  1. Well, we do have a glut of starters. They just aren't any good.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ May 19, 2010 -> 08:35 PM) Any stat person able to find a situation where a sac bunt by the Sox led to a run this season? I can't recall many. What does it matter. We don't score when we bunt. We don't score when we hit and run. We don't score when we do nothing. The players just aren't getting the job done. Bottom line. It has nothing to do with f***ing bunts.
  3. Well, I don't think most teams get a guy in with a runner on 3rd and less than 2 out. Oh wait.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 19, 2010 -> 05:01 AM) I guess I'm in the minority, but I really enjoyed this weeks episode. Answered some questions and I can see this thing having an ending. Reading through the message boards I think the majority of lost fans loved this episode. But there are some people that want all the questions answered and all the details explained and if they can't have that, they'll be dissapointed. I think they need to be ready for some dissapointment because the creators just weren't interested in doing that to the level that those people wanted

And I don't think it really matters why she was or wasn't. She wasn't going to be the one to take over.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 18, 2010 -> 08:50 PM) A lot of the article/ interviews around the end of the 2nd and beginning of the 3rd seasons stated or implied that the "Ben" character was originally a small role, but that the performance was too good not to keep going. Yeah, they picked the perfect actor. He was really the star of the 2nd and 3rd seasons.

QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ May 18, 2010 -> 08:20 PM) I thought tonight's episode was good. I wondered what exactly happened to Richard Alpert? Is he dead or alive? I also wish Widmore had a bigger role. I love how Ben got his 'revenge' on Widmore for the death of Alex, which to me is the most emotional/moving/compelling moment on Lost, right ahead of Charlie's death.

Bout time we saw some more badass Ben.
  9. Who'd have thought that Fred would be our 2nd best pitcher! Good job today!
  10. QUOTE (IamtheHBOMB @ May 17, 2010 -> 04:25 PM) I really wish I could figure out why for the much of the last 15-20 years this team has continually underachieved. I don't get it. This year is just another season in a pattern of squandered potential and it is pretty depressing. Well, there wasn't near as much potential as there has been in recent years. We knew this offense could be super bad if Beckham and CQ, 2 questions marks didn't hit. It's not like there are a ton of good hitters in our lineup just not hitting. Buerhle, Floyd and Peavy have certainly been really disappointing and there is squandered potential there.
  11. QUOTE (hawksox13 @ May 17, 2010 -> 12:01 PM) Lucy makes sense as the back up catcher if it saves nearly $800K. As opposed to getting veteran back ups the Sox could go with a young bench, which would end up saving them another couple of million dollars. It's not ideal, but if they really are looking to cut the payroll down to $91M for next season, then they can't afford to be deep in the bullpen and on the bench. This team isn't in a position to be strong everywhere. I think we'd be really lucky to have a 91 milllion dollar payroll
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 17, 2010 -> 10:45 AM) So lets ignore Peavy and Buehrle's career numbers and base all judgment off of a few months? Is that what you are saying is smart GM-ing? Well, Buerhle's career numbers are fine because he has pitched in this park and in this league. You have to ignore soem of Peavy's numbers because he pitched in a s***ty league in a huge ballpark. And Buerhle has been bad now since around his perfect game next year. Sometimes players just get older and they get worse. It happens to most.
  13. We have a good pitching staff?
  14. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 17, 2010 -> 09:21 AM) I agree with you. And I think that is what makes everything tough. If they rebuild, they need to do it where they maintain the ability to utilize the rotation they have and some of the pieces they have. It can be done, it won't be easy necessarily, but it can be done. The rotation we have isn't all that great. Buerhle has been bad since the middle of last year. Same with Floyd. Peavy hasn't been anything near an Ace, much less an All-star type pitcher. It can be done, but you are praying for a ton of players to play significantly above what they ddi this year. I think that is a big risk, and not the way to build the team. Thats just my opinion though.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 17, 2010 -> 08:52 AM) If it's done right, it's entirely possible to be competitive next year, we just have to be intelligent about how its done. Only if 4-6 players bounce back. And I don't think it is very smart to ever count on that. Konerko will likely be gone. Same with Jones. I think our payroll is going to be pretty low next year. It is going to be tough to be competitive IMO.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 17, 2010 -> 08:42 AM) Luckily KW isnt a message board GM that think of selling an entire MLB team because of an underperforming stretch. I'm sure the Charlotte Knights would really keep the interest of a few folks on this board because all they want is change, but there is NO WAY in hell we sell of the entire team especially players under control for several seasons in their prime. Why keep around players who are in a contract for 2-3 more years when it is going to be pretty tough to be competitive during those years. Might as well try to get some good young players again.

QUOTE (kev211 @ May 16, 2010 -> 08:49 PM) 1 week. That's exciting and depressing all at the same time. I'm going to be sad when it's all over.
