Is there a value code for tonight's game? Anything out there to score some cheap(er) tickets? Thanks.

:headshake Why haven't we thought of this earlier...perhaps we have. With Jenks up with the big-league club, he may be auditioning for a vacant RP bullpen spot with a deal involving Vizcaino. Not saying it's a good thing or a bad thing, but Vizcaino may be sent to either Washington or Colorado with some B-Prospect for Day, who would then either slide in the fifth/sixth starter's spot or be used in a deal for an upper-tier SP.

QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 11:35 AM) Day>>>Lilly or Kennedy in overall talent. I agree, just trying to weigh some of the alleged options.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 11:20 AM) Well, they were saying ealrier in the week that a trade might be close. But wit hall these different rumors, it might just be a smokescreen. But, for some strange reason, if the 3-way was to go thru, I just get the feeling that KW would keep Day. I dont't know why. I think things are really up in the air at this point. Having seen McCarthy pitch both in the minors and spring training, I really think Kenny wants to hold onto him. Now, some might say, "duh." If this was anyone else but McCarthy generating such a buzz from within the organization, I think this move would have been done already. It really appears Kenny wants to hold onto Brandon and if it means going out and trading for Day in order to do so, that might be exactly what he's doing. That said, if McCarthy isn't the young arm traded, who's it going to be? Even if it is Day, there's going to have to be someone else and who in their right mind is going to want to take on one of the Cubans? Would these be our options with Day on board? Option #1 Day is acquired via prospects or a Harris/Perez/Vizcaino type and kept with the White Sox organization for a fifth starters' role until the playoffs. Option #2 Day is acquired via prospects or a Harris/Perez/Vizcaino type and dealt with someone like McCarthy for the BIG-NAME SP. Option #3 Day is acquired via prospects or a Harris/Perez/Vizcaino type and dealt with a lesser-known or less-coveted prospect for a middle-of-the-road SP like Lilly, Kennedy, etc.

QUOTE(Cubs Suck23 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 11:03 AM) Living here in SF I know that Brian Sabean try to get Zach Day at the beginnig of the year. So maybe we are close to getting Jason Schmidt.. IIRC, you unearthed some other Sox/SF rumors, so I'm going to take your word on this one. We could be getting close, like it or not, folks.

Bobby Jenks to be on the Score
AddisonStSox replied to Al Lopez Ghost (old)'s topic in Pale Hose Talk
/remembers why never listens to the Score. He gave a nice interview despite two horrible hosts. -
Not that I care too much, but if Buehrle wins this game, he may be looking at the startind nod in Detroit. Let's just get the win; I don't care how.

Bobby Jenks to be on the Score

I'll be tuning in. I want to see what kind of head this kid has on his shoulders once and for all. -
Harris thinks he should play everyday.

Where's this thread at? LOL. Check out some of the archives, there must be 101 threads about this very subject. I still endorse sending Timo down for Gload. A) Gload is a better left-handed bat, no two ways about it. B ) He is this team's current backup 1B C) I still believe that little s*** is valuable off the bench and to spell Iguchi when need be. -
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 10:13 AM) An outfield of Pods/Anderson/Rowand, while defensively very nice, would be the worst offensive OF in the majors. You'd need an IF like the Rangers to support them with even a good pitching staff. Think about it. IF anderson hits more than 12 HR's in a full season next year, I'd be surpirsed. Rowand is on pace for 10 this year, and Pods 0. 22 HRs from your OF!!! :puke Anderson is going to struggle next season. I think he's a good player but I don't think you can count on him to produce at better than league average for a CF, and Rowand an Pods would almost certainly be below average offensively at their respective positions. Um...see here's the thing about that: 2005 Chicago White Sox 57-27 I'm just joshing with ya Cheat. Let's get through this season first before we start worrying about the power production from the 06' lineup.

