  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 07:38 PM) The thing is, THEY WEREN'T USING STEROIDS DURING THE PLAYOFFS! Yeah but that doesn't really mean much. Its not any better that they weren't using right then. Plus, you don't know that whoever the outfielder is wasn't using during the playoffs. Thats just an assumption-probably right though.
  2. Mr Griffey can help us defend our title as far as I'm concerned. I think that our payroll can go up a bit because of the killing they will make on merchandising and I'm sure the attendance will go up a lot from the exposure.
  3. I don't think speculating helps much. I would bet against Matsui more than anyone, probably Manny too. Do I only bet against Matsui because he's Japanese? Hmmm. Manny seems too fat to use steroids, but James Toney was fat and used juice so whoi knows. I think this is bad news no matter who it is.
  4. Its cliche but the last track has to be We are the champions. I kinda always thought the song was annoying until now because its got meaning to me
  5. Yeah I thought alot of my first game last night. Eric King pitching to a 7-6 win. Booby Thigpen with the save at the old park. Ivan Calderon, Carlos Martinez, and of course-Ozzie. Amazing time to be alive
  6. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 02:32 PM) The article doesn't exactly define "probation." There are numerous levels of punishments that could be levied, ranging from cutting scholarships to postseason bans (not that that would affect the Illini this year ). My guess is they'll probably just loose a couple of scholarships next year, but you wouldn't know from this article. Cancel those plans you had to go to a BCS bowl game!
  7. Wondering how long before the Wheaties box comes out that I'm sure all of us are going to buy and not eat!
  8. when I was double-fisitng champagne bottles and we are the champions by Queen was playing, I've never felt so good. Words do not do it justice
  9. QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 10:26 AM) im glad it ended so now I can get my life back together, but I hate the what now feeling I have, I dont know what to do with myself. I hate that feeling too. Wait, is your feeling 8 beers and three bottles of champagne?
  10. I heart Freddy Garcia in a non-Swoopes loving sort of way
  11. that is nice that the money is going to a good place
  12. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 02:54 PM) Think tennis. ahh yes
  13. how much were UC tickets going for? West Side of Chicago for a celebration? Ouch
  14. sounds about right. Just wasn't sure if they'd try for 33 minute pregame without the whole intros thing
  15. we got a first pitch time yet? 7:28 or is it sooner tonight?
  16. 16 oz. Buds and Miller Lites for $1.75, at least until the postgame where I hope to mix it up and then call a cab home!
  17. At a bar in Carb. They usually leave the sound on pretty loud for big games. I hope I get to ask for champagne at about 11. Could be a special night tonight. You know what sucks? You gottta gigure that there are a few Sox fans that go tickets to Houston. Maybe Game 5 was the game they picked and they flew out to Houston to hang out for a few days waiting for the inevitable Game 5. What if there is no game 5?
  18. QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 02:58 PM) I have autograps of all the guys so if anyone wants me to compare something I'd be happy to help as well. I hope people don't hesitate to ask you. I hate the idea of soxtalk members being taken.
  19. I want to caution some of you guys who don't usually buy memorabilia but want to now since wer are where we are. I am seeing a LOT of fakes on ebay today. A lot of shady stuff, a lot of Wrold Series signed balls and I don't think they are legit. Feel free to ask me or some others on here for opinions for certain ones. The expensive Steiner certified World Series Balls are definitely real though
  20. He MIGHT have done the Taste of Chicago signing with Uribe. My memory is hazy
  21. QUOTE(OilCan @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 12:21 PM) ....so ESPN.Com bumps the Sox to a small box, while the biggest news is Swoops "Coming Out" Party??? probably biggest sports star to come out that I can think of unless I'm missing someone pretty obvious
  22. weekend of November 20th. I strongly advise an advance phone order for autograph tickets for the SOx guys. website is sportsnewsshows.com with all the info
  23. Jenks, Podsednik, and Garcia are all signing at the upcoming Sun-Times show. First shot to get a signed World Series ball. Prices are 25, 39, 39 respectively. I just watned to throw this out because in light of what you guys might fork over for soxfest tickets on the 2nd-ary market-it would be wise to order your tickets soon. I'm going for Freddy. PRetty excited about meeting him, I think this is his first public signing in Chicago outside of Soxfest last year (was he there?)
  24. Oh I see. I didn't know that the nickname was directly tied to that. Makes sense now
  25. We don't need the pen tonigt. Want to find out who the Scrubs fans are tonight? There will be a lot of people at the UC or at the bar you are at who will say something stupid like now that the Red Sox and White Sox have won, its the Cubs turn!
