From the sounds of it, Crede won't spend time on the DL; rather, he'll just suffer some streaks of pain lasting up to one week at a time, but then play nearly 100% for another week or so. I don't think the answer can come from within the organization, but if we are just looking for a veteran player to spell Crede while he is having flare-ups, I think Greg Norton should get looked at. He's not having a GREAT year in AAA, but he plays a nice 3B and has put up some nice offensive numbers. Personally, I think you leave Crede be and just look for someone--perhaps from within the organization--to compliment him without crippling the Sox via a trade.

QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 09:42 AM) you really should look into joining orange krush this year, it's a hella good time I've considered it. Once we get back down to school, I'll get in touch with you guys and maybe get the ball rolling.

QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 09:48 AM) Who are you hearing this from? KW? Deep Throat? God? Well, ESPN 1000 mostly, but W. Mark Felt is a close second.

I'm hearing the Burnett deal may revolve around Marte and Everett. That's all I got for now.

I was actually up at night the other day, stirring at how distant a future Illini run at the Final Four may be. I know we just extended Weber through 2011, and I'm very happy about that, but we won't see a talent level similar to that of the 2004 team for years to come. Kinda sad actually. That said, I wouldn't trade this season for anything in the world. It was one hell of a ride and I was damn proud to be a small part of it.

This was such an important win. This is the kind of game I will point to if we make the post-season as setting the tempo for the second half and continuing the winning trend. It's nice when that Contreras decides to show up.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 11:10 PM) Oh so am I. But you need to look at it this way. Brian Anderson is not going to put up Konerko like numbers next season, if he's playing everyday in the outfield, and that's if Dye's moving to first. And there's no real big name first baseman free agents out there besides Konerko, with only the likes of J.T Snow and Erubiel Durazo worth considering. Yes Konerko is slow, strikes out a ton at important moments, and is only hitting around .260, but he gives this Sox team a power element that it sorely needs. And I think they're gonna keep him around. Sorry, D, but: Surevey Says: ERRRRRR!!! WRONG! No chance in hell Anderson comes in his rookie year and hits 35+ HR's.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 10:50 AM) Damn addison, you've wet my appetite for college football to start even more. At least it's a little less than 284 days away... Yeah, I was hoping I wasn't the only one ready for College ball to start. Even our own Illini are going to be a lot of fun to track this year.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 10:47 AM) I'm seeing an addy/steve/kenny football watching experience in the future. Probly not at Steve's place though, lol. At least buy a chair or two.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 10:44 AM) It is the best, Addy. Apartments are awesome, and it's even better when you have a roommate that does nothing but watch sports also. Compromising with the TV just doesn't exist in my world. F'ing ay'. I'm going in with my four best buddies from home and we're psyched out of our minds. We're a block off Green over by Station's. I'm sure we'll have our fair share of get togethers. I'll keep you two posted.

QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 10:40 AM) i absolutely can't wait for that this year. last year i had to deal with halo all day, stupid roomate. My roomate was also quite the videogame nerd, however, I dominated the weekends and whenever the Sox were on. He would have had to seriously throw down if he wanted the TV during those times. That's why I'm so jacked about having a four bedroom apt. this year. Having your own room again is going to be the best. I can't friggin wait.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 10:32 AM) Just a little early, yes. It's cool that you are so into it though, i like it. Do you love college football too? Or just the draft? I cannot wait til this season starts...i absolutely love college football. I've been reading some preview magazines already. Saturday's in the fall are just awesome. I college football. In fact, the main reason I'm so into the NFL draft is because I invest so much time and effort into player development at the collegiate level. You're right, Saturday's in the fall are simply the best. Would you believe me if I told you I have had some dialogue with Coach Zook about helping out in the office and such?

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 10:32 AM) Willie will put up better number at Charlotte than Bo has put up in Memphis this year. Absolutely. I'm thinking players that may compliment this team down the home-strech. If Harris isn't the guy for whatever reason (i.e. attitude, horrible approach at the plate, etc.) would Kenny look to replace him this season or would he let him rot in Charlotte? Cause, let's be honest, Harris' future is not on the SouthSide.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 10:25 AM) There needs to be a help line for you Addy...LOL 1-800-Sad-Sack ...yeah, upon further review, this is kinda early huh?

...oh, what the hell. Do ya'll think a Willie Harris for, say, a guy like Bo Hart--whom would instantly become a fan-favorite--could happen?

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 10:20 AM) Olivo moves on again? Ouuuuuuuuuu...very interesting? Ya think? It would seem the M's are pretty fed up with Miggy, having send him down the minors and all, but I wonder if they would be willing to part with him already. He might be a guy worth waiting for--if for no other reason, defense.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 10:19 AM) Only 1 minute until 11:20 AM on Wedneday July 13, 2005. Well done. I just got done going through about 6 old notebooks and finished reading the entire $80+ collection of Athlon Sports professional and collegiate football previews (it's ok, I get these comped) and started to get the bug again.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 10:17 AM) Wow, I thought they were really high on Terry Tiffee. Im thinking Rob Bowen is the guy, the Mariners have been desperate for a C for a few years now. My thoughts exactly. The Mariners are desperate for a catcher and seem to want to groom a youngster. It makes much, much more sense.