VERY IMPORTANT INFO: Both players would be available to any prospective ballclub through at least the year 2006. So, say, the White Sox go ahead and trade for Day only to use him with McCarthy or another prospect for Jason Schmidt, the White Sox can decide to exercise Schimdt's option for 2006 and keep what was one of the best pitchers in baseball on the roster. Hmmmmmmmmmm...now I think I'm starting to get bit with the deadline-bug. 2006 Rotation??? Buehrle Garcia Schimdt Garland Hernandez/Contreras
-
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 08:15 AM) Day reminds me of Garland before this season. Yes. QUOTE(quickman @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 08:20 AM) this seems more like a deal you make in the offseason. this is not a deal to get us to the promise land. Agreed. Day is one of those young arms you trade for to work on your rotation/bullpen of the future. That said, does he fit the mold of a first-class pitcher to lead a charge deep into the playoffs? Absolutely not. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 08:39 AM) Zach Day is a decent young arm. Maybe a trade or some time with Don Cooper would be just what he needs. Agreed. QUOTE(3E8 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 09:01 AM) I would absoultely love to have a healthy Zach Day. Ditto. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 09:49 AM) If this happens, who's to say there won't be another move? Here's the quote to keep an eye on. Struggling teams (i.e. Giants, Jays, etc.) and and successful teams (i.e. Marlins) alike would love a young arm like Day in their system. Here's an example of obtaining a guy with the hopes of turning him around with another prospect or two for that "stud" starting pitcher so many of you are calling for.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 09:30 AM) IF Rowand continues to be a pop-gun hitter, he has no value as a RFer. He needs to put up numbers like he did last year to be a decent option at the corner OF position. He's only passable now because he's playing a premium defensive position, and doing so well. Podsednik is the antithesis of a major league left-fielder and the dude's an all-star. I see what you're getting at, but if the Sox can plug Podsednik in LF to succeed (a pretty poor outfielder I might add--awful reads on the ball, relies simply on his speed, and a noodle arm) I think Rowand in RF will do just fine.

Too. Damn. Cool. Perfect. EDIT: By the way, that is perfection isn't it fellas? Gwen-White Sox--wow. God Bless America.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 08:41 AM) It seems KW is concerned with chemistry, based on some of his quotes. That's scary. Personally, I think "chemistry" is a tool invented by the devil to give scores and scores of reporters from around the country something to write about when things are going both good and bad. They are big boys. Just play baseball.
-
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 08:35 AM) This is the kind of s*** that plays on a man's mind. Chemistry is wonderful thing when it's good, but mix a couple ingredients that shouldn't be mixed and it blows up in your face. We can't worry about chemistry issues. That's the wrong attitude to take IMHO. If we start worrying about chemistry issues, we end up with the same roster and take no actions to improve the ballclub by the deadline. Now, I'm not in the clubhouse and don't claim to know anything about the inner-workings of our belov'ed ballclub, but you would have to think we have the type of roster that would not allow the new-comer to mess with the current make-up of the team. In fact, I'll actually quote Dustin Hermanson, "We wouldn't let a new guy mess with the chemistry of the team; we may put him in a corner, but we wouldn't let a new guy mess with the chemistry of the team." You would have to think the likes of Ozzie, Hermanson, Pierzynski, Buehrle and Konerko would not allow it.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 12:27 PM) Ok, lets assume...Marte, Tracey or Gio, and Sweeney for Burnett. Who here pulls the trigger on that deal? I'm basing this off what Rosenthal said the Marlins were interested in (in terms of pieces) as well as the fact that the Sox would refuse to give up Bmac. If thats the case I'd pull the trigger on this deal, however I'd hope the Sox would try to reup with AJ. All that said, even if they didn't I'd still be really tempted to make this trade, especially if they then pulled the trigger on a deal for Wagner or another solid left handed reliever. Marte is good, but Burnett is very good and would give the Sox a filthy rotation. *RAISES BOTH HANDS I'd have made that move yesterday. Seriously, I'd hand Marte a fruit basket by the door on the way out and wish him the best of luck. Now's the time. Now's the time. Now's the time. It's time to stop pussyfooting around the issue, bring the only remaining piece of the puzzle in here, and bear down for a nasty post-season run.

I loathe the NBA, but it would be neat to bring the Proviso East boy back home.

It's a tough one, either: "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'" by Journey or The entire score of the H.M.S. Pinafore

Patterson & Dubois Sent to the Minors

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 09:03 PM) Bruce Levine reported this in between games, but I couldn't find confirmation on the net. Rowand's not exactly having a great season, but he's still far and away better than CPat. Cubs fans are still never gonna admit who's the better player though. Better than Rowand!? HA!!!! Hell, I don't even know if he's better than -
Hmmmmmmmm...so many options...so little time.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 08:57 PM) No I didn't. I said it would not surprise me if she did. She wouldn't though. To nice of a gal. Oh. My mistake.

QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 08:52 PM) Peddle Pushers? I gotta get out more, or at the very least talk to you more Soxy, I don't know what in the heck that means. Actually, it's a good thing. ...we don't want you dating yourself.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 08:49 PM) well the hope is this offseason that Dye plays in some summer league and gets some time at 1B and than he can probably be our starting 1B with Gload as a backup 1B. Perhaps a hope on your part, I just don't want posters to get the notion this idea is being discussed or heavily considered because, from all we know, Dye made one carrer start at 1B, ya know what I'm saying?
