QUOTE(Reddy @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 06:04 PM) but its annoying when EVERY TIME a reliever comes in it's in a bad situation That's one of the major parts being a reliever. Stop defending BMAC. He f***ed the team up today!

QUOTE(mmmmmbeeer @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 06:00 PM) jon has/recovering from the flu, barely makes it out of the 5th unscathed, and oz brings him back out for the 6th in 110 degree heat. he gives up the dreaded leadoff walk, oz still sticks with him. he gives up the double, finally oz decides it might be time to pull him. mccarthy comes in with 0 out and men on 2nd and 3rd...spiffty situation to walk into. had bmac started the inning i guarantee he wouldn't have allowed 4 runs. oz f***ed up. BMAC f***ed up!

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 05:58 PM) The blames goes to Garland/McCarthy/Ozzie this inning. Knowing you too well Fathom. You just have to have Ozzie in every blame!
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 05:57 PM) Why, it makes a lot of sense? He's a finesse pitcher, and it's very hard to have a good feel for your pitches coming right out of the bullpen. If we weren't going to start him this year, he should have been in AAA making a lot of starts. So when he was pitching good in relief, I didn't hear you saying this. You were just raving how good BMAC is, but when he is terrible, oh because he needs to have a good feel for his pitches. Come on! BMAC is a good pitcher, but no way he is great.
-
QUOTE(Reddy @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 05:47 PM) now bmac's gonna take heat for letting those runs score... fish you ozzie Come on! Stop blaming this on Ozzie. BMAC is overrated by a lot of people on this site! There goes trade value!

QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 09:35 PM) All is well tonight, my friends. Certainly! And Five More Of These "Tonight" would be so dandy.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 09:30 PM) I'm a little nervous in this thread....it's 3 admins and a mod. Allow me to help you out. If the O's want to trade Tejada for McCarthy and Uribe, I agree with Fathom in a heartbeat. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 09:31 PM) I'm not sure if he has the same value, but I'm also not exactly sure that offer is on the table. If it is the O's should pull the trigger. I also don't think there is a drastic difference between Brandon and Santana (I'd have really said that entering the year) although I'd be the first to admit you got to love Santana's arm and stuff. However, Brandon is real poised and darn good too (imo). But I'm saying thats what it would take for me to make that move and if they wanted another prospect I wouldn't have a problem with that as long as we aren't talking a darn good one (Tracey is as far as I'd go and this again assumes we get Cabrerra back). Otherwise I don't think its smart to move a young starter thats going to be in our rotation next year and hopefully for a long time. Perhaps, I haven't seen what you as well as others see in McCarthy. I understand BMAC is a godd pin-point-control kind of pitcher, but if you ask me who should I take if I have a choice among Liriano, Verlander and BMAC, I would select Liriano and Verlander before BMAC. Tejada is a rare SS stud playing at a very tough position. Given what I desire, no way the O's are willing to accept BMAC and Uribe for Tejada. The Angels' package is better.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 09:11 PM) As a non stat guy, I say get the guy to 2nd so your big hitter can deliver a single (considering were in a major slump). But luckily Ross came through and that could be the spark that gets this team back on track. All that said, we should still be willing to call hit and runs and stolen bases because it will keep the team fresh and make sure the opposition is focused defensively. Like you've stated, let's hope that this come-from-behind win will propel the team to change its downward direction to a much brighter one.

QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 08:14 PM) I noticed that and was thinking the exact same thing. And if Ozuna was thrown out, people will scream for Ozzie's ass - How stupid can you be to have Ozuna steal a base when Thome or Konerko is coming up?
-
QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 02:27 PM) Before the ASB. Man, that seems like six months ago. At this point in time, Power Ranking should be oblivious to our Sox team. Let's get back our sterling starter pitching, then we'll talk!

