QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 04:41 PM) Does anyone know if I can watch mlb.tv via my PS3? I would imagine so. PS3 handles those types of popups regularyly as well.

QUOTE (The Beast @ Apr 4, 2009 -> 08:59 PM) I think the only reason I've felt rather irrational lately is the fact that I'm still at EIU. Now that the semester is coming to a close, I'm going to be working this summer at a decent job where I'll have a lot of time to think. Today I was thinking about why I was thinking of going into teaching and it wasn't so much that I wanted to teach English, but I wanted students to be aware of the choices they make and why they think the way they do. I was inspired to write and teach from my high school teacher in radio and journalism. However, I didn't really care about reading for literature symbols. The reason I'm thinking of business is because I think that I could do well in a business orientated environment. I get things done both well and on time. Ideally, if I got a communication degree, I would take writing and business courses to showcase what I can do for a company. This is why I'm thinking of being a business major over the communication major. I've also thought about being a high school counselor or a life coach of some nature. Who knows what I'll do? I'm just glad I'll be in a more academically orientated environment. As for business calculus, that sounds good. I'm not a math major or even that good at math but I can do some algebra and equations. I think you would succeed at business calculus, even if it's at EIU. I stunk at Calc and I was able to pass prettty easily. The best thing you could do is find a group of people in class that you talk to or that you could see talking to(basically people you think you would hang out with on a regular basis, even though you don't have to do this) and helping each other out. It's much easier in class when there's someone on the side of you in which you could ask a question and stuff. I guess it makes you feel like you're not in this alone. Other classes that you struggle in would be better if you did the same in those classes. You may develop a friendship or two. Just make sure you don't get people who are lazy or who always ditch class. By always, I mean 75%.

If you go to channelsurfing.net, they have some free shows up there. For all the entourage fans, watch-entourage.tv I believe is the website to watch every single episode possible. For movies or shows, ovguide.com lets you search every database to find the show or movie you want to watch.

I'm shocked! -
Well I will say, for Business Administration at UIC, it's business calculus that you take. It's a whole lot easier than Calculus. Heck, it's a lot easier than Pre-Calc as well. Once you get through that, you're golden, especially if you could do Statistics.

2016 Olympics Discussion

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 10:11 AM) Actually, this is something interesting I've observed that only Americans seem to do and think is normal. In every other country (in my experience), the rich/middle class live in the city and the poor live in the sub-urban areas. I guess Americans never stopped and wondered why...oh, that's right, maybe because it's much easier on the work/life balance to LIVE NEAR YOUR f***ING JOB than it is to drive all day and be stuck in traffic which undoubtedly increases your stress level. And why do we do it? More house for the money! Yes, enjoy that more house for the money you're never at because you're in a traffic jam driving home. I don't agree with your thoughts on potential Olympics, but you took the words out of my mouth. I would never move to the burbs unless I had to. -
QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 05:32 PM) Fair enough, I agree with most of what you say here. I think Jamar Williams would do a decent job replacing Briggs though. I would rather have Briggs or Jamar move to the inside to replace Brian if I were a Bears fan.
-
QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 05:15 PM) I don't really know what you're basing this on unless you think nobody else is going to be available and/or they don't have the resources (they have plenty of cap room). The "Angelo never makes moves" thing, which was never true to begin with, kinda got blown out of the water yesterday. I'm not going off of that. In fact, I haven't really gone with that theory too much after Angelo was hired. Heck, he went out and got Mushin out of nowhere. I did not they would get Cutler though just in terms of packages. The reason I say I don't think they'll get anyone outside of the draft is because, the draft is loaded with WR's. Iglesias would look mighty nice next to Cutler. Heck, the WR from UNC(not Nicks, the other starter who injured his knee) would look great too. The thing is, I don't think those are guys who are instant impact guys. Also, from the guys that are available, Boldin wants to go to a contender which the Bears seem to be if they got him. Problem with him, is I don't think the Bears want to give up everything else they have after getting Cutler. What else could they give up? Briggs is too valuable and the Cardinals secondary is much better than the Bears. I guess we could give up Urlacher and our 3rd, I just don't know if Angelo would do that because it opens up a hole at MLB with one less pick to address that. I don't see Angelo taking a risk on Plaxico for all the reasons he wouldn't with TO. He doesn't want a distraction. I don't see them getting Holt as it seems he isn't interested in the Bears. Marvin wouldn't make much of an impact.
-
FWIW, I don't believe the Bears will sign anyone who's an improvement this year. It's draft or bust for this team. I also think people are expecting too much of Earl Bennett because of Cutler.
-
I think people aren't realizing how far Lovie actually is from the hot seat. Him and Jerry have a good relationship and Jerry puts a lot of the blame on himself last year. They probably have one of the best GM/Coach relationships in the league. You won't see Lovie fired next year unless they finish with less than 5 wins. If not, he's not going to be fired for at least 2 years.

