What else will the DRays try to get from them? Obviously they won't do Marte-Lugo straight up or it would have been a three-way trade. What will the add-on be? Minor league arm? Are they holding out for Kelly Shoppach? Hmm

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 11:37 AM) Explain to me how he is overrated? Good hitter, Great fielder. His critics don't like his road splits but the truth is that he's young and headstrong right now but his talent is still amazing and he will be an Eric Chavez-type player for a long time
-
Perhaps we could chip in for his airfare on a one way ticket to Cairo, GA where we'll never hear from him again. Nevermind, it will be hard to collect money with people emptying their wallets for the highly successful Deport Timo Pledge drive

Rockies, Mesa agree to one-year contract
Punch and Judy Garland replied to Pierzynski 12's topic in The Diamond Club
What if this is one of those times like when Shawn Estes went there wher eit seems too perfect and you think there will be a 8.97 era but they inexplicably hover around 4 or so. I can't wait until Mesa gets picked in my fantasy league -
Rockies, Mesa agree to one-year contract
Punch and Judy Garland replied to Pierzynski 12's topic in The Diamond Club
Mesa isn't even as good as Brian Fuentes. Yuck. THis makes a little sense if you can move Fuentes and get an elite prospect in return but I'm not sure what the odds of that are -
Pedroia is probably their 2B of the future. With Theo gone its hard to say exactly how stats-oriented they will be but there is a decent chance he plays third this year or gets dealt. I can think of a team in California that might be interested.....

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 11:14 AM) I hope they do deplete their farm for a way overrated player. I htink Blalock is a very good player and is at a great buy-low time. In fact, I'd love it if we looked into him-although we only have one minor leaguer they want and we won't be trading him

THe problem with Sportsfest in June and Sun-Times in March is that they are hard shows to get active baseball palyers for because of the Spring Training and the regular season. Hopefully, the sox will be at home when sportsfest is going on. November is the easiest one for the players to get to unless you are Freddy Garcia........still bitter......

How bout this guy instead of Timo Perez?
Punch and Judy Garland replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't know of a single person on this board that believes in his heart that Timo won't be back. We're not happy about it (most of us) but he probably will be with the team again-but that doesn't mean the jokes stop! -
Lowe, Drew, and a prospect for Manny? Sounds like Boston is trying to take a mulligan on THeo's 04 offseason between this and the Cabrera deal. Hey, think Pedro Martinez is available while they are at it?
-
The Braves couldn't start Marte because Chipper can stay healthier at third than in LF so this is a move they had to make I guess. I guess they could have moved him to third but they were able to get a good SS out of it. Anyone else think Renteria will be much better next year in Atlanta?

AJ was on Jonny B show this morning
Punch and Judy Garland replied to retro1983hat's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 09:02 AM) blasphemy. Dont ever compare a extraordinarily bad episode of Happy Days to the White Sox Championship reign. Besides, the White Sox havent done "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" yet, so there is still hope. Haha. Thats true, lets stay off Bravo -
AJ was on Jonny B show this morning
Punch and Judy Garland replied to retro1983hat's topic in Pale Hose Talk
So with AJ being on a pro wrestling show, tonight is the night where our post-championship reign jumps the shark -
At leat getting him would end those 4-4 and 5 for 5 games against us!

Punch and Judy Garland replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Davanon is good and so is Palmeiro. Timo...eh...not so much -
Ray is a good guy, but like Steve Klins he b****ed and he was actually there second best lefty as Flores becamse pretty solid. The Cards had two holes in their corner OF spots so Bigbie will likely fill one of them while Miles is in the mix at second although I have to think they will try for someone else as well
-
I think the Rangers don't want to do Mench for Batista. Surely, someone wil want Batista once the market for pitching gets more scarce. I think the Nats can use mediocre pitchers in their park and do fine. I'm sure the Rnagers asked for Patterson but were rebuffed

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 10:51 PM) neither of them is nearly as valuable as Abreu. Lowe never knows if he wants to be good or bad, and Penny is always injured and getting older. Isn't everyone getting older!
-
Yeah Wes Obermuller for Jose Cappellan (in the end) seems like a good overall deal for the Brew Crew
-
I like the deal for the Nats really. Sori won't go to center so I'm not sure what they do with Vidro. THey need a bat and got a good one. Not sure if I like this for the Rangers-I don't think it will greatly help or hurt them. If they choose to have the lineup go Delucci-Young-Wilkerson you get three fantastic on-base guys before you see teixera and blalock
-
Will the Brewers use Fielder at first and then use Shea at third? I agree, nice move by the Jays
-
QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 05:51 PM) How many years? 2 w. an option
-
Isn't WIckman the last real option? Jones and Hoffman are out so there can't be too many more
-
Indians expected to land closer Hoffman
Punch and Judy Garland replied to Pierzynski 12's topic in The Diamond Club
Probably helps his HOF chances by staying in one city basically. -
Red Sox to swap Mirabelli for Loretta
Punch and Judy Garland replied to SSH2005's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yeah I don't know why they are rumored to deal Otsuka at all if Hoffman goes. THey want Lienbrink to go the 7-8-9?
