Perhaps they'll offer a reacharound
Punch and Judy Garland replied to Punch and Judy Garland's topic in Pale Hose Talk
You can have Jenks sign your replica jersey and shake his hand for $25 plus your jersey at Sun-Times. The jersey is a much better deal than the balls they are hawking -
Ewwww. 17? Thats Manny Money. I wonder if the Sox will offer the defferred money special here.

QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Oct 28, 2005 -> 01:35 PM) Obvious things to do (Starters): Re-sign Paulie Extend Frank for 2 more years so he retires a White Sox after his 500 HRs Extend Jon Garland to a 4 year deal Wait on Carl Everett Not so obvious things to do (Bench moves): Let Timo Perez walk, and let Brian Anderson take his place as bench OF Let Willie Harris walk and replace him with a contact hitter (Jose Vizcaino type?) What else to improve bench/bullpen? Not bad suggestions. I don't beleive they will offer Jon mroe than three years because they don't really do that. I suggested and Anderson/Frank combo at DH where Frank is the main guy depending on health. That said, I realize that having Anderson sit on the bench may stunt his growth a bit. I don't necessarily know how I feel abotu Willie and Timo walking. Willie might get a chance to play much more somewhere else. I don't like Timo but I feel overly nostalgic right now which is why I hope as many players come back as possible.

QUOTE(DABearSoX @ Oct 28, 2005 -> 01:32 PM) OH in no way do I believe this means anything.....I know its up to the money....i was just pointing out that that was a great point in the ralley.....I have been one of the biggest Paulie supporters on this board through everything.....and just hope we can get the deal done...... my bad, thanks for the clarification. I thought it was a great moment too

QUOTE(DABearSoX @ Oct 28, 2005 -> 01:25 PM) My favorite point, not only giving the ball to Jerry, but PKs comment along the lines of "We'll go back and get it next year" Kenny looks at him and seems to say "So your saying you'll resign" then the crowd started chanting RESIGN PAUL If you think that means anything one month from now then you are naive in my opinion. Paulie would love to come back here but only if it makes dollars and sense
-
I would use Frank and Anderson to play DH. I think Frank can get back to health, but Anderson is a wonderful insurance policy there. A DH is the easiest thing to trade for midseason because you can add any good bat to that spot and not mess with your defense.
-
People around the game say he treats his employees extremely well. I think that this week signals the end of the bitterness over the departure of Phil, MJ, etc. I think that JR will cement his legacy even more if he brings guys back, meaning Paulie and ensuring that KW and Ozzie are around

Plus, I figure that the last thing the players want to do right now is sign autographs so Schwartz had to offer them the moon to sign. -

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Oct 28, 2005 -> 01:12 PM) Those prices for a Buehrle ball are real high. You can still get one from mounted memories at a lot cheaper price and it's an official ball and with a Mounted memories COA. Of course I already have 3 MLB balls signed by Mark, so I would never buy one. I just don't see the sense in buying an autograph unless its a guy that is just that tough of a sign. If its relatively cheap I don't mind. I have less of a problem paying if I meet them, hence why I'm getting Freddy. Its not a bad price at all and he doesn't sign too much. I don't like to buy without meeting the player for the most part. Being a Denver Bronco fan, I don't have the luxury I do with my Sox. -
I'm glad the crowd didn't boo Jerry. Today wasn't the day for that. Reinsdorf looked like a man who saw his dream come true and I'm happy for him
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 28, 2005 -> 01:10 PM) Sean May told the UNC crowd that he was definitely coming back after they won it last season. Exactly. Its done for applause and they probably mean it at the time but its kind of a caught in the moment thing

Well I think there are going to be changes for sure. THis year even, there weren't as many free bank signings and appearances (of course the stars are paid to be there but the fan doesn't pay). I remember getting Marky, Lee, Maggs, etc. at these types of things. I think that each player will now realize that they can cash in quite a bit and the prices are goingh up. They won't hold at this level, which is crazy. I know some will buy these because they want instant gratification or to buy one now because they feel tushed to do so with Christmas coming up. I hope that the guys don't change their ST signing habits. -
I remain skeptical about things said at parades. I recall Carmelo Anthony hinting he'd return to school after they want the Natl Championship. Don't put too much into something said at such an emotional and euphoric time. We'll have to pretty much offer a match to keep him but I think JR will probably do it. I don't think there will be a discount though

QUOTE(sircaffey @ Oct 28, 2005 -> 12:08 PM) Do they sell immitation rings? If so, anyone know where you can get them? I know years ago Balfour would make them. That was int he mid 90's though

We didn't trade away a big leaguer so I guess the only real tough call is Shingo. Personally, I think he should get one because he was here for awhile.

Rumor: AL Playoff OF tests positive for steroids
Punch and Judy Garland replied to DonkeyKongerko's topic in The Diamond Club
Finley has been known as a workout warrior and he was also injured all year. Banged up shoulder since Opening Day. I think too that he just got old quickly. He's not big anyways. His workouts are very innovative (spinal based conditioning and flexibility over heavy weight training). and I think they led to him finding the fountain of youth at 40 -

Why would Will Carroll be involved with the appeals process? that was a bit lost on me -
QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 28, 2005 -> 12:28 AM) Personally, I think Bobby V is talking out his ass about talent level, but I could be wrong. This ain't gonna happen. The logistics are too difficult to overcome in a short period of time. They might be able to set something up for '06 if the so choose. I think it would take away from the World Series a bit to have them face Japan right after. I think the players would have zero interest in doing it. I think plyaing from February until nearly November means they want and deserve a break. I hate the idea of 18 MORE innings on Buehrle's arm too.

QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 11:48 PM) After having more time to think about this, I have to change my tone. If it is a Sox player, it would really tarnish the Sox World Series win for a lot of people. The national media is going to go apes*** if a Sox player was allowed to participate during the entire playoffs if they had already tested positive. You are correct that it would stain a win. That said, this is beyond premature. If its not a Sox player, and there is no real reason to think it is, then we are wasting part of the honeymoon worrying. -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 08:25 PM) If it's one of our guys it's Aaron. Maybe it's just me hoping but I don't think it's any of our guys. Well the odds are in our favor not just in that its 1 in 4 without looking at the players, but you figure that there is a better than average chance that this rumor will not pan out because it seems more often than not that rumors are false. I wouldn't spend a whole heck of a lot of time thinking or worrying about this now. -
Is there anything that I have to do to get the game 7 ticket money refunded on the CC? Will it just get done by ticketmaster? Thanks for the knowledge in advance.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 07:38 PM) That's the Owner/CEO, right? That guy rocked! At the end of the game, as the celebrating was going on, he had a smile from ear to ear! The guy had just seen a wonderful example of Baseball all around, and you could see he appreciated it. Then when he congratulated JR, you could see the sincerity. Then yeah, the Astro's themselves. After the game, applauding their fans, and even congratulating our guys, what a wonderful team they have down there. I might have a new favorite in the NL. Though, next year, can we please, please, PLEASE be spared the Brandon Backe mic??? Its rare that you can really say that we had no animosity towards their fans during such a competitive time. I don't like clemens but the rest of the guys are fairly likeable and I could live with them gettign back to the Series for sure. At 15-30 and the whole media talking about Clemens back to Boston or NY, it shows that this team was mentally tough. Great year for them.
