Apparently, I won today's email contest on ESPN Radio 1000's Silvy and Carmen. I don't know if anyone was listening--I had to tune out before it may have been mentioned--but, the question was what four players would merit a spot on Chicago Sports' "Mount Adequate"--a play on Mount Rushmore, except, without the accomplishment. I'll c'n'p my email for s***s and giggles: Did anyone hear it? Anyways, the reason I mention it in Pale Hose is because the prize for winning the contest: The Chicago White Sox: 2005 World Series Collector's Edition DVD Just figured I'd share with my Soxtalk brethren.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 02:35 AM) Bradley with good news on the recruting front. They already have a good class coming in next year in 6-5 wing Andrew Warren of Indianapolis and 6-10 (6-11 in shoes) 3 star big man Xavier Crawford of Richfield, Minnesota (Patrick O'Bryant part 2?). Earlier this week Bradley received it's first class of 2007 verbal in 3 star PG 6'0 Sammy Maniscalco of Chicago St. Patrick's. He picked Bradley over strong Horizon League interest as well as interest from DePaul. Xavier Crawford (2006): http://illinois.rivals.com/viewprospect.as...=2&pr_key=29510 Sammy Maniscalco (2007): http://illinois.rivals.com/viewprospect.as...=2&pr_key=50542 Les is an awesome recruiter as you can see by the striking talent on his team, and he continues to rake in the talent. I know he's a Bradley graduate, but I wonder how much longer it is until a big school throws a truckload of money at him. Jim Les, give it up for the former Don Of Notre Dame High School. Two things: I just read on Yahoo that O.J. Mayo and one other prospect are thinking about following Huggins wherever he goes, which, as of late last night, will be Kansas St. Also, what's up with Derrick Rose? I'm just really, really hoping he decides to play with Gordon at Illinois. Has he decided on somewhere? Are talks off with the Illini? Thanks.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 22, 2006 -> 09:11 PM) That's kind of a long time, even for a beginner, but it will get easier. I hate to ask a stupid question, but are they in properly? I'm assuming you have soft lenses, so they curve both ways. Look for the natural curvature of the lense and put them in that way. If you do the opposite, you can still get them in, but they'll feel awful. I'm not explaining it well, sorry. No, it's fine; I appreciate the effort. I think it's just so foreign to me, I wouldn't even know what the proper fitting should feel like. This morning, I was able to get them in a little easier, but, once again, one of my eyes feels perfect--I can even't notice it--and the other eye feels like I have a tear drop in it, that just isn't going away. Also, last night when I took them off, my eyes felt awfully dry.

QUOTE(SnB @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 06:23 AM) so........unless I'm completely wrong on this, they used old sound clips for his voice last night, right? ...and you were admitted into the same school as I? These degrees aren't going to be worth the paper they're printed on. It wasn't their best effort, but, I'll maintain those two guys are so far ahead of their time. South Park, to any educated fan, is a socio-political commentary in the extreme, using a bunch of dick and fart jokes and naive fourth graders to say it like it is. They really are geniuses. Like I said, in regards to last night's epidose, it wasn't their best effort, but, they provided the hilarity with Chef's dubbed tracks and were able to make their point using the parallels between the Super Adventure Club and Scientology, so, I'll give them props on such short notice and I can't wait for the rest of the season.

Soxtalk and YASNY featured in Sports Illustrated
AddisonStSox replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in 2006 Season in Review
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 22, 2006 -> 04:22 PM) The thing is... Even though Soxtalk may be the first place the rumor was seen in print of any kind, it was being circulated through newsrooms and such at the same time. Sparto51, was just one of the first to hear the rumor. Dan Patrick was on the air at the same time as that was posted, and at the beginning of his show he mentioned that there would be some big news on the horizon in the next few days. He was cryptic, but he heard the same rumor before it was posted here. It's not like the media ran with a rumor that was originating from here. It was originating from someplace genuine, it just gained the most recognition here. That sounds pretty spot-on to me. I doubt any reputable journalist would take posts from an internet message board as fact or the base for nation-wide rumor, but, I, personally have found an uncanny resemblence between Soxtalk conjecture and Chicago White Sox beat reporters when it comes to personnel moves. I mean, uncanny. -

