I think you guys are finally going to get your collective wish: Timo should be boarding a plane. So long Kevin Freaking Walker and Timo Perez, hello Ross Gload and Frank Thomas. We need the Big Man back in a major way; the offense is in a bad spot.

GAME THREAD 5-27-2005 SOX VS RANGERS
AddisonStSox replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in 2005 Season in Review
I think tonight is going to be a tough one. Hopefully Brandon can do enough to keep our anemic offense in it. -
Finally, a thread with some validity. I never thought I'd find solace in a thread like this.

The upper Deck at the Cell Sucks.

Awful, awful threads lately. Truly. -
You neglected to mention all the wrongs the White Sox organization did to Fisk, my favorite player of all time. You have reported only half, or, half of one half of the story. Things are much deeper than that. Much.

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ May 26, 2005 -> 10:18 AM) Kenny get your arse down there & check him out. The ideal situation is to send BMac back to Charlotte after his start on Fri & bring Thomas up for the homestand vs LAA & CLE. Rumor has it Kenny will be heading down to Charlotte this weekend.

QUOTE(Steff @ May 26, 2005 -> 09:13 AM) I don't think he can if it's a rental car.. unless he drives without telling them. Check the rental agreements (I think you can view one online). I think for those from outside the US you must have an equal to a DL here that allows you to drive alone.. which could mean that if you can't drive alone there.. you can't drive alone here. ...not only that; I'm pretty sure you need to be at least 21 years of age to drive a rental.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ May 25, 2005 -> 09:13 PM) We published an underground end-of-year newspaper that was a parody of the school's normal student paper, except that this one was very racey and gossipy and vulgar and became an instant campus collector's item. We also let a sack full of live chickens loose in the library. That would not be particularly noteworthy except that this was a libraray on the 4th floor of a very old and prestigious Chicago Jesuit high school and the administration wwas not prepared for such a thing. The chickens managed to escape the library and infiltratrate at least two other floors before being aprehended. I was not party to the purchasing of the chickens, but I assume they were destined for a Maxwell street chicken stand before being libberated for a higer purpose. I do not know what became of the chickens after they were subdued by the Jesuits, but I assume they ended up as somebody's dinner in the end. ...that of the Fenwick variety?

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 26, 2005 -> 05:01 AM) Yes I've often suggested that the White Sox minor league affilates need to be based down here for the benefit of.......... ummmm........ ughhhh....... me. The Melbourne Bushwhackers. ...sounds damn good to me.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 26, 2005 -> 09:02 AM) I have actually eaten kangaroo before cooked on the campfire. Tastes a lot like ummmm half lamb half chicken if I could put my finger on it. Just for you Addison, I'll have to send you a copy one day. Shipping and Handeling is on me.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 26, 2005 -> 09:01 AM) Detroit would never trade thier ace to the Sox, for sure. It would take a giant package to land him, if a team was interested they would have to overwelm the Detroit Brass with a deal that could not be rejected. No doubt; hence, the question regarding contract status.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 26, 2005 -> 09:00 AM) Excuse me, I only live 20 minutes away from Melbourne. It's not like I'm living in the outback with a big campfire going every - day. Settle down Outback Jack, I'm sure you're very civilized. ...how else would you know how to prepare a wallaby?
-
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 26, 2005 -> 08:58 AM) lol, doesn't mean he enjoys it. ...at least his has kangaroos.

My favorite player in baseball right now, other than a member of our belov'ed Sox, is Jeremy Bonderman--hands down. My question to you: what is the contract of this 22-year-old ace in the making and has he expressed any interest to play elsewhere? Also, would would it take to net this kid via trade (wheter the White Sox or not)?

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 26, 2005 -> 08:52 AM) I agree, you gotta be a very specific kind of person to live in and enjoy Arizona. If you're city guy, who likes the people and noise and atmosphere and the hustle and bustle, you might not enjoy it. If you liked the desert, rocks, scenery, tranquility and limited nightlife, it's for you. Yeah, it's not like he lives near the king of barren wastelands...the Outback.

Phoenix bored me to hell. However, Sedona is really an amazing place. Look up Sedona, Arizona online and really consider the drive. It's simply amazing.

5/26 @ Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

Contreras has been a joy to watch this season. He looks like a different pitcher out there this year...a man possessed. Go get em' Count. Let's take 3 of 4! Here's hoping Ozuna starts in place of Urbie tonight and Widger gives Pierzynski another , much-needed day off. -
QUOTE(YASNY @ May 26, 2005 -> 08:42 AM) I would expect that phantom injury to occur at the end of August. Then El Duque and BMac would both eligible for the post season roster. Is it August? Bingo. You knew exactly where I was going with that.
-
Lame. Let the kids graduate. Senior pranks now merit a cancelled graduation? What has the world come to?

Awesome news. I completely and utterly agree with Ozzie. Although I'm a little disapointed we brought Brandon up for only two starts, he belongs back down in the minors to pitch ever fifth day for a variety of reasons, none of which I want to get into right now. However, if Hernandez goes down again (and I think he will, probably with a "phantom" injury towards the end of Sept.) we know Brandon can come up with some confidence and get the job done. Excellent news.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 25, 2005 -> 11:29 AM) I think he means Widger behind the plate. It's been a while since AJP had a day off. ...of course that's what I meant. You honestly thought I was endorsing playing Widger at third? You have to be kidding me. AJ needs a day or two off. Dude has spent a ton of time behind the plate lately. EDIT: By the way, as anticipated, both Ozuna and Widger are playing tonight. Widger at third. :headshake :headshake

QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ May 25, 2005 -> 09:55 AM) Big League Clubs want their farm teams as close together as they can get, so they can move players easier. One would think; yet, some have minor league affilities much further away than others. Perhaps that's simply because that's the best location for that team for whatever reason, wheter it be financial or other.
-
Put me in the camp that endorses sending McCarthy back down to stay in that starter's role. This guy needs to pitch ever fifth day. I ain't budging.
-
I think you're looking at both Widger and Ozuna in there for the next two games. However, I've said it before and I'm sticking to it: As Hawk said, Uribe has one of the ugliest swings in the game and we have to be happy with whatever offensive production he gives us because he'll go on tears with the best of em', but he'll also fall into some of the worst slumps in baseball.

5/25 Game Thread @ LA Angels of Anaheim

Spidy senses tingling. I have a feeling the White Sox hitters are going to wake up today and put some runs on the board. We'll need it, cause I don't think Freddy will hold the Halos to one run.
