  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 07:28 PM) Hopefully I don't jinx it, but with this wind tonight, I'd much rather have Dye in RF though than Timo or Gload. Yeah, Gload is a hack in RF...I'd feel more comfortable with Carl in RF...
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 07:23 PM) How does Dye ever get hits with his swing? I know he has 3 homers this season, but he doesn't get a lot of bat speed it seems as he swings all arms. Also, I remember him hitting the ball a lot more to right field in the past. Exactly why Jermaine is struggling. When he goes good, he hits the ball the other way. He's just not right right now. He'll get it together soon.
  3. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 07:18 PM) :headshake :fyou Looking at Gameday, that looked like a f***ing blast to right-center. Yeah, 20 rows up...
  4. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 07:17 PM) In game update -- Morneau homers in the ninth, 4-4 tie. f***ing Percival. Morneau ripped the s*** out of that one...ouch...stupid tigers.
  5. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 10:45 PM) While we might contend for the wild card it will take more than 85-87 wins to do that .... and who cares what a rival gm says about our offense Rival GM? Twins, Tigers, Cubs? None of those lineups are something to write home about. Besides, hitting is the easiest thing to pick up in a mid-season trade, if need be. Try and get pitching, and you get bent over.
  6. QUOTE(sickness212 @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 04:05 PM) I have tried calling the ticket number on the sox website to get some scout seats for some games, and it's just an automated number. What is the correct number to call ? Thanks ! How much do scout seats run per game?
  7. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 02:50 PM) Great interview from Jermaine. "For me it's not about money, I just want to win." Did I hear Jim right? AJ's gonna be on the show tomorrow? Jermaine=class act
  8. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 07:33 PM) I think it's safe for me to go to sleep. Seriously, Ozzie shouldn't be doing any of this experimenting this early in the season. Ha, so you'd rather you have experimenting later in the season when the pressure is more intense. Some of you will find anything you can to blame a loss on Ozzie.
  9. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 05:47 PM) So you're gonna bench Podsednik, Rowand or Dye? I don't think so. No one said that. What I am saying Carl HAS to play the OF. To spell all 3. THERE IS NO REASON WHY TIMO SHOULD GET MORE ABs THAN CARL. Absolutely no reason. And by saying Carl shouldn't play the OF, that's what you are doing. You are saying you favor Timo in the OF over Carl which is absurd.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 05:44 PM) All I know is that Everett is an absolute disaster in the outfield. In a way, Everett/Ozzie/KW got lucky that Frank was hurt, so they don't have a 4 million dollar bench player. A pitcher won't have a lot of success with Everett in the field, especially someone like El Duque who gives up a lot of flyballs. Talk about overstatements...A pitcher wont have a lot of success because Carl isn't great defensively? Carl makes up with the bat. A bat that we will need. I garauntee Dye and Pods will not be hitting well for the entire year. You either put in Timo's average defense and below average bat or you put in Carl's above average bat and below average defense. For offensively challenged club, I'll take the latter.
  11. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 05:44 PM) Fathom is correct. If Everett is going to be in the outfield a lot the Sox are not going to win. He is a DH. When and if Frank comes back, Everett is either a real expensive pinch hitter, platoons with Frank or is trade bait. He also appears to be gaining back some of the weight that he lost. Incorrect. You wouldn't keep a hot hitter on the bench just to get MAYBE 4 ABs a week. You play him. You take the downgrade in defense for the improvement in offense. Especially on a team who's offense will have to scratch and claw to score runs.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 05:36 PM) Seriously, what was Ozzie expecting by putting him in the outfield? Everyone in baseball knows that the past few years, he was the worst outfielder in baseball. Not only that, Everett's not exactly someone who's learned to avoid injuries. And what do you know.....one play hit to him, it cost us 2 runs, and he hurt himself. Why the hell are you getting mad at Ozzie? Where do you expect Carl to play when Frank comes back. He sure as hell isn't going to be DHing a lot. Carl needed to get work in in the OF. Oh well, s*** happens. In no way is this Ozzies fault, period.
  13. QUOTE(3E8 @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 07:32 PM) Konerko needs to buy a clue f*** man, this is Johan Santana...3-19 lifetime for Pauly. You don't just buy a clue against Johan.
  14. Tomorrow is a huge game for us. Winning the series is most important and we have accomplished that, but a win tomorrow would send the message to not only the Twins, but to the nation. Show the nation that we can and will compete with the Twins. Beat Santana in Minnesota on ESPN for a sweep. I can't think of a better thing than that!
  15. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 02:14 PM) Cliff looks to be in a constant state of terror everytime he gets on the mound. Kind of the pitching version of Crede. KW needs to give Cliff that ole "step the f*** up" confidence boost like last year...
  16. Cotts looked pretty crisp yesterday, I thought. I would be very big if we could get him at a consistant 4.15-4.25 era...
  17. Yeah the stadium attitude looked like crap on TV. We need some people there damn it. What was the recording attendance? I'd go but I'm at college.
  18. Let this Harris matter go...He's a nonissue...More important things to discuss, like how badly we need Frank back and how if the top-of-the-order continues to hit poorly that Rowand needs to be bumped up to 2.... Frank's .400 OBP will do wonders for everything...
  19. Wow...Went from looking like a little league team for 8 innings, to an actual major league baseball team...Exquisite! Hopefully Iguchi's monkey is off his back, and this 9th inning starts something...We are gonna need some O tomorrow.
  20. QUOTE(JayMariotti @ Apr 1, 2005 -> 09:59 AM) You don't need stats to know that Kerry Wood is the best pitcher outside of Chicago. If the Cubs would hire intelligent trainers, Wood would put up huge stats. Its all managements fault KW=Most overrated SP in MLB
  21. QUOTE(The Critic @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 11:41 AM) Slight hijack: The two matches in your sig will be the only reasons to watch WrestleMania. I doubt they put the strap on Dave, but if they do it'll be a VERY short title run. Back on track: Cliff Pollitte has looked pretty damn bad every time I've seen him. His fastball looks straight as an arrow, and unless you throw a 98mph dart you're gonna get smacked around. He better get it turned around quick. You mean there is actually a reason to watch that crap? Politte will be Politte. Mid 4's era. Good thing we aren't relying heavily on him.
  22. QUOTE(HSC's Biggest Fan @ Mar 24, 2005 -> 10:41 AM) If Bonds was healthy where would Alou play? Wasn't he their RF from the get go? I only browsed through this thread so I apologize if I missed something. Bonds=LF Alou=RF
  23. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Mar 23, 2005 -> 09:05 AM) In the Cincy Newspaper today, they talk like Freel may get the starting nod at second over D'Angelo Jimenez. No mention of him being possible trade bait. I believe that Freel is coming off major knee surgery. Which is not good for someone who's main talent i s stealing bases. I'd much rather have Garland. Ryan Wagner is someone I would like to have, but other than that the Reds don't have much to offer us.
  24. QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 09:06 AM) True. However, if his attorney instructed him to evade answering any question of substance (pardon the pun), he would not even come close to doing so. Think about it. When people do have to invoke the fifth, the usually won't answer any question beyond confirmation of their name. I don't think Mac needed to "counsel of his attorney" to decide not to answer any questions. It doesn't take a lawyer to tell you if you used and want to avoid questions about it, take the 5th.
