  1. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 12, 2010 -> 12:56 PM) We have a .138 hitter batting 5th. *scratches head* The rest follows as .185, .231, .195, .222 They all suck. You can't go right with anyone beyond Rios and Paulie
  2. QUOTE (hogan873 @ May 11, 2010 -> 03:07 PM) lol I was going to be nicer about it, but yes, there are many holes in the aforementioned argument. KW can improve this team by: -Securing a big bat -Securing a big bat -Securing a big bat Like I mentioned, the only way KW tries to improve this team is if the underperformers start performing like they should be. Then and only then would it make sense for KW to make a move. That's exactly what I said. What holes are you talking about. There is no use doing anything unless the players mentioned above play a lot better, significantly better, than they did the first 6 weeks of the season. We have it invested in the players we have here and if they don't play better, we're screwed. One bat added isn't going to fix the problem. And if those guys don't play significantly better (CQ, Beckham, Teahen) it's going to be a tough few years.
  3. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 11, 2010 -> 02:52 PM) There's so many holes in this post I don't know where to start. You are just so mean. I don't know how I'll ever get over it. Good post btw, lots of good info in there.
  4. ALex said 'nobody is gonna bring me in so i'll do it myself'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 11, 2010 -> 04:24 PM) Cowley tweets... That's so f***ing depressing.
  6. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 11, 2010 -> 01:02 PM) How can you say that, on May 11th? Did you think the 2006 Twins looked like a good team on May 11th, 2006? How often does a team that looks like absolutely s*** in all three phases of the game turn it around like the Twins did in 06 or last year. It just doesn't happen very often, and there are a ton of teams that look like s*** in mid may. Like I said, if you want to believe it can happen, more power to you. There are examples to show you that it has certainly happened. Unfortunately there are many many many more examples of s***ty teams in mid may staying s***ty the entire year.
  7. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 11, 2010 -> 01:57 PM) It happens in our division all the time. Have you not been watching the Twins over the past few years? Did you not notice the Indians almost came back from 16.5 back in AUGUST in a certain year not too long ago? I'm sorry, but 8 games on May 11th is nothing. The reason teams 8 games back on May 11th don't usually win the division is because those teams usually suck, not because they are 8 games back with only 130 left to play. If you want to say most fans are convinced the team sucks, go right ahead. But do not tell me they are "out of it." That is absolute nonsense. Do you realize that to come back from an 8 game deficit on May 11th would require them to SLASH away almost TWO GAMES PER MONTH starting RIGHT NOW? Well, yah, this team isn't nearly as good as any of those Twins teams, so you are right in that I think most Sox fans just think this team sucks.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 11, 2010 -> 01:50 PM) This is such an incredible line of BS. We are thirtysome games into the season. There are 130 games remaining! No one is hoping they continue to fall further back, but to claim that this deficit cannot be made up over the course of nearly 5 months of baseball is absolutely ridiculous. Who said it can't be made up? I said it rarely, if ever happens. Go look up the numbers. Teams just don't come back and win the division from 8 games back with two good teams ahead of them.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 11, 2010 -> 01:44 PM) They wouldn't have to finish off the comeback to still make it an interesting season. That's true, I'll give you that. But I think in the minds of the majority of White Sox fans they are pretty much out of it. They would have to come back on not one, but two really good teams to contend. That's going to be tough with this team, even if half the ones that are playing like s*** do play better.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 11, 2010 -> 12:40 PM) No, and here's why. If this team falls completely out of the race early this season, it's a ticket sales killer. 8 games out in mid May is pretty close to out of the race already. Not very many teams come back from deficits like that. A very very small number of exceptions have, but that number is super small.
  11. QUOTE (hogan873 @ May 11, 2010 -> 12:37 PM) Good information here. And if things turn around (quickly), 2010 could be similar to 2009 with KW making some moves to improve the roster. Obviously he's not going to land a Peavy and a Rios again, but there's definite room for improvement as long as the team is worthy of improvement. I've never had many complaints about KW. My biggest complaint this year is Ozzie's handling of the DH situation, but that does go back to KW...he could have trumped Ozzie and went his own way and tried to acquire a bat. What are you going to improve though? Are you going to give up on Quinten, Beckham, Pierre, Ramirez and Teahen? KW isn't going to do that and show he failed. Not this early. Same goes with Floyd. The only way we get better the rest of this year, or for the next two or 3 years, is if those players play at a significantly higher level than they have really in the past two years. There isn't much KW can do to improve the mess of a roster he created except for pray. I don't think he is going to be able to find replacements for all of the above.
  12. We're f***ed. There is the discussion on the payroll.
  13. Been playing Just Cause 2 all night. It is a ton of fun. The world is just huge and there is just so much to do!
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 9, 2010 -> 03:44 PM) What hurts so damn much about this year is that this team could have won the division. Could have won if they pitched well like they were supposed to. Could have won if Alex Rios hits. Could have won if they get production out of the DH spot. They got the production from Rios and Jones. Konerko is killing the ball. But the pitching is mediocre at best and the back end of the bullpen has almost been disappointing outside of Thronton and Santos. So we got what we wished for, but all the things we thought were fine clearly aren't. This team wasn't going to win the division.