Although the ink has yet to dry on the Brian Griese deal, the Chicago Bears took a step in the right direction, locking up the veteran quarterback. The importance of the Brian Griese signing is twofold. First, in Griese, the Chicago Bears have a quarterback who can put some pressure on starting quarterback Rex Grossman in camp and force Grossman to step up or step out. Throughout his career—albeit short—Grossman has not been challenged in camp. Griese is a guy that will consistently make his throws, will minimize mental mistakes, and has been there Sunday after Sunday. The Griese signing is also important in the Chicago Bears’ off-season plans because it now allows Jerry Angelo and company to fill the team’s remaining holes via the draft, first and foremost, and an added luxury of additional talent via free agency. Until yesterday, quarterback was a problem on this roster and it required some attention through either the draft or free agency. With Griese now a member of the Chicago Bears, I have pin-pointed four areas this team can address through the 2006 draft, Click For More

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 22, 2006 -> 09:49 AM) Us resigning Crede is most likely a pipe dream. Unless, of course, Fields is moved across the diamond. It's not completely out of the relam of possibilty. If not, he's a good candidate for a future deadline move.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 22, 2006 -> 09:20 AM) They feel blurry, or things LOOK blurry? If things look blurry, that's not good. Give it a about a week and maybe go back. Having moist eyes is a good thing, it keeps the contacts comfortable. When your eyes go dry, they'll feel like sandpaper. I just had a 15 minute battle with my contact lenses today. This was the first time I really had to get them in myself. Not cool. I'm hoping this gets a lot easier. I have my follow-up on Saturday and I'm hoping things work out by then; if not, I'm out.

Also, this DVD will be in stores next Tuesday, March the 28th. Someone near and dear to my heart wanted me to tell all the good folks at Soxtalk that it will be going for $54 at Best Buy.

Garland looked spent. EDIT: I love bonnets. -
So, I just got contacts today and it feels like I constantly have tears in my eyes. Is that normal? It almost feels blurry.

Believe it or not, I do find some solace in this being a guy Cooper himself has fingered as someone he'd want on his staff. Cooper has proven himself--for the reasons given above--and if he really thinks he can fix this guy, he merits that opportunity. You can't teach a 95+MPH fastball, but, you can teach location. Hell, from everything I've heard, this Boone Logan kid couldn't hit the broad side of a barn before someone fixed his mechanics--albeit an unconventional fixing--and that kid is practically a lock to come up North. Let's see what Cooper can do with this Thornton guy before we throw him under the bus.

QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 08:45 PM) How do you say Ozzie Ball in Japanese? QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 08:49 PM) How do you say Japanese baseball in Ozzie? A fun exchange in the WBC Championship thread. If I had to guess, it'd be something like, "Japani beisbol." -
QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 08:38 PM) Okay... "...the majority of the NFL Off-Season/Draft talk will be moving over to TalkBears.com..." Does that mean that we won't be able to post Bears news here? That the actual threads will be moved to the new site? What? Sorry about the confusion JH, but, SS bascially nailed it. In no way, shape, or form are we going to restrict Bears or general football chatter here, but, we're hoping that if we can move the majority of the football talk over the TB, it can be a better, more enjoyable experience for everyone. But, for the record, the Soxtalk Mock Draft Contest will be over at TB along with the official Sweetheart List. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 08:48 PM) We aren't going to stop conversation from happening here, but the aim is to build TB as THE Bears site. All of the emphasis, info, and work will be there and not here. We are planning on holding the main football based content and contests over there eventually, as we try to build it as a standalone football site. But like I said, we won't STOP you guys from talking about football here, there will just be a whole lot less people talking about it here, as the main culprits for Bears gossip, will be posting that stuff over there.
