They still have the most dominant pitcher in the game, and we hit him the way the Lovely Ladies hit against the American Dreams, not much

I picked Giles but expected many to pick Konerko. Hideki shouldn't have surprised many. Bay shouldn't have too much, unless you come from a certain state that isn't Pennsylvania..... s***. I don't know how to link the map (I've seen it here before though). Anyways while the poll is still up go to http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/index

That and Tony needs to go over the force/tag rules when he's covering a base Anyways, yes it is depressing for the Marlins fans. I kind of wonder why so many people here still believe that the Marlins will want Marte. Maybe to close? I just don't buy it. They obviously don't have a lot of interest in being competitive for 06 so trading for Marte just doesn't seem to make sense unless they have him close which could be a nightmare on Arthur Rhodes-levels. I feel bad for Beinfest though. He's a good gm who is just handcuffed right now

Reason #1 why not to watch the NBA
Punch and Judy Garland replied to The Bones's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
There is some good NBA to watch. Not all of it though. The Suns, Spurs, Pistons, Pacers, Mavs, and a few others are great teams to watch. Figure if you saw Tampa-Royals or Titans-Jets you;d think the other leagues suck. WHile the NBA does seem to have the most fishy officiating, baseball surely isn't immune from it either -
If I'm the Giants and I just lost out on Esteban Loiaza, I'm not sure I trade Schmitty. That being said, with Bonds adn Alou likely gone after 06, Abreu gives them a star to build around (alebit one who is older than you'd think)

I haven't heard much on those pitchers. They have so many good youn gpitchers its sick and these were certainly not at the top of their list (Baker and Liriano I believe would be). Great trade for the Twins. Great defender, solid hitter. I think he'll run better this year if his hip is all the way back. Doesn't strike out at all, walks a ton. Great move by them. I think Morneau is going to bounce back big and I think Mauer will get some MVP talk this year if the Twins contend for first. That said-what was said about them needing another bopper is totally correct. This was a better move than trading for Alfonso Soriano though

Report: Yankees sign Farnsworth?
Punch and Judy Garland replied to redandwhite's topic in The Diamond Club
Apparently thsi isn't over. THe Rangers are back in it. THey should just let him go -
Alias (although I'm done with it now), 24, Curb, Sopranos, Entourage, Lost, 90210. I generally watch dvd's of shows and I don't watch them live. I do enjoy Comedy Central's block with the Showbiz show-dialy show-colbert on Thursdays

Flash gordon signs with phillies
Punch and Judy Garland replied to bkmoney's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 10:47 PM) yeah, i know the ages are way off, but if a team is looking to win the next 1-2 years, I would rather have Flash than Farnsworth, and they're roughly the same deals positively. -
There's no relief for 'El Duque'
Punch and Judy Garland replied to greasywheels121's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Mac does not belong in the pen (he could only be used as a long-middle man with our quality at the end) and it would be a crime to start him in AAA. Uribe as a 2-hitter is a joke. His value lies in batting 9th, and he is valuable there. Not 2nd though. That is a spot that requires consistency -
Flash gordon signs with phillies

The dollars per year aren't awful given that he will close. BUT-3 years for Flash Gordon? Ishii -
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 10:27 PM) Hunter makes $10.75 mill in '06, and has a $2 mill buyout or $12 mill option for '07. So you are pretty much right on the money. I was due!
-
Who Bourn or Golson? Not sure how much they plan on counting on those guys at this point. I thought Hunter is a FA after next year but what the F do I know?
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 08:00 PM) More so than with Damon/Ramirez? Damon is a better outfielder with his feet than Pods because of his jumps but neither scare you if you are tagging from third

Now I'm mad
Punch and Judy Garland replied to Punch and Judy Garland's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Didn't apologize to Harrington. That is partly where the TO comparison came in. The fact that he apologized-but not to the guy he offended which mean sits an empty apology -
QUOTE(toasty @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 02:37 PM) if Billy Beane wanted to spend a bit o' cash, he could package Barry Zito up with some others and send him to boston ? well its not his money, its steve schotts I believe so there is a better chance of the Devil Rays trading for him
-
Frank was also brought up (although it made no sense) in those Lee, Ordonez, Frank to the Dodgers rumors before the 04 season began. Of the three, surely Frank was the least likely to go since it was an NL team but he was brought up in trade rumors before the year

QUOTE(AirScott @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 01:45 PM) besides in college? no. Nope he hasn't. His td-int was rpetty good last year but he has not had a good year. That said, he has been a model citizen and a decent teammate and didn't deserve to be ripped apart from Bly-both in the lockerroom four weeks ago and then again int he media this week. It was just as bush league when Owens did it, or when Garland called out Konerko in the lockerroom(just to relate it to the Sox). -
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 02:12 PM) And who's going to be in CF for the Phillies then? Bubba f***in' Crosby? Rowand will be a Phillie next year, period. No way Philadelphia moves a player they traded Jim Thome and a ton of cash for. I say to look out for Torii Hunter. Dunno why. and you would be likely correct. Unless they lock themselves into a Pierre or Damon-they will be gunning for Hunter soon enough. Even if they get Abreu, they could let Sheff walk after this year and move ABreu back to right and get HUnter next year

Report: Pads Re-Sign Giles
Punch and Judy Garland replied to SoxFanForever's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 11:45 AM) Historians believe its German for a Whale's Vagina, but the phrase is so old that nobody's really sure anymore. So, for those of us who have been kinda in a baseball blackout since the "Really Good Thing" happened a month ago, who was courting Giles? Cleveland, although few believe they were really in it. The Cubs certainly had some stake in it, although I think they chickened out on the dollars. The Jays were obviously the high bidders. The Cardinals had an interest but were told that Giles would give no discount to play for the Cardinals. The Yankees were interested but they have about 500 circuses going at once. I think the Red Sox would have gotten involved if the Manny saga had been figured out before Giles signed anywhere. THose were some of the players anyways -
he just signed last night with San Diego

QUOTE(Drew @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 12:59 AM) I thought it was up to the player which hat he wears on his plaque. I thought I remembered Carlton Fisk deciding on Boston after being on the fence about it. Yeah but they took that right away after soem goofy choices. I can't recall who it was that was the straw that broke the back but I know there was fear that Wade Boggs would try to go in as a Devil Ray. It was near that time that they took the chocie away. Kind of dumb to me. As long as a player played there, it should be his choice in my opinion

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 12:40 AM) IIRC, when Frank signed his one year deal prior to 2003 with 3 mutual options attached, KW was in the Dominican Republic at the time, and that it was a Reinsdorf-Tellum-Thomas negotiation. did not know that. interesting stuff

well if Jermaine Dye in the left side of the infield happened, anything is possible!
