GT: White Sox @ Rays, 5/30 12:40 CDT, WGN
jphat007 replied to justBLAZE's topic in 2010 Season in Review
Well, maybe Jake Peavy will be good next year, because he sure as hell sucks this year. -
Nice little segment on John Ely on baseball tonight.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 27, 2010 -> 07:28 PM) This game is going to get out of hand very soon. We simply don't match up at all with the Rays. We don't match up well with pretty much any team.

Haha. Hawk is just generally angry these days. He's some kinda pissed at Gavin

May is a great month for birthdays. Happy Birthday!

QUOTE (SnB @ May 26, 2010 -> 06:44 PM) random question: Why did Widmore bring back Desmond? what possible benefit did he have with him, knowing about his ability w/ electromagnets and all that mumbo jumbo. He could go to the heart of the electromagnetism and live through it. I don't think they knew exactly what he could do down there but that was the reason he brought him back.

QUOTE (zenryan @ May 26, 2010 -> 05:27 PM) Seems like he's already getting that treatment by a lot of posters on warchant. It seems like Martin has just decided not to recruit enough quality arms. That was a good series between us (UVA) and you guys last weekend. Look forward to the game on Sat.

So apparently there is a 14-15 minute 'epilogue' of sorts that shows what happened post jack dying in 'real life'. That's what Michael Emerson just said on the awful awful Attack of the Show. Haha, he's probably going to get in a bunch of trouble for that. Going to be on the DVDs/Blurays

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 26, 2010 -> 11:22 AM) Was this a joke? Shoulda put it in green. If it's not a joke, uh Peavy needs to pitch. He's been lousy this season. Well, it was a joke, because I'm not saying he's hurt, but he's certainly not helping the team so why take any chances this season. Just put him on the shelf and have him ready for 2011.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 26, 2010 -> 09:57 AM) Not sure if you noticed, but a consistently 3.50 ERA starting pitcher IS really damn good. If you are looking for a guy to put up a 3.00 over multiple years (say 3 or more), you are looking at how many pitchers in baseball? Maybe 2 or 3 in the whole game? Usually 6-10 pitchers have ERAs sub 3.50 in the AL each year. (didn't even bother with NL but I'm sure it's more). If he's making 16+ mil a year, he better be one of those guys.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 26, 2010 -> 10:29 AM) If Jake Peavy, throughout his tenure with the White Sox, ends up with an ERA of around 3.50 or lower, it will be a good trade. That, at the very, very least, qualifies him as a damn good #2 and really, it qualifies him as an ace pitcher. I'm hoping he ends up with an ERA of 3.25 in his career as a Sox pitcher with about 45-50 wins, but I don't think he's going to be anywhere near as bad as he's been in his 9 starts this season. We're not paying him to have around a 3.50 ERA. IF you are investing huge assests (in this case money) in him, one that could fix other holes, he has to be really damn good, like Rios has been this year. Seeing as how nobody would take Jake Peavy right now, all we cna do is hope he turns it around like Rios did this year.

QUOTE (hogan873 @ May 26, 2010 -> 09:42 AM) I'm just reading your statement and not taking into account that there may be more to it, but I think everyone is looking very closely at Peavy, and all of the criticism right now is just. He's not pitching well, and hindsight being 20/20, many of us are groaning right now. I was groaning before, btw. haha
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 26, 2010 -> 08:41 AM) I wonder if, once June 1 rolls around, it might not make sense to give Peavy a 15 day "Tired arm" DL trip and give Hudson a few starts. How about the 60-day DL instead
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 26, 2010 -> 08:39 AM) Obviously Rios has shut you up. Now you've moved on to a Glenn Close obsession with Peavy. Maybe that means Peavy will be good next year.
-
I don't think Richard has given up more than 3ER in any start this year. 16 million and him instead of Peavy would look pretty neat right now

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 25, 2010 -> 10:38 AM) So the island was? The others were who? The asian guy and the temple was what? The numbers did what? Why push the button in the hatch? Significance of not being able to have children on the island? Why did the island move? Was Whidmore dead when he left? etc etc. Maybe some people want to not have answers from 99 percent of the show, but I think it was weak. The only feasible explanation of the "purgatory" was that the entire sideways flash was only Jack's purgatory until he was ready to move on. It was only from his perspective. Of course that also doesnt fit 100% either. Half of those questions were answered if you have watched the episodes

QUOTE (Stocking @ May 25, 2010 -> 06:59 AM) Me and ff7 would argue otherwise. top ten definitely tho. Ah, good man. Make that 2 for ff7

When the f*** did they let Chloe have a gun? I haven't watched in a couple seasons.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 24, 2010 -> 06:44 PM) I was 9 years old when it came out, and it pissed me off Haha. I can certainly remember that. damn I miss those days.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ May 24, 2010 -> 04:41 PM) Count me in the group that was disappointed with the ending. They dick us around with the alternate universe the whole season and don't really explain it? Also why weren't Miles and Lapidus in the church? Obviously, they were on the same plane with Kate, Sawyer, and Claire. I was also disappointed that we didn't see Walt or Michael anywhere. I thought they explained it fairly well. I bet we'll see Walt in some of the DVD extras. He apparently filmed some stuff.