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 09:18 AM) I'm not sure why everyone is worried. We still have the 5th best record in baseball. In all honesty, I am not worried about our Sox's record and standing right now. The season is still pretty long for them to perhaps retake the divisional lead or the wild card. What I am really worried and baffled about is the all-at-the-same-time decline of our starting pitchers, except for Contreras and Garland! I truly don't understand the reason why all of the sudden, our starting pitchers, especially the pin-point-control Buerhle, get so terrible. My gosh, look at the following ERAs in the month of July: Buerhle: 11.48 Garcia: 5.76 Vazquez: 6.48 Now let's see what Garland's and Contreras' July stats: Contreras: 3.48 Garland: 1.17 Should Buerhle, Garcia and Vazquez get back on the right track, we will make the playoff. If not, have a nice vacation!
-
QUOTE(OldSox2 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 06:47 PM) The White Sox is dead in'06. In Your Mind, but NOT Mine. In the end, we will be in the playoff as a wild card or division leader! I hope!
-
QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 04:14 PM) OK, is time to start looking at Buehrle the same we look at Garcia or Vazquez? I mean, this is 5 horrible starts in a row. I thought he'd pull it together but there doesn't seem to be an end in sight. Who would have thought Garland is our best and most reliable starting pitcher right now? Just sweep the Baltimore series. The Twins and Tigers are playing each other these next three games. I kinda wish the Tigers will sweep the Twins, but I doubt it, especially with Liriano and Santana going for the Twins on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
-
QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 03:57 PM) awful. the only one on this team with stones right now is garland. Who would have thought!
-
QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 03:35 PM) remember when a 3 run dficit in the eighth still meant you had a realistic shot at winning the game? Like two months ago? That's what they need, a good old fashioned come from behind victory. Don't make me cry of reminiscence!

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 03:28 PM) That is such a crock, it shocks me that people actually believe that the loss of Aaron Rowand, he of the .740 OPS and the addition of Jim Thome, a perfect prototypical DH is the downfall of this team. Wow, this is why I no longer go to games, I can't stand the fanbase anymore. - Rowand hustled and was a major cog in the clubhouse, HE WAS WHY THE TEAM HAD SUCH GREAT CHEMISTRY LAST YEAR!!11 - Rowand did hustle, he also struckout 116 times last year while walking only 32 times, give me a break, the guy had 2 very close friends in the clubhouse and guess what they're doing after the departure of their good buddy Arow? Crede's having the best year of his career and Pierzynski has been raking for most of the season. Winning breeds chemistry, not the other way around, funny how when this team was kicking ass and taking names earlier in the year no one really complained about a lack of team chemistry but now that they're losing all of a sudden they miss the presence of the great Aaron Rowand. How the hell did this team lose 13.5 games in the standings late last year? Did Rowand take a break from the team? Did he stop supplying the team with chemistry? Or did he just put up a big fat .705 OPS last September?? Someone explain to me why replacing Carl Everett with a superior talent in Jim Thome, who walks a ton and hits sac flys (two major components to "smallball") made the smartball go away? Hey, guess what? Without Jim Thome this team would have been completely screwed at the beginning of the season when the bats came out relatively cold and the pitching was horrible, JIM THOME CARRIED THIS TEAM. It's amazing when Mark Buehrle, Javier Vazquez and Freddy Garcia decide to suck the best player on this team gets the blaim, yeah that makes sense. Does anyone even remember last season? Do you remember why this team had to play "smallball"? The offense was absolutely pathetic, couldn't put up 5 runs in a game to save their collective life. The pitching (both SP and pen) carried the team for just about the whole damn season, holding the other team to 0-2 runs a game and the offense somehow managed to score 1-3 runs per game over the span, they won every damn 1 run game last year because of this. 2005 Chicago White Sox: Scored 741 runs, Allowed 645 runs. Pythagorean W-L: 91-71 that a -8 differential. Do you know what this means? It means they won a TON of 1 run games, the allowed NO runs last year, amazing pitching but they also only scored 741 runs, not very good. They've already scored 558 runs this year, that's awesome. Now do you want to know why they have been losing, why this team is struggling, why they can't win a damn game? THE TEAM ERA IS NOW UP TO 4.55, THAT IS GOOD FOR 9TH IN THE AL AND BY FAR THE WORST OF ANY PLAYOFF TEAM. The 2005 Chicago White Sox played some smallball, basically they forced themselves to and you know what? They didn't hit any homeruns last year right? THEY HIT 200 HOMERUNS LAST YEAR PEOPLE! Guess what else they did? They scored 4.57 runs per game, by far the worst of ANY playoff team but they also only allowed 3.98 runs per game which was far and away the BEST of ANY playoff team. So they didn't score many runs (4.57) but they didn't allow any either (3.98). 2005 Chicago White Sox Runs Allowed per game: 3.98 2006 Chicago White Sox Runs Allowed per game: 4.80 +.82 run differential 2005 Chicago White Sox Runs Scored per game: 4.57 2006 Chicago White Sox Runs Scored per game: 5.62 +1.15 run differential If the pitching staff would actually be doing its job this year (pitched like people expected) then we would have absolutely NO problem, this team would be cruising and no one would be complaining about a lack of "smallball". If you want to blaim the offense then you better not be using last year as any sort of frame of reference because it's basically a carbon copy of itself except they're scoring a whole lot more runs. ugh Great post! As you've stated if our starting pitchers pitch like last year, we definitely will be leading the division with the best record in the major league. NO DOUBT ABOUT THAT. Unfortunately, our starting pitchers have been so terrible. What the heck is wrong with our pitching? Should ask Cooper?

QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 11:25 PM) Calm down, gramps. This team needs to do many things to start winning again. The key is starting pitching. We've got 1 starting pitcher with an ERA under 4.50. If the starting pitching doesn't come around in a consistent way, we're cooked. Ozzie needs to do a better job of handling the SP's and the bullpen. The problem is that he doesn't know how to do it and I doubt he's going to learn any time soon. And of course the team needs more consistent hitting. Not just a few hits a game including a couple homers. That isn't going to get it done. But I think one of the biggest problems is that this team doesn't have the fire in the belly to win quite enough. They don't show the hunger they had last year. They aren't fighting for it like they did last year. Ozzie needs to do something about that. That's his job. When the Sox were in the same situation with the Cleveland Indians right behind their tail, you probably had the same whining reaction. If this is Ozzie's job to redirect his team, let him do it, and stop your fishing whining.

QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 11:14 PM) Blind optimism and rah-rah cheerleading will lead to NOTHING! Open your eyes and be a smart fan. Blind optimism! How long has you been a Sox fan? I'm 43 years old, and have been a Sox fan eversince I can remember. I suffered through MANY years of letdown and frustration. I fishing cried last year when we won the World Series. If you think you are fishing a smart fan, tell me what does the team have to do to get out of this negative trend? If you don't know, shut the fish up!
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 11:07 PM) I do question if everyone you mentioned is 100 pct focused on winning the game. Fathom, negative will lead to NOTHING! Suck it up the bad times, and let's hope for the good times that will soon arrive.
-
Understandably, this is the toughest time since we won the World Series that the team and us fans are going through. STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT OUR PLAYERS, MANAGERS OR COACHES. They are trying their damned hard to change this negative direction. This is the time the team needs our support. Please keep up our faith, because this is about the ONLY thing the team and us fans have right now. Let's hope for the best in the coming months.

QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 09:01 PM) Brian Anderson will homer here Brian homers here, and I will not ask for the Soriano trade!

QUOTE(Maverick0984 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 08:58 PM) the last few weeks the fat lady has sung arond the 6th/7th inning Not tonight, baby! I got a hunch. The fat lady will sing to the Twins tonight.
-
QUOTE(Butter Parque @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 08:56 PM) Yay!!! But you know we'll end up losing 4-3 to make it more miserable Until the fat lady sings, we don't actually know the ending now, do we?

WAKE THE fish UP!!! GET SOME FIRE UNDERNEATH YOUR BUTT AND START WINNING SOME GAMES!!!

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 04:05 PM) We should be at most #10. Nah, I see us ranked 5th behind the Tigers, Yankees, Red Sox, and the Mets as of now. I believe if the playoff starts today, our White Sox team will be a whole lot different and better team!
