QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 02:37 PM) In that particular case I meant we all collectively as in: the city, fans, the media, etc. I personally, as I explained above, couldn't believe it was really gonna happen. My point was Mariotti was expressing a concern that everybody had. As far as your bulls*** statement about how you only see me on here griping, you're full of s***. It's one thing to disagree with me--fair enough--it's another to be a baldfaced liar, like you're being now. Funny how you could care less about what Ozzie says... but you're obsessed with whatever Mariotti says. Huh? Anyway, nobody's asking you to like Mariotti. And as far as your claim that Mariotti never writes positive columns about the Sox, I can only laugh. Go look them up, then. You guys sure had a blog up fast enough counting all his flip-flopping, but now you can't locate one positive column about the Sox in the past two years. Me smell bulls***. If you want to lock it up, by all means. I think we've had our fun today. LV, show me one GREAT article that the Moronotti has written about our Sox team. When AJ was literally punched by Barrett for no reason at all, your jagbag writer took on Barrett's side and berated AJ. Tell me in your heart, do you think that's a GREAT piece of writings? Close this f***ing thread! I CAN'T stand the jagbag apologists!
-
After all of those negative articles that Moronotti has written about the White Sox, it's just unfathomable to me that there are still White Sox fans out there who are defending the jagbag. You guys the Jagbag apologists make me SICK! Ozzie has the gut to say it like it is. AND I RESPECT THAT!

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 01:37 PM) go cubbies!! beat those kittens! And already, the Cubs are down 2-0. Go Ramirez!!! It would make my weekend, BIG TIME, if the Cubs sweep the Tigers, the Cardinals sweep the Rockies, AND our White Sox sweep the Reds. Please make my mini dream come true! QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 10:42 PM) With a runner on 3rd and 1 out on the season Jim Thome is 5-9 w/ one 2B, two HRs, 13 RBIs, two BBs and a 1.833 OPS. How is that not good enough for you? If this doesn't shut this one of the STUPIDEST threads down, nothing is up in the brain!

SUCH IDIOTIC THREAD!

QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 10:06 PM) Great point by Fathom. The team has heart. The team just sucked after winning the opener, 11-0, for whatever reason, but heart is not the reason. It's the pitching!

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 08:50 PM) When the f*** did I blame Ozzie for what happened to McCarthy? I wanted McCarthy to start the 6th inning, as I think he's a hell of a lot more comfortable starting the inning instead of coming in with people on base. It's truly disappointing to see what we've made McCarthy into this season. Everyone in this site knows that you always blame everything on Ozzie. It goes back to last year. If McCarthy can not handle the heat, then he has no business being on the team. He really STINKS so far! -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 08:42 PM) McCarthy's going to get the most blame, but Thornton really was pathetic tonight also. Isn't it amazing how many rallies you can have when you get contributions from the bottom of the order? Fathom, you the one who wanted BMAC in. You got your wish. Go ahead and keep on blaming it on Ozzie! Like I've stated, our pitchers ARE NOT DOING WELL right now. Will there be anyone who will point your finger at Cooper? It seems like when our pitchers are doing well, everyone jumps on Cooper's bandwagen. What happens if they are not doing well? -

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 08:05 PM) One of our holes is in the bullpen, a place where McCarthy could be used, yet we continue to let him rot away due to inactivity. In case if you do NOT notice. BMAC stunk up the joint the last time he pitched, and Thornton has been the most reliable reliever we have. If Ozzie trotted BMAC, and he gave up all of those runs, you AND Fathom would jump all over Ozzie. Would you please stop your pathetic whining! -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 08:03 PM) Yep....we suck. It's a great thing we brought in the lefty, and let him face Michaels. Well done pitching staff and Ozzie. Stop blaming everything on Ozzie. It's our starting pitchers we all should worry about. All of them are NOT doing well at all. All at the same time! -
As Mike Ditka used to say: People who are looking in the past are LOSERS! We made the deals. Move on. One thing I know for SURE: None of those Double and Triple A minor leaguers will help the Sox to win the World Series this year. Thome and Vazquez will!

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ May 23, 2006 -> 06:34 AM) Would you look at this, Kotex boy is fanning the flames of Joey Cora biting someone during the fight. It is so easy to write columns when you only have to watch the game and post-game on Comcast. Mariotti doesnt have to leave the house. Mike North is the instigator. I listened to the tape he played this morning, and he WAS the one who asked Dempster if he knew that Cora "might have bitten" Jones. Now North is acting as if he is not in the wrong here. North and Moronaughty are just the same. They want to create controversy for attraction. The hell with both of them!

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ May 12, 2006 -> 01:06 PM) The excuse that "we did it before" is lame. We've done lots of stupid things before. And the excuse that "I have nothing to hide" is even worse. It says that its OK for joe citizen if they avoid certain topics in their lives, and that is unamerican in my opinion. Any domestic data for phone calls or electronic media that is being mined, collected or analyzed without a warrant is wrong. Period. I don't care if we did it before or not. I second that. "I am doing nothing illegal" doesn't mean that I want you to come into MY house without my consent. This is flat-out wrong. I guess according to the 29% who are still supporting Bush, his fart always smell good, no matter what!

