QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 1, 2010 -> 12:58 PM) if they sign bosh to a max deal, that ends the chances of lebron coming here, unless he's willing to take less (or unless they do a sign and trade with toronto). didn't espn's cap guru confirm that no matter what the bulls do they couldn't sign 2? I'm not too familiar with NBA contracts, but can't the Bulls just back load Bosh's deal to make it fit within this year's cap?

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 1, 2010 -> 12:28 PM) If he's changing teams, he doesn't have to give any kind of notice does he? Duh...That may be why!
-
Nobody ever really mentions the 23 to 6 number change for LBJ. Given that you're required to give the league one year notice, that's awfully coincidental.
-
Not 1 of the 4 analysts on NBA Fastbreak picked Chicago as LBJ's landing spot, two minutes ago. 2 NY's, 2 CLE.
-
LBJ is not going to be pleased if A) Bosh is making $30 million more and B) it takes 2-3 good players away from his team to get Bosh. I can't see LBJ playing with Bosh in any sign and trade scenario.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 11:29 PM) ESPN is really trying to hype up LeBron to New Jersey. I would laugh if he went to the Nets. I wouldn't even be mad. What a legacy that would be for LeBron. Greediest player in the history of the league.

Ehh. I don't think Rose's offensive game is all that similar to Wade's. Rose can't score outside of 19-20 feet. Also, as mentioned, Wade's post game is far superior. On the flip side, Rose is a much better distributor, and I don't think it's close there. The only similarities are they both can handle the ball and are f***ing good.
-
Wade's a SG. Rose is a PG.

QUOTE (Real @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 06:55 PM) How the hell does a team with Wade AND Rose make sense? How does it not make sense?
-
There has always been a part of my brain, in the back, a small part, that has thought Wade wanted to come back to Chicago. Rose/LBJ/Wade/Noah is more of a "dream team" than LBJ/Wade/Bosh. If they want to make the "dream team," Chicago is the place.

LeBron's going to meet with teams over 3 days, so nothing much will happen until then.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 11:09 AM) I would not be ok with Joe Johnson and Amare at near-max deals. I think when I look at them that they are the 2 likeliest candidates from this list to wind up as some sort of "Bust" either overpaid for their performance or going down with injuries for a decent portion of the deal, and if you can't land the king, then either of those guys not playing at max deal level means that the Bulls are in luxury tax, 4 seed Hell for the duration of their contracts. I believe I heard/read that the Bulls have no interest in Amare and prefer Boozer. But at least with Boozer he won't get a max deal (~$10-11 mil is what I read).
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 10:57 AM) I sure as hell wouldn't and I think a lot of us would be extremely disappointed and pissed off. At the least, we need to get Bosh. I didn't say happy or satisfied, but I think that team could win the east.
-
I know they're all awesome individual players, but I'm not ready to concede that the Heat would be some mega monster with Wade, LBJ, and Bosh. I'm not convinced they'd make a great TEAM. Wade and LBJ are way too similar. One of them would need to take a step back and become the other's running mate. I'd feel comfortable with a Bulls team of Rose, Johnson, Deng, Boozer, and Noah with extra cap space to maybe sign Allen (w/ Deng/Gibson on the bench, or no Deng at all which opens up a couple more solid additions).
-
QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 12:41 AM) Wade vs Rose & Noah is the question if you assume LBJ and Bosh are going together and the rest of the rosters are going to be a bunch of D-leaguers Except the Bulls also have Deng and Gibson. The Bulls will actually have a decent bench. The Heat would have the worst bench ever.
-
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 11:01 AM) I am getting very worried. I think the Bulls are going to dance with Bosh/James, neglecting Johnson, which will let NY scoop him and Amare up. Then, James/Bosh will be between Bulls/Heat. I pray it's not a Ray Allen/David Lee summer. FWIW, Johnson reportedly prefers Chicago tenfold over any other club.
-
"The bottom line for the Bulls is that on paper they have no equal. Their team, and the way it's constructed for the future right now, speaks for itself. Far louder than whatever crazy sales pitch any team could come up with. All that Forman really has to do now during his visit with James is slide over a piece of paper that says this: Chicago Bulls 2010-2011 LeBron James -- 25 Chris Bosh -- 26 Joakim Noah -- 25 Luol Deng -- 25 Derrick Rose -- 21 Taj Gibson -- 25"
-
Someone's really going to give Yao a max contract? Phil Jackson could play more games in a season than him.

Silva's stuff is pretty legit. -
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 26, 2010 -> 12:32 AM) That Deng to Orlando trade would look better and better on this end even with the 300K more we'd be taking in. Pietrus is the taller defensive minded fit we would like who can play the 2 and 3 either start (if you have LeBron and Bosh, definitely) or come off the bench and can make the 3 (though he gets alittle too 3 happy at times which I don't like and should be driving the ball more with his athleticism) and Gortat could play Center and slide Noah to 4 if it came to that or play center off the bench and still sliding Noah to 4 when Bosh needs a rest still creating match-up problems and clogging the rebounding lanes. Would be an excellent deal for both sides if Deng stays healthy for the Magic and slides the aging Lewis to the 4 opening up 3s and playing the "Murphy/Garrity" type role for them. I'd love to get Pietrus.

How much do you think Allen with sign for?

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 05:57 PM) The perfect type of 6th man is Kirk (defense, good combo guard) or Ben (instant offense)...definitely not Deng. In fact, it seems like Gibson will become the 6th man for defensive purposes. Plus, for his contract it's not a "it'd be nice if he didn't make so much money" as it is a "For that contract, he has to play or be traded" and when trading him clears up room for a Ray Allen type shooter, you do it. For what its worth, my gut tells me Deng will be in Sacramento for a future pick. Deng is going to play. That's not going to be an issue. The Bulls had to trade a 1st rd pick and $3 million just to get rid of Hinrich's much more absorb-able contract. The Bulls can't just drop Deng's contract for a 2nd rd pick. If they could have, I'm sure they would have. It's going to take talent and a lot of cash to get rid of it. The cost of trading Deng would be greater than the cost of keeping him. It's a big contract, but it's really not hindering the Bulls from doing what they want. Kirk Hinrich has been terrible for 3 years. I would LOVE for the Hinrich of 4 years ago to resurface, but at this point he's defensive specialist, and certainly not a good 6th man. The drop from him to a guy like Chris Duhon is negligible IMO.
-
I'm not against ridding Deng's contract, I'm just saying that between Hinrich and Deng, the Bulls definitely made the right choice.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 05:32 PM) Problem is you can't ignore the contracts. I want Deng gone. He's terribly overpaid and is of no use if Lebron is acquired. Sure he has a purpose. You need a quality 6th man that can rebound and score. It'd be nice if he didn't make so much money, but if Deng doesn't stand in the way from signing LeBron and Bosh then he's worth keeping. Not to mention when Deng is on the floor with Rose and LeBron, he runs the floor very well and his mid-range game is money.
-
Contract's aside, Deng is a much better fit than Hinrich if the Bulls land LeBron. The Bulls are going to need some scoring when LeBron isn't on the floor. I'm not so sure Deng is going to start anyways if the Bulls land LeBron and Bosh. The Bulls won't have any issue finding a defensive minded G like Hinrich. He hasn't been the same since he signed his extension.
