  1. My baseball source from Minny just told me he thinks either C Rob Bowen or IF Terry Tiffee could be the PTBNL.
  2. I hate this friggin thread, but thought this was rather interesting. Per Rotoworld: A.J. Burnett - S - FLA With The Blue Jays reeling from Roy Halladay's injury, they could be the favorites to land AJ Burnett. The key would be Burnett agreeing to a contract extension with the Blue Jays. Apparently the Marlins covet Toronto's rookie left-hander Gustavo Chacin and Toronto will part with him if it lands them Burnett. ''If [Toronto] could sign Burnett, the deal would get done now,'' the source said. Stay tuned. Jul. 13 - 11:38 am et Couple of interesting things: -Marlins are serious about dealing him -Burnett would consider signing contract extensions -It appears a young arm, the likes of Chacin, could get it done ...all things the White Sox should be paying very close attention to.
  3. I'm not pissed and trust me, Scott isn't pissed either. I think he banked $75G when it was all said and done after his selection.
  4. ...I'm all broken up about it. Really. Say what you will about the guy, but, Timo earned his spot on the roster. Wille and his robust OBP have added nothing to this team in 05'.

    Al's Beef

Johnny's Beef North Ave. Elmwood Park. That's all I've got to say about that.
  6. Hey, gang, unfortunately, I won't be able to particpate in the first installment of the book club, but count me in for episode two. A humble suggestion: Amazon.com Review
  7. The guy played 108 games in Chicago and goes down as one of the most beloved Sox of all time. That's a good place to start.
  8. Egotistical. Elitist. Redundant. ...but, god damn, if I don't love the Hawk-a-roo. Believe me gang, we are blessed to have announcers the caliber of Hawk and DJ. If you have ever had the "pleasure" of listening to some of the announcers from around the league via the Extra Innings package or MLB.tv, some out there are simply laughable.
  9. Thoughts: Abreu: Oh. My. Goodness. Bay: Ouch. Pudge: It's a little obvious pal. You know exactly what I'm talking about.
  10. He is an upgrade. Period. While the move isn't great by any strech of the imagination, it shouldn't hurt the ballclub. However, with his steroids and bat-flipping, he's right up there with Torri in terms of Twins I root heavily against. There's not too many of them, but Boone and Hunter def. get me fired up.
  11. QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 12:19 PM) So, Champ... Why does "Robbin" have 2 "b"s in it in your sig? I believe it's a play on the word, "robbing." As in, base-robbin'. Actually, it's quite clever.
  12. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 11:54 AM) Hope he gets the starting nod, too. Unfortunately, he did not.
  13. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 09:29 AM) To me, ignorance is just lack of knowledge, or uneducated, not neccesarily by choice. Not someone's fault if they don't know something. I guess to me, stupid is being knowlegeable or educated on something and still making wrong decisions or choices. I gather you have the polar opposite understanding of the two terms.

    Legal?

For those of you that drive within Chicago city limits, how many of you have complied with our fair city's newest driving law and have used a cellular headset since Friday? *Raises hand
  15. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 09:15 AM) Ignorance is willful lack of knowledge, that has always bugged me waaaaaaaaaaay more than people who just can't learn. Hence, my one and only pet peeve.
  16. Ignorance. I can tolerate stupidity, but not ignorance.
  17. The one. The only. The Goldy!!! "The champ is here" New wallpaper!
  18. Head up, Jimbo. The reason the Sox are winning (and winning so often I may add ) this season is largely in part to modeling the team after the back-to-back-to-back AL Central Divison champs from up North. Yes, it appears the Sox are heading to the playoffs, but there is a long way to go and any fan that told you otherwise is just downright goofy. The Twins stand just as good a chance as any to make it via the Wild Card. ...just stay the hell away from the AL Central crown.
  19. Guillen was asked for his permission to allow Mark Buehrle to start the All-Star Game by Terry Francona this morning! Congrats Mark!!!
  20. If I just heard correctly, per ESPN Radio 1000: Podsednik LF Iguchi 2B Thomas DH Konerko 1B Everett RF Rowand CF Pierzynski C Uribe SS Ozuna 3B ...Pablo's back in at third.
  21. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 08:40 AM) That's bulls***. I'm sick and tired of people telling me and others that we're just jumping off a bandwagon. Konerko is a piece of trash right now, absolutely useless. It is so f'n clear that he's only swinging for the fences and doing nothing for the team, only padding his homerun stats for his big payday. Plus, he's said a few stupid things to the media when he should've just kept his fat mouth shut. He's getting paid $8.75 million to be the most one-dimensional player in baseball. He's been bringing basically nothing to the table, and he's hurt us more than he's helped us wherever he's batting in the order. Regardless, Herb, he'll be a member of the Chicago White Sox through season's end. For better or worse...
  22. For awhile there, it really looked like "Almost Famous," "I am a golden god!" Although the jokes have to stop now, I'm pulling for Sexton and I hope he is granted the medical redshirt to come back and play in his sixth year. He'll be taking the whole year off. However, if they start Xavier Lee and the whole nation falls in love with him, think a more intelligent, younger, Vick-type, he may have to scratch and claw his way back to the starting spot.
  23. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 09:48 PM) I guess I'm in a small crowd of people that likes Dunn. Konerko has an .803 OPS, compared to Dunn's .932. The K's don't bother me when you walk as much as he does -- .388 OBP last year, .385 this year. He's 25 years old, and posted a 152 OPS+ last season. That's ridiculously awesome. Looks like he's on the way to doing the same this year. Be careful what you wish for...
