Punch and Judy Garland replied to wilmot825's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Actually, Manny at Wrigley is scary for how he'd hit. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 05:30 PM) So was Marte. So was Iguchi for that matter. What was Gload complaining about? I didn't hear about that one. Correct on the other two. I feel Marte will likely be gone but Iguchi will of course stay -
And your AL Playoff, Steroid using Outfielder is..
Punch and Judy Garland replied to Steve9347's topic in The Diamond Club
While I disrespect the actions greatly, his admission does actually help him. I think the last thing we wanted to hear was the same old "don't know why" excuse we are conditioned to hear. He might not be good enough of a player to overcome this like Giambi, but he probably helped his cause with his response afterwards. -

Don't forget that Gload was b****ing in September. We learned with Jon Rauch that things can be swept away for while but not forgotten. Bench players griping is however as common as the game is old. Might not be a big deal -
Rumor: AL Playoff OF tests positive for steroids
Punch and Judy Garland replied to DonkeyKongerko's topic in The Diamond Club
You have to wonder about the market for Lawton. He can hit. He walks a ton so saber-teams might have interest. That said, he can't field and he'd be a bit of a PR nightmare for a team signing him-not to mention he'd miss the first two weeks. I'm sure somebody like the Giants will sign him but I'd swallow hard if I were a fan of the team who signed him. -

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 04:19 PM) Why would there be a dropoff in production from Gload to Anderson. Did I miss something? Was Anderson the one who put up the 115 OPS+ in 2004, in a decent-to-good amount of ABs? Well I don't think there would be but people worry about that because he's a rook. -

QUOTE(Felix @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 04:16 PM) I believe it already was used, but I'm not 100% sure. I 2x checked via this little site called google and it is! Awesome to chose Marky. I will have to hoard a few boxes and try to get Mark to sign one sometime. Probably my favorite choice if you are going to use just one player -

I'd rather have Anderson than Gload. If there is a dropoff in production from Gload to Anderson-and that is not a complete given-then its probably worth it for Andersons long term development. Plus, you can fill a DH spot later if you want to via trade -
You have to admire the kid a bit for goign to school. His family already has money because of John's deal so they had the luxury of doing what was best for Jordan. I hope we get anotehr shot at him later.

I'll give an injury prone player a deal if he has heart. Griffey and Frank Thomas have heart and care a lot. JD Drew doesn;t give a damn. Thats a big difference -

Cubs re-signed Glendon Rusch to a 2 year deal
Punch and Judy Garland replied to Pierzynski 12's topic in The Diamond Club
Whats more interesting is how he should have been in the rotation all year last year yet they jobbed him out in the pen where he is ineffective. Surprised he came back given that as a lefty starter you figure he'd be in a bit of demand. He must love the city -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 04:02 PM) Can I just say how relieved it makes me to actually know it was Lawton? This thread scared the s*** out of me last week. wasn't it fathom too or someone else? Glad you guys can breathe easier now -

I know, he really hit the four corners of hatred didn't he? I guess because he's a Yank its significant. Given the hoopla over Juan Rincon, I guess it is significant. I wanted Lawton because I though we needed some lefty thunder, a guy who walked, and another bat. Looks like another good non-move. -
Our tax dollars at work! I doubt anybody important spends any amount of time on this but its still a nice little gesture that you would NEVER have considered before we won it. 400 pound cheescakes and resolutions, rings and trophies get the pub but this is where its at

You have to figure that the price for Howard is Brandon McCarthy. I don't feel great about that deal but its possibly not a bad move. There would still be El Dque insurance issues then. One last thing, while Howard's rep was that he was a stiff at first in the minors, people were pleasantly surprised with his D at first over the end of the summer -
"Stand Pat" Gillick new Philly GM
Punch and Judy Garland replied to YASNY's topic in The Diamond Club
If he trades Thome does he lose the stand pat? -
I hope this story doesn't get a lot of play. Thi isn't MJ and his golf (although its silly to worry about either of their bank accounts). People are in a dump on Alex mood so I think this will get too much attention

Will Bush Invite the Team to the White House?

QUOTE(SHAFTR @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 02:34 AM) I wonder where the political affiliation of the White Sox roster would be? Left, Slight Left, Moderate, Slight Right or Right. Is apathetic an option? I don't get the idea that our guys are very political. Besides Hawk anyways -

Official NFL General Discussion Thread
Punch and Judy Garland replied to Balta1701's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Denver CAN win in Indy. They did it with the Q Griffin game at the end of 03 where they had the ball for about 41 minutes. I think they are constructed to be more competitive against them now as the Indy passing game has taken a step backwards. Whether they beat Indy or not, they are as good as anybody in the AFC and could go to2toe with Pittsburgh. The Giants are probably the team I am now pickign to win the NFC because they just have so many weapons on offense. Their D is obviously not the team that played Washington OR the D that gave up 45 to SD. Denver ran for about 190 on them so there are certainly defensive concerns. If they can hold teams to 20 or so points, they are in every game. I just don't know that they are a team built to win in January right now. -
Is it still a given that Danks goes to school?

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 08:16 PM) wow, i can't believe that statistic. how the hell is that possible? Who votes on this? I thought players have something to do with it

I would have understanded if Rowand had lost to Ichiro, Kotsay and Wells. Maybe even Vlad although I didn't watch his D as much this year besides the playoffs. But Hunter? This is the same BS that led to Raffy Palmeiro winning the GG at first after a total of 23 or so games. Just ridiculous. Jeter again? Wow......

I'd be curious as to the last team from the three major sports DIDN"T go to the House.