If the Phillies come calling to ask us to give Thome back to them, and in turn they will give us back Rowand, Gonzalez and Haigwood , would you do it? For me, NO WAY! Rowand is nice, but having a tremendously powerful left bat in our lineup is MUCH nicer.
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 12, 2006 -> 09:36 AM) The best thing i saw from philly fans is that Rowand requested padding on that metal bar at the beginning of the season, and the fans are up in arms on how its amazing they havent installed it yet. Damn Rock, I can't concentrate on the messages without looking at your avatar!

QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ May 11, 2006 -> 08:31 PM) Eh, don't worry about it. I've been posting on sports message boards for awile now, and I've seen it all. I'm unfortunate enough to be a lifelong Detroit Lions fan, and I've been called much worse. It seems we're at a basic philosophical crossroads regarding fandom--you have your thoughts, I have mine. I'm not going to get too upset about anything said on either side--we're just two fans having a conversation thanks to the wonderful internet. I would suggest not making arguments "ad hominem" in the future though--it's common courtesy. You're right. No more "ad hominem." At least will not be coming from me from now on! Damn, you know I have to look up what "ad hominem" means!

Chitownsportsfan: Truly sorry for being so harsh! Please accept my apology man.

QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ May 11, 2006 -> 04:07 PM) Ok, so what issues are up for debate on this forum then? But to me, one year of success doesn't mean he has mastered the art. He was great last year, but I won't see he's been anywhere close this year--so far--he could show a deft hand yet. If you think you've already mastered the art, by no means, please go and apply for the manager job. Let's see how FAR you get. You want to get down to nuts and bolts. Tell me EXACTLY what has Ozzie done differently this year from last year? And DON'T make up stuffs! Ozzie's philosophy has always been match-up. If that philosophy has helped him and the White Sox to win a World Series title after 88 years, why bother to b**** about it? "One year of success doesn't mean he has mastered the art." I can't believe you said that! That one year of success has eliminated 88 years of frustrations and broken hearts, and you have the f***ing nerve to say that!
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 11, 2006 -> 03:00 PM) Eh, their minor league system has been openly criticized of being devoid of talent, especially after this many top picks. Also they never really received much from trading their all star outfield of Dye, Beltran and Damon. The org is crappy, as is their owner. How the hell you traded away Beltran, Damon and Dye and got almost NOTHING back is beyond my understanding AND imagination!
-
QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ May 11, 2006 -> 02:11 PM) Why is it a tiresome argument not worthy of debate? (I combined the two posts for simplicity--I know who said what.) I think lots of people don't like Jenks being put in to clean up other peoples messes. If he's going to be used in high leverage non-save situation--then freaking use him at the beginning of the inning. Furthermore, Ozzie needs to be reminded that Cotts was the team's best and most consistent reliever from point A to B last year. He can also (and should) be used more creatively. I have no problems with how Ozzie is using Thortnon and Bmac. I mostly blame the Logan problem on KW, although I'm sure Ozzie gave him a vote of confidence during spring training. One of the reasons I think Ozzie is doing a poor job with the bullpen is that last year he proved to be one of the best in the league at getting the most out it. He let guys settle into roles, and then used them appropriately. Right now, there doesn't seem to be much rythme or reason to his pitching changes. I put it this way. Between you and Ozzie, I take Ozzie's bullpen handling every single time. You don't even know what is in Ozzie's mind, so stop pretending you know.
-
QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ May 11, 2006 -> 12:20 PM) Jenks is the last of this teams bullpen worries. Before 2 out of his last 3 outings he was looking great. I'd be much more worried about why BMAC was pulled, and then why Cotts was pulled--that stuff is on Ozzie. Oz seems to have no idea how to handle the bullpen right now. Jenks needs to be brought in at the start of innings. He isn't overworked at all. If 14.1 IP so far is "overworked", I'd hate to normal use. This is another thing I hate from posters! Why don't you go and apply for the manager position then? You think you know how to handle the bullpen. If your bullpen blows, regardless of who you are, you will LOSE MANY games.
-
QUOTE(YASNY @ May 11, 2006 -> 11:36 AM) We should not put all our eggs in one basket. Fair enough. So what happens when Ozzie tries someone else to see if he can do the job? I'll answer that question. This board explodes with criticism. He used Thornton in the 9th once ... This a lefty with a 97 mph heater ... and everybody went apes***. They go ape s*** if Bobby doesn't get to start the inning. They complain that the bullpen doesn't have defined roles, then go apes*** when he tries to see what his pitchers are capable of, because it doesn't fit the perceived roles that Joe F. Blow thinks the roles should be. Don't even think starting Jenks in any inning but the 9th!
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 11, 2006 -> 09:26 AM) Wow, Im surprised about how many people are really worried about Jenks. I mean you lose one game once in awhile and you would think that our players are just horrible. Big deal, he gave up more runs, we wouldnt have won anyway. When I started this thread, I did NOT have the intention to knock on Jenks. I love Jenks, his high-heat velocity, his coolness and his hardship background. It's not even the loss that I am concerned about. Of course, during any long season, there will be ups and downs, defeats and victories. It seems to me Jenks has lost his velocity for some reasons that I can not fathom! If Jenks continues with his 93, 94, 95MPH fastballs, good hitters will be ready for him. He need to get his velocity up AND get his other pitches working.
