  1. I still can't get over Chacin's "double-set." If I was back there, I'd have a real difficult time of not hitting him up with a balk, especially in the early innings.
  2. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 8, 2005 -> 12:23 PM) 50/50. Bad feed, but I still think Uribe could have made a play. Or, he should have just ate the ball if there wasn't a play. And Addy, the reason I like Baj is because he's striking out almost 11 guys per nine. He's a little older, but he's doing something right down there to be striking out over a hitter per inning. But you've seen him live, I haven't -- so that makes a huge difference. Keith, do you know if Kenny plans on making him a member of the Sox pen in the future? Granted, I wouldn't touch our pen right now, but does he have a future with the Sox or should he be moved for something the Sox could use?
  3. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 8, 2005 -> 12:23 PM) He doesn't have a 12-6. Well that's very descriptive. Righttttttttttttttttttttttt.
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ May 8, 2005 -> 12:21 PM) Has Pedro Lopez ever played 2nd base before? He was more responsible for that Uribe throwing error than anyone else. This goes back to my original compaint. Kenny is really high on him, but he's a long way away from ML material. He looked awfully shotty in ST and kicked his fair share of balls. That low feed is a good example of why he isn't ready yet.
  5. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 8, 2005 -> 12:21 PM) Not a 12-6. As I stated. It's not quantum physics. Do you want me to lie to you?
  6. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 8, 2005 -> 12:18 PM) Well no s***, but if you love his stuff so much what does he throw? Does he throw a 12-6? No. Does he have a fastball with some movement and some decent off-speed pitches? Yes. He tends to be erratic at times, but I think he really has a shot to be a closer, in the mold of a Percival or a young Billy Wagner.
  7. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 8, 2005 -> 12:17 PM) What does he throw? GAS
  8. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 8, 2005 -> 12:14 PM) I forgot about Reynoso and Jenks -- those two are doing some good things at Birmingham, by the looks of it. If Jenks can get his act together, and by act, I mean personal life, he could be a dazzler in the bigs. I LOVE his stuff. Actually, he's my favorite minor leaguer.
  9. QUOTE(JimH @ May 8, 2005 -> 12:11 PM) Like just about everyone else I was very impressed with McCarthy in person. He looks like the real deal, I was most impressed with his mound composure. And actually I like Sweeney better than Brian A. and even Fields. Sweeney needs to fill out a bit and get some experience but I'm convinced he is also the real deal. Josh Fields ... he has talent and he is better at 3B than I thought. He clearly needs more experience but I think he has a very good chance to be a long term above average major league 3B. Brian Anderson ... he is hitting well at AAA, great sign. He can run and he's solid defensively. The one thing that concerns me is his pitch selection, he can be worked over by a decent pitcher. He is striking out too much right now and I'm hoping he comes on even stronger in the 2nd half. If they need an OF though, Brian will likely be the guy they call up. I believe all 4 will play in the majors, and stick around for a while. I also like Paulino Reynoso, I saw why they put him on the 40 man. Thanks a ton, sorry for the slight hi-jacking. I really like to see what you had to say about Sweeny. He has a BEAUTIFUL swing, but hearing that you are convinced he is big-league material is really something to be excited about. That's what I was looking for, thanks again.
  10. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 8, 2005 -> 12:10 PM) I know you didn't ask me, but two guys to keep your eye on -- Josh Fields the 2nd, and Jeff Baj. I'd say they rank one and two as far as our relief core down there. I'm not high on Baj at all. I know the folks around here love him, but I don't think he has the stuff for a long stay in the ML. In all honesty, I wouldn't mind trading him for something of value while some teams may be scrambling around for pen help. As for Fields, he looked awfully filthy during the brief appearences I've seen, might be something there.
  11. QUOTE(Reddy @ May 8, 2005 -> 12:05 PM) how bout Dye's .248 obp? that kind of thing wont last all season. Miles is a good player and will/has been doing well for colorado ^^^
  12. QUOTE(JimH @ May 8, 2005 -> 12:03 PM) DJ pumping up the Sox minor leaguers. For the most part, I agree with him. There is some certain talent down there. What do you think Jim, from what you've seen in person, which of the Sox big-name minor leaguers will contribute consistantly to a big-league club? From the looks of it, McCarthy, Anderson, Fields, and Sweeny (to a lesser degree) really seem primed for ML careers.
  13. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ May 8, 2005 -> 11:58 AM) the sox must have finally bought an alarm clock. What's incredible is we have been able to win (and win quite often) during those slumps. That amazes me. That's the kind of stuff that needs to happen if you want to win the division. As for Kenny's aqusition of Uribe, I think both parties walked away happy. The Rockies have their starting two-bagger in Miles and we aquiried the shortstop of the future. I think Kenny may have gotten the better of the deal, but the Rockies didn't get fleeced.
  14. Aaron is waking up. Dye is waking up. Konerko is waking up. Watch out.
  15. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 8, 2005 -> 11:53 AM) Why didn't he move to get a better angle? And isn't it a dead give away when the fielder is still trying to tag him all the way till hes on the base? If there was a better angle he would have taken it. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, as I probably would have made the same call. You're struggling for position, you see Joe Crede stealing a base, the ball beats him, you call him out. It happens. In other news, Buehrle is a champ. Two great innings.
  16. I've blown a call or two. It happens. Now a patched umpire of a couple years, I have all the respect in the world for the profession. It's a lot harder than it seems fellas. b****ing about calls is a thing of the past, I have far too much mutual respect to ride the umps anymore.i
  17. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 8, 2005 -> 11:42 AM) :fyou umps As a patched IHSA official, I resent that.
  18. QUOTE(JimH @ May 8, 2005 -> 11:34 AM) Wow did Dye smoke that one. Sox need to keep it going, I liked Rowand's at bat too, not getting greedy and poking a single to RF. Jim, how could you not love the current makeup of this ballclub? Not only are we winning, but we are winning correctly. (Yes, there is such a thing)
  19. UH-OH GET UP BYE BYE!!!!! Welcome back to the show Jermaine!!!!
  20. Um...does anyone else see Chacin balking each and every pitch?
  21. Pedro gets another chance, giving Iguchi a much needed day off. I like it.
  22. Whether you think you may need it or not, go down to AAA and shake the rust off, Frank.
  23. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 8, 2005 -> 09:49 AM) They just did a badass piece about how fast Buehrle works on SC. They had some interviews with Sox players about how it's easier to play D behind him. I liked Ozzie's quote a lot and I think it was right on the money: "If Mark pitched on the other side of town he'd get all the respect in the world." ...or something to that end.
