Why was MB wearing a Cards cap?
there are two points here 1) you can certainly show up and watch the game and root for the cardinals without being so conspicuous as to wear the hat 2) when there has already been this controversy in the past and you have already made strange comments about your love of the Cardinals its just stupid judgment.

Free Agent Pitchers Next year
You guys are crazy. Kerry Wood is much better than Zambrano.

Reinsdorf speaks
QUOTE(WCSox @ Dec 8, 2006 -> 03:02 PM) Buehrle's previous comments about wanting to play for the Cards were very unprofessional. That said, JR's comments about him wearing a Cards had to a Cards WS game (nothing wrong with that, IMO) are childish and serve no purpose but to throw gasoline on the fire. If JR and KW don't want to commit the 5/70 it'll likely take to re-sign Mark, fine. But there's no need to go public with that information. It serves no function but to drive MB's trade value down. exactly right.

Garcia to Philly for Gavin Floyd and Gio Gonzalez
QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 11:49 PM) Have any of you actually seen Gavin pitch? People need to stop acting like they know everything. Almost all of us hated when Freddy pitched last year. He couldn't throw 90 mph, he had a lazy attitude, he got in trouble for smoking the reefer, and he made $10 million. KW knows more than you. All of you. Thats bulls***. If I was the GM I know I could have gotten Pelfrey, Heilman and Milledge for Garcia.

QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 11:25 PM) Lingering injuries for a pitcher is completely different than the injuries Rocco had. Rocco is also a world-class athlete who will develop power as he gets older. thank you. thank you.

Im telling you, Rocco Baldelli is coming. He has to be. He just has to be.

Garcia to Philly for Gavin Floyd and Gio Gonzalez
I have to think that a trade is on the horizon. The Phils would have been willing to trade Rowand instead of Gio, and Im presuming the only reason Kenny would say no is if he had another deal fro a CFer on the horizon. Rocco please.

Garcia to Philly for Gavin Floyd and Gio Gonzalez
there has to be another deal on the horizon. i cant believe that we are willing to just concede a starter and then say that we can compete in the 2nd best division in baseball this year.

Winter Meetings Thread
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 07:41 PM) Mark Buehrle (yeah, he's older and therefore more expensive, but he also has a much better history of health). Buehrle has a much greater value than Young. But that doesn't mean that one of our favorite pitchers, i.e. Danks, couldn't be attached by Texas to sweeten the deal. And there better be something else attached if Buehrles were to go. Young would also to my eyes be an absolutely ideal #2 hitter, and while his defense at SS isn't anything to write home about, I believe he also does have the ability to play 2nd base, and the White Sox have a 2nd baseman who just happens to be a Free Agent at the end of 2007. If we're stuck with Podsednik at the top of the order, Podsednik/Young > Podsednik/Iguchi. We are overvaluing our own players. Im pretty sure that Texas fans would laugh at the notion of Danks and Young for rent-a-Buerhle.

Steve Phillips....c'mon now
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 04:32 PM) That's some great logic. its not good logic, but even if Bonds was charged, it would be at least a year before the trial began. no chance it affects his playing status for next year (that doesnt mean i support the signing, im just saying)

2006 White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 04:04 PM) Willy Taveras may be one of the few players in baseball who is worse than Podsednik offensively. He's a 4th OFer who has name recognition because of a big 2005 postseason, specifically the World Series. Yuck. F'ing pass in a second. The Sox have their own Taveras in the form of Jerry Owens. no way, Jerry Owens is way cooler than Tavares because he used to play football.

Winter Meetings Thread
QUOTE(ChiSox9 @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 04:13 PM) Just to break it up a little... how come normal everyday work life can't be like the winter meetings and free agency? I am going to take a break for 2 months and people could start bidding on me to work for them. Everyone could spread office rumors about me and who i might go to work for and how much i might get from my other employer. See that would be friggin sweet! I'll offer 51.1 million dollars to your current employer for the rights to negotiate a 50,000 dollar a year contract with you.

Sox wanted Lackey, not Santana
Wow, while that move clearly favors the Sox, the Angels really need some more offense. I would love to see this happen.

Rocco Baldelli piques Sox' interest
QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 11:25 AM) listed at 200 lbs there, Chief. Have you ever seen him play? have you ever seen/heard the Dane Cook Burger King skit where the cashier calls him Chief?

Rocco Baldelli piques Sox' interest
QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 11:25 AM) listed at 200 lbs there, Chief. Have you ever seen him play? if that man is 200 pounds, then Sandy Alomar is a good backup catcher. He is built like BMAC, only hes not 6'7"

Rocco Baldelli piques Sox' interest
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 11:11 AM) So his injuries are ligament and tendon injuries? That isn't good. Not to accuse anyone of anything, but aren't those typical steroid injuries? Baldelli weighs about 150 pounds and probably can't bench press 200 pounds. If he is a roider, he's doing a pretty bad job. Additionally, steroid injuries typically affect highly utilized muscle (hamstring), as opposed to the ACL, but Gagne might throw that theory down the trash.

Rocco Baldelli piques Sox' interest
Tampa has to move him or Crawford. They need a spot for Upton and Dukes will need a spot in mid-May. I don't understand how this team is run. You have twice the talent of any organization when it comes to young outfielders, you have NO pitching, and yet the Rays act stubborn and dont seem to be actively shopping him.

Steve Phillips....c'mon now
I just feel like Steve Phillips doesnt think these things out. While Bonds is worth so much in ratings, all personality and roids issues aside, we need speed, and Bonds is the slowest man in baseball. I cant fathom a lineup with him, Dye, Konerko, Thome, Crede and AJ. It would take 4 singles to get anyone home.
-
Steve Phillips....c'mon now
Phillips predicts that the Sox will make a run at Bonds for LF. He indicated that there is some connection between Bonds' agent and the Sox front office. First time I've heard this, and it sounded like a lot of speculation to me.

Rumor:Garcia to Philles for Arow + Madson/Floyd
Im not sure that Floyd or Madson will do so well here. But perhaps they are a plus option for the long relief role next year with a chance to develop. Either way, I still think that once Zito signs Kenny will receive better offers.

White Sox still "enamored with A-Rod"
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 02:49 PM) According to ESPN 1000 Alex Rodriguez was not discussed last night during the Cashman/Williams talks. It was strickly Sox SP for Yankees RP being talked about. I'd imagine names like Farnsworth and Myers were mentioned when discussing Yankees relievers which makes little sense to me. thats a load of s***. the white sox dont want any of the yankees pitchers who arent named scott proctor. and the yankees wont move proctor.
