Angels & Sox looking at Crawford
shawnhillegas replied to That funky motion's topic in Pale Hose Talk
i hate to say this but i dont think anyone besides us thinks that sean tracey is a prospect in any form. hes 24 and had a 4+ era in AA last year. -
is this serious? it can't be. THE SEASON IS OVER. GET OVER YOURSELF AND MOVE ON. ITS A BUSINESS AND KENNY'S JOB ISNT TO KEEP AROUND THE PEOPLE YOU LIKE BECAUSE YOURE NOSTALGIC ABOUT 2005
-
i actually think its a bad idea to have your 1-3 hitters ALL left-handed
-
QUOTE(3E8 @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 01:20 PM) How bout Vernon Wells? i like the idea, but toronto needs offense more than they need another pitcher.
-
this was hinted at before but what gives this article no credibility is the outfield depth comment. the cubs have jeremy burnitz (not yet signed) and an AFL left field prospect as their corner outfielders, and our 7th best outfielder (borchard) is probably the equivalent of burnitz 1. dye 2. pods 3. anderson 4. mak 5. owens 6. young 7. borchard.
-
ill take the tejada for borchard and willie deal. but other than that, no gracias.
-
i dont understand why we would let owens rot on the bench when he doesnt even have a year at AAA under his belt. let the guy play!!! people are worried because he was a football player and is still a raw talent, well at bats seems to be the solution to that problem, not watching brian anderson and eating sunflower seeds.
-
Is bajaneru part of the bullpen next year? are we just going to give him away so he can put up good numbers somewhere else? i haven't heard his name mentioned once.
-
you guys have got it all wrong. lets sign.....rickey henderson. did you know that once in the mid-1980's he stole more than 100 bases!!!! im sure with a 4 year deal we can lure both him and lofton, and maybe sign chris singleton and mckay christenson while we're at it.
-
well if we have to pay the big bucks, id rather keep beurhle and freddy. and besides, i have a good feeling that in 3 years we will be complaining about how we dont have enough money to offer mccarthy an extension
-
at least PTI is more entertaining than that god-awful jim rome. how can you respect yourself when your only job is to whine about people who are a million times the athlete you could ever dream of being...."joey harrington blah blah blah" harrington should punch jim rome in the face.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 07:18 PM) Marte >>>>> Munoz. There's just about no case to be made against this logic. WHAT IS WRONG WITH EVERYONE? DAMASO MARTE DOES NOT SUCK AND NEITHER DOES VIZCAINO. BOTH HAD ERA'S IN THE 3's!!!! yes, damaso struggled and vizcaino had a s***ty first half, but RELEASING THEM? they aren't superstars, but id rather have vizcaino at his salary then be paying bobby howry 8 million dollars to put up the same ERA. and what about jeff bajaneru? is he ever going to get any love? oh yeah, and marte is a hundred million times better than munoz.

it seems to me that no one on this board has any faith in anderson...yet i get the impression that in a couple years these same people will welcome young owens and sweeney. just out of curiousity, why? young is a better power prospect and owens is fast, but why couldnt anderson hit 280 20 70?

does this mean that blum's blondes wont be at the Cell next year?

QUOTE(zach61 @ Nov 14, 2005 -> 05:00 PM) It's not the contract that I dislike him for. It's the fact that he went to the Rangers for the money and then complains about not winning and saying he never just went there for the money. If the Rangers fit his needs and it was for the money, then why was he whining after a few yrs? He went where he wanted and got what he wanted and then changed his mind and the yanks were able to bail him out. At the very least, he should have come out and said he went to the highest bidder instead of blowing smoke up our asses and then expect us to feel sorry for him cause the rangers sucked. ] such a good argument. everyone has a right to take all the money they can and thats why s***ting on boras is such a stupid thing to do. his job is to get his clients the most money possible and thats what he does. if you dont like it because you think it cripples the teams payroll, b**** at the player. but if you want to take the most money. dont lie. dont tell us the rangers are good or that you like the schools. have the balls to say you want the money. you have to respect a person looking out for their economic interests if they are truthful about it (although again you should be pissed if its a contract that cripples a team for an extended period)

QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Nov 14, 2005 -> 05:23 PM) TBH...you are absolutely right...if it ain't broke, don't fix it. But, there were parts of the White Sox that were broke. A lefty power bat, as someone said. If, for some reason, Abreu became available, I'd be all for the upgrade. It's not that we want a trade just to trade. doesnt anyone remember the 1984 team???? WE ADDED TOM SEAVER, kept everyone else and sucked....now its not 1984 anymore, but it shows that what worked one year might fail another.

QUOTE(Felix @ Nov 12, 2005 -> 09:20 AM) Before the Freddy Garcia trade, Jeremy Reed was basically what Brian Anderson is right for the White Sox. He was the next big thing to come in centerfield, and very similar to Brian Anderson. His numbers in Charlotte in '04 were similar to Brian Anderson's last year, except he had many less AB's because of the trade, and struck out much less. His overall numbers in AAA (both in Tacoma and Charlotte) were quite similar to Brian Anderson's last year, and while they are different players, you can make an educated guess that their numbers would be similar in their first year in the bigs. isnt anderson considered a much bigger power prospect than reed? i guess my only point is that it seemed reed was just on an amazing (maybe even lucky although i hesitate to use that word) streak-for average his two big years in the sox farm system. anderson never seemed to be playing over his head and hit more homers....but you could be right.
-
QUOTE(Felix @ Nov 12, 2005 -> 06:29 AM) Very good point, those are basically the sort of numbers I would expect Anderson to put up. how in the world can you assume brian anderson's numbers in 2006 by looking at the mariners centerfielder's numbers in 2005?
-
QUOTE(SnB @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 03:04 PM) only at soxtalk would i open up a thread about iguchi and see the last post was about alex gonzalez. but isnt that what makes this site so great?
-
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 03:37 PM) Maybe he is thinking about moving Dye to DH (replacing FT), Owens into the OF? Leaving a DH who is also the 4th OF, like 2005? Maybe not a bad idea, if Owens is ready. Didn't someone say earlier that he is hitting for some ridicluous average in winter ball right now? why all this owens talk? chris young had 30 steals in AA as well and hes s much better prospect.
-
QUOTE(beck72 @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 07:59 AM) Not going to happen. Crede's a huge part of the sox going forward. And despite his good playoffs, Joe's a .250 hitter. He's not going to get Eric Chavez money. Now, if Joe hits like .280 with 25 hrs and 100 rbi's this year.... i dont see joe hitting much over 260 but i think hes going to be a 30 homer guy....
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 01:14 PM) borchard is done with the Sox. I have no doubt about. We just don't have the time or the roster spot to wait on him anymore. He might very well "get it" with the next team or he might not. All I know is Brian Anderson has passed him on the depth charts, and there are exactly zero openings for starting OFs as of right now. Borch will not be on the 40 man roster next year. while i agree with you 100% i think that releasing borchard is a bad idea for all the other reasons people are talking about. since he is an enigma with a huge upside, why not give him the 5th outfielder spot (presuming he takes it)...look, at least when he pinch hits you know hes either hitting one 500 feet or missing it by 5 feet.

this board is awesome. thats all i have to say.

screw willie harris, i want geoff blum to start. if we win with him the astros will concede the series. and why the hell is this an available smiley option, just out of curiosity?
