  1. The 2005 Chicago White Sox: Running Our Collective Mouth from Ozzie to Paulie
  2. Garland v. Santana: A Matchup for the Ages A former Cy Young winner takes on Jon Garland, the suprise 8 game winner... Um, nevermind.
  3. 2 Outs--you don't stop running and you locate your third-base coach. That was absolutely awful baseball by Derek Lee. Since little league, you are taught to keep on running with 2 outs and watch your base coaches. I have absolutely nothing wrong with Uribe doing that and I actually applaude him as he saved us one run. If Lee wasn't faked out of his jock, he would have scored easy.
  4. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ May 23, 2005 -> 10:17 AM) Is anyone else worried about Frank coming up. I just hope this doesn't ruin the team chemistry. I doubt it will but I also hope he doesn't get into a terrible funk and bring this team down. Everyone needs to put this line of thinking to rest. Frank is one of the most prolific OBP guys in the history of the game; in no way, shape, or form should we question his return to the lineup. It's rather easy: Frank starts at DH. Done. It's Frank Freakin Thomas we are talking about. I'm blown away with this questioning.
  5. Golota is a complete clown, whether he lives in my neighborhood or not. When watching him fight, you can't help but get the feeling he is all about the money. I have yet to watch a Golota fight in which he showed any form of heart or perseverence. If I would have gotten up for some snacks, I would have missed the fight. I'm really suprised all the Pols at the UC didn't tear that joint down. As a boxing enthusiast from the city of Chicago, I was really disappointed in him. Put a fork in him.
  6. Just got back from the game, had an absolute ball and made sure to hand out s*** to whomever would listen. I think we're looking at a loss tomorrow, but I'm thrilled to death to win the series at Wrigley. 2 outta 3 ain't bad.
  7. Heading out to the ballpark in a little over an hour. Contreras v. Zambrano, should be an excellent game. Let's go ahead and take the series. ....and yes, I have my Cubs Suck t-shirt on.
  8. Crash here, we'll get into the PBR.
  9. Whether you are for the move or against, Brandon is now a full-fledged member of our belov'ed White Sox. Here's hoping this move pans out and Brandon gets some very valuable experience at the major league level before joining the staff on a permanent basis next season. For those of you that haven't been lucky enough to watch BMac pitch, he's a complete joy to watch. I know we have a lot of out-of-towers, and there are probably many more members better equipped to answer these types of questions, but he's a tall, slim drink of water with magical stuff. Gone are the days of the fifth-starter hole. Although I'm disappointed we brought up our most coveted rookie to occupy this spot (whether for the short term or the long) he is the best man for the job, hands down. I mean, dude almost made the big league club this ST...he's that good. I'll leave the major league comparisons up to Jason or some of the other minor league hounds, but a very accurate comparison of his actual delivery is that of Huston's Roy Oswalt. Although he's much, much taller than Oswalt, he has a very similar, wide open, arms flailing delivery to the plate...let's hope he has similar successes. Here's to you Brandon!!! Go get those scary Cubbies!
  10. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 20, 2005 -> 07:04 PM) Levine said he heard rumors but backed away from them. The guys here verified. Offman with his getting on a plane BS is full of just that, BS. He came up with that AFTER it was posted here that BMac was scratched. Offman NEVER comes up with his own stuff. His "sources" are Levine, other media members and the people with sources on these boards. Ok. Don't break your arm patting yourself on the back fellas. They are paid members of the Chicago media for a reason. I find it extremely hard to believe they would rely on fan message boards as credible sources. C'mon. Banana oil.
  11. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ May 20, 2005 -> 04:53 PM) Yeah it's pretty hard for them not to play Freel when he's out there busting his ass every time they give him a chance, and D'angelo is sleepwalking his way through games As long as Freel doesn't drive himself to the ballpark everyday, I'll root for him. He plays the game right.
  12. Chicagoans, resist the urge. ...you know exactly what I'm talking about.
  13. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ May 20, 2005 -> 06:33 PM) do you know what flight meal he's going to have? Kosher.
  14. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 20, 2005 -> 06:25 PM) On the local Chicago news at 6, nobody had anything on this. It will be interesting to see it mentioned on all of the broadcasts at 10. You guys were their source. Bruce Levine was the first to report the rumor and Offman reported McCarthy boarding a plane. EDIT: Perhaps I should just congratulate Jason as that seems to be the trend.
  15. QUOTE(Nokona @ May 20, 2005 -> 05:45 PM) Could there be an injury to Brandon? Could he have just been a late scratch? Could we be moving Garland up for the Sunday game? Settle down guys. None of the above. What you've read here is what has been rumored by Levine. I also heard it on the MJH show. When we saw Brandon scratched, we put 2 and 2 together. Fingers crossed this is all moot as Hernandez claims himself healthy enough to pitch against the Crybabies.
  16. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ May 20, 2005 -> 05:22 PM) 18 games over .500, Bmac would have made any other big league roster out of spring training, deep breaths, people. :puke Three words. Rookie--Midst--Pennant-Race ...yes, that's right...I've hyphenated pennant-race.
  17. This game becomes increasingly important as it appears we have young Brandon McCarthy making his major league debut Sunday. Here we go again.
  18. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 20, 2005 -> 05:12 PM) If Munoz started, BMac must be in on Sunday. I think its actually a pretty good situation for him. Against the Cubs, not the best offensive team in the world. Opposed by the Messiah. Nobody would ever think he could win. Hopefully, he'll be the BMac of Tucson. Well, this begs the question: Aren't you worried about the gaping fifth starter hole of the past? Lord knows I am. Perhaps I'm just a bit gun shy, but the thought of having a rookie in the fifth starters spot for an extended period of time really knocks us down a peg or two. If Duque decides to fight injuries from this point forward, and we have to deal with an inconstant Garcia and Contreras we're in deep. Not good. Not good at all. ...not to mention the arbitration clock is now a' rollin' on Mr. McCarthy. Be careful what you wish for folks.
  19. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 20, 2005 -> 05:11 PM) Munoz started for Charlotte tonite. f***... Oh f***. :headshake Here comes Brandon and there goes El Duque. This is unbelievable.
  20. WHAT IN THE FLYING F**K IS WRONG WITH HERNANDEZ? Why didn't we hear of any injuries after his last start? Is this a phantom injury because he got bombed? If so, the Sox are really dropping the ball with this one. This ain't good.
  21. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 20, 2005 -> 03:37 PM) C Lee 2001 walk off GS vs. Cubs!! They are showing the whole bottom of the 10th (in progress now!) Thanks for the call. This sends shivers down my spine. Geez, I hate that f'ing team. I hope my Flubs buddies are watching.
  22. QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 20, 2005 -> 03:30 PM) Amen brother! Enough of this trash. He's in AAA where he belongs. He'll have a starting spot in the rotation next year, and that's where it ends. Enough.
  23. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 20, 2005 -> 02:54 PM) I think Contreras is pitching tomorrow actually. You are corrrrect sir. The Count takes on Zambrano. KEEP BRINGING THE s*** JOSE!!! :fthecubs :fthecubs :fthecubs
  24. BO-f***ING-HOO!!!! Masterful performance by Freddy today!!! He pitched his best game of the season bar none. Let's go for a series win tomorrow with El Duque on the mound!
