me a player that will leave $20M on the table. -

QUOTE(UofIChiSox @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 10:15 AM) So if Jenks is on the MLB Roster will he still play in the Futures Game? No. -
Excellent baseball chatter today; these are the days I absolutely Soxtalk. We need much, much more of this as of late.

Now, I'm not one for prolific posts, but when grading players at the half-way point--or any point for that matter--it's very important to justify your gradings and explain why you graded the way you did. When grading players, I'm looking for a few things: 1) What has this player done to improve the ballclub 2) What has this player done to improve himself **3)Has this player excelled in his role, no matter what the role may be? So, why, you may ask, do you have a guy like Iguchi or Widger graded with A's while someone like Uribe or Marte grades in the B's and C's? Well, the answer is quite simple, Widger, for example, was signed as a backup catcher who has gone well above and beyond the call of duty to excel in his role and improve both the catching core and the starting pitching...same goes for Pierzynski. Pierzynski grades an A because he may very well be this team's first-half MVP, all things considered. Has Garland's turn-around and Pierzynski's introduction been entirely conincidental? Hmmmmmmmmm...perhaps. Another guy to point out his Tadahito Iguchi. Iguchi, brought over from Japan, has been one of the most fundamentaly sounds players on the roster, in this his ROOKIE YEAR! These are the sorts of things I consider when grading players. Podsednik is WELL deserving of an A because it can be argued the White Sox live and die with his ability to set the table at the top of the order...a similar arguement can be made for any one of the five starting pitchers save the injury-prone Hernandez. Hopefully, this sorts itself out as you view my rankings. Position Players C-Pierzynski A C-Widger A- 1B-Konerko B 1B-Gload NA 2B-Iguchi A 2B-Harris B- SS-Uribe B 3B-Crede C OF-Rowand B OF-Podsednik A OF-Dye B- OF/DH-Everett B+ OF-Perez D+ UTL-Ozuna B- DH-Thomas A Rotation SP-Buehrle A SP-Garcia B SP-Contreras D SP-Hernandez C- SP-Garland A+ Bullpen RP-Politte A+ RP-Vizcaino C- RP-Taktsu C RP-Hermanson A+ LP-Marte C+ LP-Cotts B+

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 08:27 AM) From what I can tell about all this trade talk, the White Sox are going to be giving up minor leaguers. Why, after seeing how every White Sox prospect performs at the major league level when called upon, would any GM want anything to do with White Sox minor leaguers? FURTHERMORE, why do some folks lose sleep at night at the thought of trading away a "Can't Miss" White Sox Prospect. This just in: they don't exist. The closest thing the White Sox organization has to a can't miss prospect just boarded a plane to the SouthSide and he's a 270 pounder. Rest assured, the can't miss guy ain't going anywhere. Folks, the Chicago White Sox are the best team in baseball--nearly 30 games over! This is the year to make the run--open up the floodgates and trade the youngsters. If the Sox make noise in the playoffs no one will be signing up for the McCarthy fan club.

AddisonStSox replied to danman31's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Thoughts: WOA! Well, here he comes, it's Bobby-Time! Although I don't think this was the proper move, I can't wait to see Stay Puff on the Southside. I suppose this week is as good as any for the move as he may get in once or twice during the course of these next two series in a sort of mop-up, righty-specialist move. Remember though: Let's not kid ourselves: the stuff is there. It really, truly is. It's simply a matter of confidence and maturity. Does he have what it takes between the ears to make it on a big-league club yet or should he finish the year in BHAM/Charlotte? Also, I think you guys can kiss Jeff "The Prodigal Son" Bajenaru goodbye. His "career" will not take place on the SouthSide. -

A few reasons as to why Jose Contreras will be pitching for the Chicago White sox through the year 2005. -$8,500,000 Contract -3-5 Record -4.34 ERA -71 K's to 45 BB -Offers nothing to any team in terms of getting younger/cheaper -Offers nothing to any team in terms of getting a proven, consistant veteran -Won't have El Duque to whisper in his ear elsewhere -78 Years old He ain't going anywhere. Sorry.