Official 2008-2009 NBA Thread

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 09:20 AM) Well we'll see about the offense, but I am not going to argue with what you said about Rose on defense (although 10 times worse is hyperbolic). The only response I have to it is that I think you are right that a lot of his problem is he is lazy on the defensive end, which is fixable. He's one of the few guys on the team I think could be a good defender if he cared, hopefully the Bulls can find a coach who he respects enough to try on defense for. Nah, it really is 10 times worse. Gordon's problem was that he had terrible footwork, was not strong enough to compensate for his height, and basically sucked because of technique. He got disciplined by Skiles and improved learning from Kirk. It's been a vast vast improvement. He uses his whole body and that's why, even though there are taller SG's he does match up with, not many back him down. Rose's problem is that he tends to get lazy. I know for a fact his high school coach would go nuts about this, but it's just his personality. He also had a high tendency to coast on the offensive end. Tons of times where he would bring the ball up, dump the ball to a guard, and stick in a corner he does now. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 09:53 AM) If that is the case with Rose, f*** him. The guy is making millions of dollars as a #1 pick. If it takes a coach kissing his ass to make him play defense, screw him. I don't think a coach kissing his butt will do anything. Coach Calipari was his biggest supporter that wasn't a family member and always tried to kiss his butt, but eventually he saw that he couldn't change him. He stated as well that Derrick has a tendency to lose interest and focus during the game. Like he'll have a guy he could easily blow past everytime, but instead of driving, he'll just jab step around the perimeter. Or he'll have a team packing the lane, and instead of kicking it out, he won't recognize what the other team is doing, and continue to drive. For defense, I haven't met a coach who has yet stated Derrick can't dominate on defense, but it's very very hard to get him interested enough to play. VDN was sending him a message benching him twice in the 4th because he thought it was time to start expecting effort since it was the second half of the season. Paxson basically undermined him on this and asked for DR to be in there no matter what. -
I'd say factoring everything, both teams got what they wanted and needed, therefore both win. The Bears finally get stability at the QB position and someone who they know could make all the throws they need to make. Broncos got a nice amount of picks to make a quick improvement on defense overnight. Now a lot depends on how those teams work around what they just acquired. If the Bears still have crap WR's, it's going to hurt Cutler more than help. If JM sucks balls at identifying guys, it'll set their team far far back.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 08:06 PM) To call out Derrick Rose specifically for his defense isn't fair simply because NOBODY on this team guards consistently. Rose has been very poor on defense obviously, but he's not alone at all. If VDN installs a more complex offense next year, that would help though. My main issue with him is that the offense is very bland, the out of timeout plays aren't great, and they don't try on defense. To me, if all of those things are going on and the coach has never coached before at any level, that screams to me that he's overwhelmed. Just my opinion though. I say Rose because you don't understand how terrible he is. He is ten times worse than Gordon was coming out. That's not an exaggeration and a lot of that has to do with him getting lazy on the defensive end. This was a problem in college and in high school. He coasts on the offensive end at times, but does it alot more on defense where at times, he just stands up and doesn't even get into the bent position. He wanted to run his full offense this year, but guys weren't getting it and eventually Paxson advised him and the assistants to strip it completely down. -

Apparently, Henry has an out in his LOI stating that if Calipari were to leave, he would be able to leave the school without any problems. I've heard this from different sources. The thing is though, does Kentucky even have enough scholarships with Meeks and Patterson both staying? -
Depending on how fast your internet is, I would probably go for Premium. Depends on your tv and internet connection again though.

I see that it would be somewhat believable. You should've said he got injured in warm-ups today and after the MRI, showed he had contusions or something. Then say Owens was recalled from the minors plus a pargraph that looks like rotoworld. Then a hyperlink at least. I give you a D for effort, because that's where this failed.

They should have a Kenny Powers night.

If he's healthy, I'm down. I don't even care about stealing bases. He's perfect for what Ozzie and KW state they want in a leadoff hitter. Sees a lot of pitches, gets on base first, and uses his speed second. I know he's no Grady Sizemore and his defense will need help, but at the same time, I think Wise and Owens when he is called up will provide nothing. -
2016 Olympics Discussion

If it increases jobs, increases tourist dollars and development, I'm all for two weeks of "hell". Honestly, the best example is the Atlanta games. That city was nothing like it is today. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 02:22 PM) A terrible changeup? That thing was unhittable when he had it working. Nope, all he had was that curve. They were trying to develop a change and add movement to his fastball and I believe even add a cut fastball. The changeup rarely worked and it really wasn't that effective for the most part. As far as learning the other stuff, the Sox just got sick of him.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 01:40 PM) None of this could be further from the truth since those locations have absolutely no bearing on the others by proximity or otherwise, they don't consider that kind of thing, they never have. Russia having it has nothing to do with Madrid, nothing at all. Same goes for Beijing and Tokyo. Of the four remaining, Chicago has the third lowest ranking by the international committee, as Tokyo and Madrid are both over 1.0 evaluation points higher. Read more here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_Summer_Olympics Please use a different source. Wikipedia should never be used to make a point. I could just go to that page, type in that Chicago is the frontrunner, and then post it somewhere else. -
Damn, I thought I was the only one who expects Owens to now make an appearance on this team by the end of June. I kind of had a feeling we didn't see the last of him. They should've just let him go completely.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 31, 2009 -> 05:57 PM) With good reason, he had excellent stuff. I wonder if he'd have been able to stay healthier with a different training/coaching staff. He had one excellent pitch. He had an average fastball and a terrible changeup that they were trying to develop.
-
If he's healthy, I could see the Sox looking at him.
