  1. QUOTE(BlackBetsy @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 07:26 PM) I wasn't pleased at all. The Sox continue to leave men in scoring position, only have 3 home runs in 6 games - all from Jim Thome - and look generally lost at the plate. They blew two opportunities today with men on third and less than two outs. This team needs to play better fast. I take no solace out of beating the Royals one out of three. I would have expected to have read something quite different from you. Although there are grounds for concern, the season has yet to enter its second week. Until today, both the Tigers and Brewers were undefeated.
  2. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 05:30 PM) I'm surprised no one mentioned this, but while he gave up a HR and Crede had to make a couple great plays, Jenks was throwing gas. Was clocked as high as 100. It just looks like he's got a bit to go with his breaking ball. He's looking better though. The velocity was there. And that's a start. Take it for what it's worth, but, Hawk said Jenks was consistently hitting triple-digits in the pen the past couple of days.
  3. If you're above the age of ten, you should not be making this thread. I bet you bring your glove to the ballpark too, don't you?
  4. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 02:31 PM) I like that alot. We might need that after everywin. Who is that poster? There's no way he's a new cat.
  5. I love seeing Thome walk off the field after a White Sox winner. Hats off to Buehrle and Joe, today.
  6. What an excellent play by Joe Crede! Defense wins championships. He's one of the best in the business.
  7. They talked, got the call right. WHAT A PLAY, JOE!!!! Don't take anything anyway from Joe!
  8. As it stands, we have no one to bridge the gap from the starter to the closer. No one. Hell, I'm not even that confident in Jenks closing out ballgames. The idea is that if our starting pitching can't get it done, you have Thome and company to put some runs up on the board. So far, nothing doing. Yikes.
  9. Vazquez will stop the bleeding. He's the guy that may make or break this starting rotation. If Contreras, Garland, or, most likely, Garcia, can't put together the season we have come to expect here in our title defense, Vazquez becomes the guy that is going to have to step up and pitch like he is capable of pitching. Luckily, I think it's a change of scenery and this guy may compete for a Cy Young be season's end. It starts today. You have to beat the teams that you are supposed to beat. That's what we did in 2005 and that's what has to happen right now. In my opinion, that is what seperated 2005 from years past. You have to beat the teams you are supposed to beat and you have to win two out of three. Let's get back on track here.
  10. For cripe's sake. :headshake http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=48401 Enough already.
  11. QUOTE(BuckyBacker @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 06:27 PM) Just as an FYI, Bucky is no longer with the White Sox. Last week he had signed with the Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League so he could remain a free agent during the season. Yesterday, he signed with St. Louis. I still haven't heard from Bucky or his agent as to the exact ins and outs of leaving the White Sox, but I'll post them as soon as I do. Just a guess: his road to the majors is completely blocked with the White Sox. Doesn't seem that difficult.
  12. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 04:19 PM) I hadn't heard that before Addy. Is Baines planning on leaving the org or just coaching in general? I've heard coaching. Ozzie has always said the beauty of this coaching staff is that the majority of them do not need the money, they are doing it out of a passion for the game. The baseball season is pretty treacherous and I think Harold just wants to ride off into the sunset.
  13. Just so we're all on the same page: Harold Baines is the 2006 first base coach because he will no longer be coaching with the White Sox after the 06' campaign. I've heard that in his last year of coaching, he's requested to be the first base coach, and, seeing as Ozzie is not only his ex-teammate but also a close friend, he talked it over with Raines and the three came to this agreement together. I don't know if Raines has managerial aspirations, but, he, too, is benefiting in this arrangement by serving as Ozzie's bench coach and learning some more of the in's and out's of the games. I am very understanding of these moves. I support it fully.
  14. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 03:03 PM) CBS had a great picture of it, but I won't be on my computer for a couple of hours. I'll upload it when I get back, if someone else doesn't before then. That would be perfect, Z. It's appreciated. Load all the good ones you find.
  15. Two things: -K, that has to be the single coolest signature going on ST right now. -If anyone...ANYONE...can please find a picture of Thome's curtain call it would so greatly appreciated. You all have no idea how excited I am to have Big Jim in black pinstripes.
  16. That got real interesting with 3 to go. When Gordon got loose in that turn, that sealed it for Stewart. I'll take a second place finish.
  17. QUOTE(Goldmember @ Apr 2, 2006 -> 03:46 PM) jr. refusing to lay down and die... just imagine how good he'd be today without the front end and half the back end missing... Junior's car just looks sick. I can't believe he's battling the way he is. I'm pulling for Jeffy to get a good run here on the re-start and overtake Stewart. I need a win in the worst way.
  18. 8 Laps, Green Flag!! This is excellent! ...oh my goodness...caution again...Kenseth.
  19. I'll go ahead and go with what he heard. He was talking to some pretty important cats.
  20. Well, as many of you know, tonight is Wrestlemania. Although I am not a wrestling fan in any way, shape, or form, through work, my father has been working with the people at WWE for the past month or so in preparation for tonight's event. Last night, at some work function with a lot of the WWE brass, he learned a pretty interesting fact. Apparently, the wrestlers of the pay-per-view events are not told the outcome of their match until minutes before the actual event. Only a select few know the outcome of the matches and the results are no released to anyone within the organization except the winner of the match, moments before they walk through the tunnel. In fact, the losers of the match are not even told, only the winners. So, they rehearse the match all week long like it is going to be preformed, but, only the winner knows the outcome and it isn't revealed to the loser until he is forced to take the three count. Kind of interesting. I know there are a lot of wrestling fans out there...enjoy tonight.
